Tommy Powell?..
If he's been screwed over as much as been suggested (training with the wingers but played in the guts, held to a higher standard than others supposedly and forced to play VFL despite others playing worse), I could see how he could get upset at the mixed messaging he's getting and then if he cops a personal spray, he'd be like, what the hell, I'm being told one thing, expected to do another, barely given an opportunity as a sub and then lambasted in front of the entire playing group when I barely had any time on ground?

Tail wagging the dog?? At least the hyper-reactive “sack nobles” posts might thin out a bit. We’ve had three coaches, same senior players, same shit results. The common denominator is….
I’ve been saying it for some time now that Ziebell isn’t a good captain and I got attacked personally!!

He might talk the talk around the club, but his fitness levels are pathetic, and his one field leadership is non existent. When Noble came in the first thing he should have done was change captains.

This turns my stomach, I’m glad he tore them a new one.
Apologies from the coach, ****ing pathetic! They lost by a 108pts for **** sake.

Watching the Brisbane presser after that game was one of the lowest points in my nearly 60years supporting this club, you could tell Fagan was embarrassed and sad for his mate. It’s the first time I’ve seen our club or any club for that matter pitied by an opponent.

Now I’m reading the coach said sorry.
The tail is wagging the dog and we are ****ed.

Unless he said something completely heinous (which you’d think he’d be sacked for) I’m disappointed in the players.
We can’t even move the cupcakes on.

We are seriously 10 years away from being anywhere near good let alone a contender. We are the new Melbourne

The idea of bringing someone in like Hurn, to help set standards, is seemingly much more attractive; although that was something that I hoped Tom Lynch would do.

The question now is, will Noble be too afraid of giving them anymore sprays when they deserve it out of fear of this reaction again? Will he feel like he's walking on eggshells?

This just tells me that we have the biggest bunch of weak minded sooking cry babies in the league. What do you expect after coping a 100+ point hiding? Do they have no self respect for themselves, let alone the club? The fact that they can't cop a spray, even if it gets personal (I mean what could've been the worse he said,? You shouldn't have been born? That they are pathetic and should give up and start searching for a new career? That they have no pride in themselves?) I genuinely would like to know what was said if possible, because if I screwed up that badly at my job on such a consistent basis, I wouldn't expect just a spray, I'd expect to be fired, and some of these blokes will know this well and truly enough come end of season and there is no new contract waiting for them or they are traded. Though we could do something stupid like sign ziebell to a multi year deal (oh wait, we did).

This also reeks of weak leadership within the playing group, that they can't hold themselves accountable foe the debacle. And to top it off, has the apology or simplification of the game plan worked? Absolutely not. If they have simplified it and they still can't execute it, doesn't that mean these blokes are just thick? I mean, we always knew that 90% of the team were poor decision makers on the field and have poor game smarts/intelligence but maybe it's just not an on field issue and we genuinely have a very large group of dumb footballers. I dislike Noble apologising, it shows that the tail is waging the dog when they don't like it and they get told cold hard facts (that this team is close to complete trash)

These guys are supposed to be professionals. The number of people who would kill to have the opportunity that they have and they piss it away. It honestly infuriates me of the lack of accountability and hard truths that this playing group needs to hear. I will give a pass to the 1st and 2nd year players given their infancy and honestly, they are our best performing players but maybe someone like a jelwood or dangerfraud as much as I dislike them needs to tell ziebell that he's s*** and never achieved anything on the field in his entire career. All JZ has done is build his super and property portfolio as Bard had taught him.

Sorry for the rant but needed to get that off my chest. I just really dislike the kiddy gloves that so many need to be treated with in this day and age (and I'm only in my mid 30s). There is a time for coaching, development and encouragement. But also a time when hard truths need to be told
I have been saying for weeks, there is no on field leadership in this group. Recent players like Spud Feritto, Drew Petrie must shudder when they watch this generation of weak kneed senior players go to water everytime the opposition puts pressure on them. Simpkin should be dropped for a start. I see more hardness in JHF, Paul Curtis, BenMac, Eddie Ford, and Curtis Taylor than some of the senior players.

It also depends on who he sprayed and who he got personal with.

If he sprayed Powell, the sub and left some other notable favorites off of the spray, you can understand why there might be a few disgruntled players.

This is not good, particularly given that 2 of our last 3 top draft picks are both from interstate. If the playing group hate the coach, intestate players can get homesick very quickly.

Concerning. Of particular interest to me is the comments that it was the younger players who were targeted and the denial that one was in tears. Especially as one of the locals saw JHF teared up in the bus. Powell being out of favour suddenly looks a bit different too.

If it was the older heads who were arcing up then I would be advocating Noble double down tbh, but it's genuinely worrying if it's the younger blokes. Really unsure what to make of it other than the fact that it's never good, regardless of reason, if the coach has to undermine themselves to the entire playing group.

The gameplan stuff is probably true. There was **** all discernible most of these games, but some OK passages (usually stemming from the middle) the last couple of weeks. Shame it still all falls to shit the moment we have to enter the forward line and that our transition is nonexistant.

Surely it wasn’t JHF, regardless, that rumour of him is also worrying.

Only the most biased fan couldn’t admit he’s starting to appear very frustrated and a bit forlorn out on the field as well. Unbelievable we are only 8 games in and we haven’t played Melbourne yet (god help us)

Really is the season from hell tbh.

He hates losing and that was a bloody bad loss. I can't imagine he was one of the ones sprayed but I have no reason to doubt the poster that said he was visibly upset in the bus, the two things aren't necessarily directly related. Indirectly though, if nobes went on a rampage and then no one (including him) could be bothered to try and raise spirits or check in with the blokes after that then yeah, that'd do the trick.

Some real fossil ***** in here. Didn’t take long to turn on the playing group. Modern coaching is about man managing and developing personal relationships and trust with your players. If you aren’t familiar with Jurgen Klopp’s work at Liverpool, take a look into the bonds he has built with his playing group and the successful turn around the club has made.

If he’s gone straight to a 1st or 2nd year player, someone who he wouldn’t have a deep bond with yet and has completely torn him to shreds in front of the group, you blokes really think that’s the correct route? Spare me.

We’ve got a captain who’s done sweet **** all for years, other senior players who don’t get near it but so far no heat has come on them in terms of selection, but yes let’s turn on the young blokes, who Noble has admitted he went too hard on.

What a mess. There is something seriously wrong with the culture at North Melbourne and it has been like this for quite some time. The list seriously needs a major clean out. I can see why they delisted 10+ players last year. They have to delist another 10+ this year and probably again the year after for us to start afresh. What a disaster. I don’t envy Noble.

No no no. It was written by an idiot. It can’t be true. Hey, LuvtheKangas

So, you think the players are all pea-hearts who started sooking? Or was it possibly a couple who got upset and started whinging to people, hence the story.

I'm happy to hear Noble went hard on them, but I'm yet to be convinced that there was wholesale dummy-spitting from the player group.

Frankly I’m pointing the finger at the senior members

I mean how does he/players/performance recover from this? On one hand, you have Noble giving them a warranted spray. And for a guy who was a teacher, I very much doubt any of it crossed lines of OH&S but that would come out in the aftermath. The other, you have players telling the coaches how they want to play and ultimately calling the shots so much so, that the coach changed his game plan to make it more compromising?
And not to mention all of it is out in the public now.
Like, if a bag of marshmallows gets hurled at them by Notth supporters - I wouldn’t think it would be too unsuspecting.
