I was making a small joke September Glory, scottwade got it, see.
As for Melbourne clubs sniffing around, too early to tell but there's a few rumours floating about Collingwood, also Melbourne and Essendon mentioned.
Oh yeah FWIW I don't think Lovett's worth a real 1st round draft pick but Ray...
In what way is Tenace ahead of Ray? He played basically no senior football this year and would be in line to be delisted. Clarke's no golden boy either. A couple of reasonable games toward the end of the season hardly puts him back on track.
Looks alright until you read the part about how we'd have been better off with Tenace, Clarke or Bradley, one of whom is about to end up delisted or traded for bugger all, the next is the scapegoat of his team everytime they lose and the other got delisted and picked up by Freo. Just shows what...
Wian, believe it. I've met Rodney Eade due to TCD being a top bloke. It's not like they hang out and go bowling (as far as I know) but TCD has had communication with Rocket in the past and has been open about that. Unlike others who, you know, may not post often but are 100% spot on.There's a...
I don't think anyone would suggest Gia intentionally broke Kosi's skull. He initiated contact yes, so was at fault to a degree, but the head clash was a side product of the bump. Gia was nearly knocked out himself. Sorry I said myself not to go there but I don't think Gia should be slandered as...
I'll bet good money this doesn't happen. If Eags doesn't get up look for Harbrow to take his spot. 3 Ruckman would be pointless against the Saints. Street brings nothing we need with the team we have on the park.
Don't forget the belting early last year too.
I wouldn't call the other's acts of toughness. Sure Hargrave's was a big right and from a Dogs perspective the Kosi thing wasn't a deliberate attempt to hurt him, certainly not as badly as he was anyway (but let's not get into that). The toughness...
I saw them at the POW in 94 (?). I've disliked pretty much everything they've done since then (God, Mellon collie was overrated drivel), and even the early stuff sounds kinda dated, but if he wants to go then, you know, whatever. Maybe we'll have a good win and he'll be stuck watching a bald...
This is a school holiday thread if ever I've seen one. Maybe we should pick up Rutten, G.Ablett and Dean Cox while we're at it. Then my supercoach team could be the Bulldogs .
Actually Scott Welsh's pressure and chase in the first 2 games has been first rate and most impressive. And we all know Eags ain't an enforcer but much like Aaron Fiora will kill you from within 60.
We have had some good games but you guys have fairly regularly towelled us up too. Your mids...
Re: Round 2 Official Teams
I just can't see it. If he was versatile enough to possibly play a role down back, maybe, but he isn't, and neither are Minson and Hudson. I think if we were going to bring in a tall as a last minute emergency it would have been someone who could play down back if we...
No, you're right he should make up his mind based upon 1/12 of the evidence at hand. that's what i always do. That's why i think Jason Akermanis is rubbish, because I watched the first 10 minutes of the match last week and made up my mind based on that.
The fact is that yes Cam, had an ordinary...
Just wanted to echo Coon Dog's thoughts. It was a class act by the Crows boys who must have been well disappointed. Nothing in the match, and probably summed up by the old line, you win some, you lose some.
Can I just inject this one point, that being that Henderson, who appears to have a more AFL ready body, looked impressive in the pre-season but also has been able to do a full pre-season. Grant had a broken arm when we drafted him, and as has been documented recently was bitten by a stingray...
Possibly, but he may not have made it to our next pick, and apparently Clayton liked him a bunch.
The choice was going to be Tarrant or Ward at 19. North swooped on Tarrant so we ended up wth Cal Ward, who we may have picked regardless.
Grant is actually 193cm and was rated by most as a potential key forward. Your wicked insight about us needing a gun power forward is brilliant and a new concept to this board. Perhaps we should have finished last and got a priority pick in the draft year when Riewoldt and Kosi were available...
Who's to say that Hill's potential is greater than Gia's current best anyway? I don't think we are a team that can afford to play less than our best available players if we want to WIN games. I think the players drafted last year will get picked in the side when the opportunity comes up and when...
One I would suggest also has a proven track record, while the other has played one game in a shellacking where he looked out of place. Not to say I don't believe Hill will be a player, he certainly has gotten better as the pre-season has gone on, but I don't think Gia should be written off...
When he came to us he was a stick and I think it's taken him a while to build up some muscle. He certainly looks a lot bigger in the last year or so. Hopefully he continues to do that and can compete better in that area. His running and spoiling ability are good so there's tools there to work...
I thought Wight showed promise as a tall backman in 06. He had a poor season last year and has to work on his handling and disposal, but he can certainly play a negating role. He will most likely miss the first couple of rounds anyway due to his hammy, but he should by no means be written off...
I agree, if Brian misses we are in trouble, we can cope with Morris getting the 2nd tall and Doogs taking probably Tippett or Bock, but if Morris has to be the No 1 defender and we're left with Shaggy playing above his height & weight yet again, then we can be exploited. As you've pointed out...
Undoubtedly Adelaide will try to load up their forward line with talls, however whatever you think of Minson at FF, they will have to play a tall (probably Rutten) on him and also a tall (probably Bassett) on Welsh. So they will still be somewhat limited as to the amount of guys they can throw...
I kind of covered this in the other thread but maybe Eade thought the young guys deserved a shot. Grant had become somewhat limited as to the role he could play. Williams seemed ready to step up to CHB which would leave Grant to play where? He'd played a lot loose in the backline in 06 but I'd...
I may be wrong, but as you're only allowed to have 2 vets that are exempt from the list, wouldn't Johnno have moved up and filled one of these spots as they would have been Grant and West before. Therefore we did get to draft a player to fill his spot. I'm disappointed Grant is not there anymore...
