I'd rather he stay, I imagine everyone hopes he does. But I wouldn't begrudge him a chance of regular footy at another side.
Sydney were interested earlier in the season. It would be interesting to see where they will fit him into their side, and what role they will have him playing.
Hopefully that A grader is Mackenzie in a few years.
I think it would just mean that the main four midfielders spend a little more time rotating through the forward line. Newcombe and Day can have an impact there already, but Nash and Worpel really need to work on this area of their game...
If I was to pick our best team from 2000 to date, it would be:
Sicily - Lake - Burgoyne
Hodge - Gibson - Birchall
McEvoy - Lewis - Newcombe
Smith - Mitchell - Crawford
Moore - Roughead - Gunston
Breust - Franklin - Rioli
Bench:
T. Mitchell
Hill
Stratton
Day
Hale
Not strange, he's got some rare athletic traits for a ruckman.
He looked way off being physically ready for AFL football when he got his odd game, though another preseason or two will do him wonders.
Could work, he did play his best footy there. It might make the game simple for him again.
Though he faces the same issues in that there are several players ahead of him (currently, anyway) - Barrass, Sicily, Frost, Scrimshaw, Battle, Impey, Amon, Hardwick. But he offers that run and drive that...
Take the win and the gametime for Nwaneri, Porter and MLS.
I wish the senior players didn't play so much gametime though. Good to see Jesus and Sterling get through a game though.
Nwaneri looks like a huge talent.
Where does he play? Who comes out of the side? He needs a big injury-free preseason (this is really the key) as his form this year was mostly terrible. We already need to drop two others from the side to make way for Barrass and Battle coming, and better players like Weddle will seemingly be...
We surely aren't moving both Amon and Weddle out of the backline at the same time. Our run/drive from defence would be really affected by that.
Unless there's a new iteration of the gameplan in the works?
How are we fitting all of - Scrimshaw, Battle, Sicily, Frost, Barrass, Hardwick, Impey, Amon and maybe Weddle in the same side/backline? I think we all presume Weddle will move up the field next season, but even without him that's eight players.
Blanck, McCabe, Serong would all be developing...
