Reasonable case to make that Port should have or could have won a couple more (they were minor premiers during Brisbane's run).
Its still a stretch though.
Alternatively, Ben McKay and Weitering holding down FB and CHB?
We'd get Ben for cheaper too. Easier sell too to get Ben to come across to Carlton than it would be for North to get Harry.
Thank you.
I've posted this before on the Carlton but ive always seen Sammo as a visceral player. In the thick of it, fly by the seat of his pants... hes amazing. On the fly and working on gut instinct he does his best work. Problem is is we (well the coaches at least) have some deranged belief...
This is true, but has he polled in losses before? It just seems his current more "outside" role seems to be reliant on you midfield winning the stoppages. Guess we'll see, but Brownlow aside, the guy is absolute class.
My dude, we have Cripps. Do you really believe Carlton made a play for Oliver? Hes not what our list needs in terms of balance. Surely you understand this
He was influential in helping your club get that elusive second flag. He'll be well looked after in retirement by staying a one club player.
Is he worth $1M? Absolutely. Would he take a $800k per year contract if it means you might be able to get your third? I think so. The guy oozes loyalty.
Would he improve our list? Of course. But in not where our list really needed the boost, so it would be marginal compared to Williams and Saad. And terms of TPP and overall trade cost it becomes a list killer.
We'd be in the same position as you guys. Too many inside midfielders and not enough...
If we persist in trying to turn him into a small defender then we deserve to lose him.
With his talent and disposal he needs to be played on the half-forward line. He should be our last kick into the forward 50, not the first or second kick out of defence. We are utterly wasting him. Hes...
You finished bottom 3 on percentage, have lost two thirds of your half-back line, and have added nothing to an already dominated midfield.
14th is an optimistic prediction. 8th suggests youve found some of the old kool-aid.
He first has to accept the offer. He wants to captain a premiership and while its debatable whether or not he can achieve that at Carlton would Fremantle or West Coast be willing to offer him their captaincy in addition to a lucrative contract?
You think winning 8 games from 22 in 2016 carries more weight than 7 wins from 17 in 2020?
Honestly, i thought that was the more moronic part of his post and thats why i didn't bother addressing it.
Wow. Really? Ok. Lets take a look at those finals.
2013: Lost the Elimination Final to the team which finished 9th and played no further part.
2014: Lost the Elimination Final in a flogging after winning the toss and choosing to kick INTO category 5 winds and played no further part.
2015: Lost...
My takeaway from your post is that you dont watch Sammo and think reading a stats sheet gives you some kind of unique insight into how and where he plays. It doesnt.
Ive yet to have an Essendon supporter explain to me how they’ll win a flag without first winning a final. Do you think other clubs will just forfeit if they draw Essendon in a finals series?
Id like to see Durdin a couple of times this year to get a look at him. Plus onfield minutes with Eddie may become limited moving forward. Three or so looks at Durdin would be good while he gets his conditioning for AFL. Just want to see if his spark translates from SANFL to AFL.
