I wouldn't be opposed to giving him some games if it meant a young player who was better off developing more at SANFL level could do so. Sometimes it's just better to have a kid getting 20 disposals a week in the SANFL rather than 5 disposals a week in the AFL.
I'd suggest if Dangerfield has an ounce of ambition then he wants to win a premiership. If our club can't offer that opportunity then you have to expect he will leave.
The problem is either that the coaches are incapable of implementing their game plan or they just don't see any issues with how we are playing at the moment. If the players cannot play the type of football required, do something different.
The players just seem disillusioned and deflated. You...
He seemed to be dumped in defence against the Doggies. Couldn't really get into the game. Whenever he gets the ball it seems to be from a hospital handball from a team mate. I really do feel sorry for the guy. He's got the weight of a state on his shoulders.
I've been wondering what the story was with the crowds for a long time. I don't really have any idea about Port games, but my theory on Crows games is that the environment seems to get more and more artificial as the years go by.
The reason I say artificial is that it seems like as a...
I watched the SANFL highlights video with Aiden Riley in it. Pretty disappointing. He's too hard at the football. Not sure he'll ever get a game with us if he thinks he can actually attack the football.
I guess the concern would then become whether many of the players outside of the current 22 are ready to be playing in the AFL. If the current players are struggling, I'd hate to think how bad things could get if we just started replacing what few senior players we have with debutantes.
I always wondered why Reilly hasn't been more of a success. He seemed like a good attacking midfielder with a booming kick. He used to be really efficient with his disposal as well. I wonder if his role in recent years as a tagger has really negated any attacking flair he once had. Seems like a...
Maybe it all just comes down to the club needing a change. It's not specifically a problem with Neil Craig or the players, but the combination of them has just become stale. Craigy doesn't exactly feel like a breath of fresh air. 7 years in any job is a long time.
I think it's more the manner of the results we've had this season. No one expects us to win every game, but you want the team to be competitive.
Look at North Melbourne and Brisbane this season. Both teams have had a distinct lack of success with a combined 5 wins from 20 games. Each of...
I could maybe accept that if there was a sense of passion when we're leading in games. It's as if every time we kick a goal we're expecting the opposition to get two. We might have a young and inexperienced side, but we're seriously missing some youthful enthusiasm. I'd just like to see the boys...
This is what I really don't understand. We have a young side who we were all pretty excited about heading into this season. It seems like whenever we kick a goal there's minimal celebration. It's like the players have been told to control their emotions.
I don't remember the specific game...
I wonder if these discussions between the players and coaches stem from the coaches trying to force a game plan that the players currently aren't capable of implementing?
Not entirely true. I thought Jaensch had a pretty solid match. It was also good to see Bernie Vince find a bit of form.
It was pretty amazing to see some of the disposal counts though. Scott Thompson only had 21, Douglas had 19 and VB had only 14 disposals. I'm still trying to figure out why...
Hopefully we hear some news from the club tomorrow. It would definitely be great to have Knights on board for the rest of his career.
Assuming Knights does ink a new deal with the Crows, you'd have to wonder how aggressive Adelaide actually intends to be come trade week.
Easy to forget Maric has only played 68 games. This season he has played his longest stint in a single season with the Crows and has been the only guy who has looked close to a No.1 ruckman. We've seen him growing into more of a leader because of that. He's also one of the plethora of Crows who...
While Roo would be awesome to have as a coach, I think as a club we're still suffering a hangover from the premiership golden era. Until these old faces are out the door it's hard to imagine any of the younger players commanding anywhere near as much respect. The team is going to look very...
That song sure is bad. Then their logo looks similar to Tip Top Sunblest. And it's a bit alarming how similar the Crows away guernsey looks to the Gold Coast clash guernsey. Did anyone else think that?
I think the idea of Reilly playing as a tagger was based on the idea that he would be more damaging going in the opposite direction. A traditional tagger type like Shirley didn't pose much of a threat going forward, and Doughty presented a pretty similar problem.
Reilly leads the team in...
Hard to see him leaving really. Seems to be rated pretty highly by Neil Craig for his versatility. Should be back in the side soon and I expect him to get quite a few games before the season is over.
I think van Berlo is the guy we need to become an elite player. If he's going to be our next captain, which I believe he will be, then he needs to be a guy who commands respect around the league and not just at our footy club.
Soon there will be no one left from our Premiership years and I...
I think we're seeing the end of the clubs golden era. We've been blessed with some ridiculously good players over the last 20 years. These champion players also cast a shadow over a lot of the young talent within the club at the moment.
From 2011 things will be different. If van Berlo is...
OUT: Gunston
In: Symes
I can't imagine Gunston will be given a second game just yet. Neil Craig generally likes to give guys a taste of AFL and then send them back to the SANFL. I'm sure we'll see him again before the season is over. Symes is just too good to leave out of the side at the moment.
