Coach Alastair Clarkson - NMFC Senior Coach - Coaching & Football Discussion

We have to give Clarko time. We know he is one of the best coaches out there and we are lucky to have him. There were always questions about whether Shaw or Noble were good coaches however there are no excuses for the playing group now. Unfortunately the culture at north Melbourne has been...

Certified Legendary Thread Alastair Clarkson II - signs 5 year contract w/ North Melbourne 19 August 2022 - news breaks p360

Just calm the farm down everybody! Clarko is still most likely to come to us. What’s he supposed to say to the reporter who ambushed him at the airport this evening? If he said Essendon is not at option then it will be clear he has chosen North and ruined the strategically planned and timed...

Coach Be vewy vewy quiet we're hunting coaches.

It's a buyer's market for coaches at the moment esp. with Clarko available. North have to take advantage of this moment in time as opportunities like this don't always come along.

Interestingly, the list of clubs that may be looking for a new coach this year are GWS, Port Adelaide, West Coast and North Melbourne. It is quite possible if it is Clarko's preference to stay in Melbourne that North would be his only choice..... Timing is everything.....

List Mgmt. Glenn Luff - Has resigned as list manager

Love this development. There has been something seriously rotten with the culture from admin to player level for the past 20 years and the place needs a good clean out. This may even cost us gun players such as JHF and Zurhaar in the short term due to all the instability however it will set us...

    Certified Legendary Thread Alastair Clarksons.

I can only see this working if Noble voluntarily wants to step down as he has had enough of being head coach and would be happy to General Manager / List Manager and Clarko has a soft spot for North and genuinely wants to help us be a powerhouse again. I'm sure Clarko would be able to command...

    Bye Bye Nobles

Yes, unfortunately the culture of nearly the entire playing group over 20 years old is rotten to the core. The only players I would keep going forward with the rebuild would be JHF, McKay, Ford, Curtis, Comben, Phillips, Powell, CCJ, Bergman, Taylor, Goater, Edwards, Larkey and Perez. The rest...

    Opinion Commentary & Media V

What a mess. There is something seriously wrong with the culture at North Melbourne and it has been like this for quite some time. The list seriously needs a major clean out. I can see why they delisted 10+ players last year. They have to delist another 10+ this year and probably again the year...

Player Watch #30: Charlie Comben - defender or forward? CC T5 in the AFL for avg.intercept marks p/game - re-signed until end of 2027

Why don't people get it that CHOM is playing in VFL to get some match hardening due to his history of multiple bony injuries/fractures before being put into the firsts? Similar story with Tom Powell. We all know both have potential to be great players but are coming back from injury so they need...

    Preview Round 1 2022- Hawks v Roos MCG - Sunday March 20- 1.10pm

Yes, Powell is going to be a superstar but maybe he’s still carrying some injury from last year and the club want to ease him back in this season and not overload him? We all don’t want to see him physically breakdown again and miss a large part of the season. I’m pretty confident the club...

    Player Watch #2: Jaidyn Stephenson

This is a real worry. A fractured hip requiring surgery is not a small operation and not without significant risk particularly in an elite AFL athlete. He may have jeopardized his career. I really hope not as he is a real talent. Fingers crossed no surgery required or only a very minor break.

Player Watch #30: Charlie Comben - defender or forward? CC T5 in the AFL for avg.intercept marks p/game - re-signed until end of 2027

Yes it is quite concerning indeed. I'm sure the club doctors would have checked his bone mineral density. He does seem awfully prone to fractures which is worrying for his longevity.

    Game Day Round 11, 2021: St Kilda v North Melbourne @ Marvel Stadium | Saturday May 29 @ 4:35pm

This is the worst NM side I have ever seen. Absolutely shocking. The last 2 weeks have been horrendous. Ridiculous game plan. You can’t just keep going to the corridor and turning it over if there are NO options there. Why so dumb?! I just don’t see it with our so called gun players Jy...

Player Watch #24: Tom Powell - signed thru 2026

Not only does he have unbelievable hands, but his kicking is also excellent. Has great penetration and usually hits a target. Surprising given his slight build. Great pick up North.

Player Watch #9: Luke Davies-Uniacke - signs until end 2025! Runner up in the 2022 Syd Barker Medal Award

I hope so. But I must say he has been disappointing for a pick 4 and all the associated hype. Doesn’t seem to have the drive to really smash in and be an elite player. You see an occasional glimpse but then goes missing for large periods. Frustrating..... Kicking for goal is also disappointing...

Past #10: Ben Cunnington - will retire from the AFL after * game - 238 games/95+ goals/2x Syd Barker Medalist/Shinboner - thanks for everything Cunners

Glad to see Cunnington back out there playing amazing football. Was a bad injury last year and was worried he would never make it back. A pleasure to watch and seriously underrated. Goldstein, Cunnington and Tarrant are absolute A graders and we need more of them as they are all getting on.

Player Watch #9: Luke Davies-Uniacke - signs until end 2025! Runner up in the 2022 Syd Barker Medal Award

Unfortunately can’t seem to get it together. Doesn’t have the required intensity or consistency to make it at the highest level. He is in his 4th year now and even first year players like Powell who are built like a stick are already playing better games than him.

    Autopsy vs Carlton - Round 8, 2020

No cunnington has a huge flow on effect on the rest of our midfield. We need to learn how to play without him. Good learning experience for Jy today. He probably has never been heavily tagged in his career before.

Saw that. Did not look like he wanted to be out there. Not a good sign. Champion players just don’t do that. Either he’s injured or he’s not happy with nmfc
