Traded Jaeger O'Meara [traded to Hawthorn for pick 10 and GWS's 2017 2nd rd pick]

You mean the club he walked out on after being paid big $$$ for being in the treatment room for two years?
And the club who offered even more money than the Hawks did. Not the Sun's fault Hawks don't have what they want. I'm surprised O'Meara's manager hasn't started asking around Victorian clubs, Hawks don't want to give what the Suns want and he won't be welcomed with open arms if he comes back to the Suns. You'd think he'd at least try and explore other options.

Hawthorn really shouldn't have traded for pick 10 without having a set deal established with gold coast. Now they run a massive risk of having overpaid for their picks if they don't get O'meara.

Regardless, pick 10+21 is fair for O'meara.

Hawks have made all sorts of fair offers. Hard to deal with someone when their response to everything is ""NO NO NO THATS JUST NOT FAIR GIMME MORE MORE MORE".

You'd think all clubs would be looking at GCS and deciding to play hardball any time GCS are interested in their players.

And its not just us. THey are doing the same thing with Prestia. Demanding massive overs for him.

I wouldn't say pick 6 is massive overs for Prestia at all, but I agree with your earlier observations.

Getting pick 10 would mean they probably still get him in the ND if GC are asking for too much. Not that the Hawks will want to do it that way as it has some risk but it's an option.

Not sure about you but If I were O'meara there's no way I'm going to the draft and have to face the risk of playing for a club I have no interest of playing for.

But that's just me.

Mitchell is a far better player. And he hasnt struggled with injuries the way Prestia has.

To gauge whether he is worth pick 6... would Richmond use their pick for him in the draft if he goes there? I bet they would use their 2nd round.

Though we would use pick 10 on JOM.

Knowing he didnt want to play at your club, which of your picks would you use on him given he would also be asking $750k a year?

I have a feeling teams will cool off dealing with GC for a bit now. If Hawks or Richmond don't get the deal done tomorrow I fully expect JOM to come to Hawks via the draft. Once this happens GC will surely have to ask the entire recruitment department a please explain.

What are Richmond's backup plan?

You could have the same argument for Dangerfield. The thing is, a player's value is often dictated by their chosen club's available trade assets. Mitchell is better (not FAR BETTER), and Hawthorn got him for a steal, but that doesn't mean Prestia isn't worth pick 6. Another thing to consider is that Sydney almost had to trade Mitchell with them having to accommodate for Mills and Heeney despite already being very tight salary wise. Gold Coast isn't in the same shoe, they would undoubtedly prefer keeping an established player in Prestia over speculative draft picks. Also, 0 chance Richmond's 2nd pick will get it done for Prestia.

Hmmmm... I want to agree with you.

But the highlighted? I reckon that is about to be tested with JOM.

Why would GC ask themselves please explain? They said they don't want Prestia or O'Meara to leave and are driving a hard bargain because of it. I get both players asked to be traded but they are both young and are established already, I don't get the injury argument as well both sets of fans are happy to offer the players multi year multi million dollar deals the clubs obviously trust the players health.

O'Meara isn't established at all....

LOL, good luck.

4 years on and you are still bitching this much?

I'm guessing the biggest story in the last 4 years for you isn't hawks winning 3 in a row.

What do you mean 4 years on? If you get JOM because you hold the #1 pick in the ND (and PSD), then you are getting JOM because of WADA sanctions you received in 2016. Do you think you had all those shit players running around because they were the best 22 you had? You came last this year because of your doping sanctions that prevented your best 22 being allowed on the field. If you get JOM for a deal involving pick #1 you get JOM because of your doping sanctions. This is all very 2016.

Quote myself "often dictated". Exceptions occur, if this happens with JOM then you can just label it as an unusual case, so feel free to agree with me :)

Who is to say they didn't and GC have backflipped?
Then it's just careless by Hawthorn. Surely you can set up a 3 way trade saying I'll only agree to the Stkilda deal if Gold Coast agrees to our O'meara deal at the same time.

That's one way of looking at it. The other is the club that mismanaged his rehab , keeping him off the field for two years, and severely curtailing his earning ability. While they did keep him on reasonable $'s, he was good enough in his first 2 years that it was reasonable to think he'd be in the top 2-3 midfielders in the comp by now had his development continued on the trajectory it was on. Didn't the club change the medical staff because of what happened with JOM? I'm sure they are better now, but it doesn't impact what happened to him with the old staff...

Hawthorn have probably got used to dealing with sane trading partners like Sydney where an agreement is an agreement. Cochrane is perhaps not as sane as their previous dance partners.

What a conveniently narrow mind you have.
