    Tactics vs swans

Agreed to both. We don't have the skill level to muck around with the pill. Thats why i want Rocca to be really agressive at attacking the ball at the top of the square, and let Harvey, Turtle, Motlop, get front and square. But it must be moved in quickly otherwise our crumbers will get chopped...

    Tactics vs swans

You wouldn't play petrie, Rocca and Brown in the forward line all at once vs the Swans surely. Their rebound would kill us. Personally I'd like to see Sav play from behind the goal line, starting on the fence, and when he leads direct him to smash any opponent, Goodes, Barry etc. filling the...

    Past #3: Brady Rawlings - drafted in 1998 w/ #15 - 245 games & 3 Syds - NMFC list manager!

He's still underated on this board!!! Look att anyones side for next year or 2006 and they have him starting on the bench, or as an emergency. Nothing against Grima and co, but they aren't going to rplace the snoz n the next 10 years, let alone 2.

Past #10: Jesse W Smith - 27 games for NM - traded to Saints at end '09 - 0 further games in AFL

Was watching the rumblin roos the other night. They do an interview with Ros Smith and ask Jesse about his Ros' cooking (Ross was the home husband at the time). He replies its not too good! My observation was however that their is another son. Can this boy play as well?

    Gerald Fitzgerald

He obviously has a low profile, but as an assistant he strikes me as being brilliant.

    Gerald Fitzgerald

I don't know really anything about this guy, but hearing him speak at a couple of Port matches i've made it to he really impressed me. Came across as having a great tactical mind and his positiveness and teaching of players seemed outstanding. Any thoughts from Port watchers?

Time for Shane Harvey this week?

Interestingly, during the richmond game we set up with Rocca on the goal line and 4 other forwards lined up the middle.(pretty standard set up if you are a follower of footy tactics) Not seeing a lot of games live, does this happen often, as this allowed Rocca to be one out and able to lead into...

Time for Shane Harvey this week?

Woodson, does this mean that when bible says we followed the game plan and we win they do these things, and when we don't win they aren't doing them?

Time for Shane Harvey this week?

In answer to what you have said envelopes I would like to point out a few things. 1. Finding space Space is created by hard running, not by failing to chase your man. For example if Luke Power chases his opponentout of Brisbanes forward line to the wing, puts pressure on and the ball is...

Time for Shane Harvey this week?

A cheat is someone who runs forward of the ball, won;t chase, tackle etc. You can carry one or two if you have a dominant in form side, but if you don't hey are a waste of space.

    We can't carry anymore cheats.

    Tobin Brothers make good point

I think Ashcroft, Lynch, Hart and Voss and White (because they're a bit long in the tooth as well) should all have retired three years ago. Moti, if the kids are good enough they will force their way into the team. At the moment they are not.

    Nathan Thompson.

Another good reason that people who write on this forum should comment only on football skills etc. and not personally attack the players. Who knows if Shane Clayton for example has depression or not? Constructive critisism, not personal derision is what we should all have in mind.

    ash watson

Thanks Carlos for the explaination. It's good to have someone who is in tune with what's going on. Turtle out and Ash in now sounds like a good idea to me.

    ash watson

In answer to your question Carlos, no I'm basing my opinion on a few games this year and i was lucky enough to watch about a month of preseason training. It was during the simulated game time that he did not perform well against people he is in direct competition with, Stevens, Makepiece etc. He...

    ash watson

watched the port game and Ash isn't up to it yet. His disposal is overrated on this board. No more advanced than J Clayton or Mick Stevens imo. Less likely than clayton to be consistent and do the hard team things that we need at the moment.

    David King's turn of form.

Kingy is a big bloke as well, for a hbflanker, 90 something kilos which allows him to break tackles, which in turn breaks up the play. He is very encouraging to the younger players and at training the few times i've been he had taken Trotter under his wing. I'd love to see him stick around to...

Saints march in, Roos hop out

This is interesting. Can we assume that the club will be working on developing the supporter base within the context of the changing demographic of the port melbourne/docklands area?

    The future & development

Yeah, and Brereton was gone at 27. On the other hand Michael Tuck didn't play senior footy til his twenties and ended up playong 400! It's a dumb arguement. You are either ready or your not, each player is an individual and is treated so. We don't know the exact reasons why some do and some...

Do the emergencies stay in Canberra and miss playing for Port? If so this may be the reason that Sav wasn't named as an emergency.

I agree with taking the pressure of him, thats why I think going down back might help.

    Makey on channel 7

Those guys are brilliant. Thank god that the show is the same as the fat. You never know how shows like that will go when they change from the abc to commercial tv. Kerry O'Keefe is a God, and we should all vote for Kecka!!!!

    Why Rocca Must Play

Carlos I also agree with this. I just think Drew needs a little of the heat taken of him at the moment to get his confidence up.
  29. S

    Wells as a backman?

How do people think Wellsy would go as the small backman? It could be a way to run him into a bit more confidence by being able to run and meet the ball, run the lines a bit. Defensively he is good so I think that this week wouldn't be a bad option. As for body size, the Dogs have McMahon and...

    Why Rocca Must Play

If his form in the vfl is going as well as people who watch it have indicated, he must come in straight away! The main reason is that it will mean Petrie and Motlop won't have the first and second best defenders, but second and third, and while that happens Corey Jones gets the fourth. All of a...
