Will really spoil his off season fun but from a football perspective he has 12 weeks before pre season starts which is about the time it takes to rehab from this injury (and of course he has been through this before).

Onward and upward Charlie!
Yep not the end of the world....collar bone shouldn't be a big deal and hopefully the joint not impacted. Better now that in the pre-season!!! Small blessings.

So this is his second broken collarbone. To go with

Broken wrist

Broken cheekbone

Broken leg & knee

Stress fracture in back

Stress fracture in leg

That’s a lot of breaks. Hopefully cunners can hook him up with some milk.

Milk actually leaches calcium from the bones.

It has a lot of calcium in it, but creates acidity which is counterproductive to your net calcium level.

"Another study of more than 96,000 people found that the more milk men consumed as teenagers, the more bone fractures they experience as adults."

Cruel end to year for young Roo
Herald Sun - Friday, 20 Aug 2021 - Page 85

NORTH Melbourne’s recent debutant Charlie Comben has been ruled out of back-to-back games after breaking his collarbone in a freak accident at training.

Comben, 20, kicked a goal and had six disposals in the Kangaroos’ loss to Sydney last week.

But the pick 31 from the 2019 national draft, who had to wait the best part of two seasons to break through for his maiden game, will have to wait again for his second.

North Melbourne confirmed the incident on Thursday .

The club said it was a shame for the young Kangaroo, who had been hoping to finish off the year against Adelaide on Sunday.

“It’s unlucky for Charlie who debuted last week and was looking to string a run of games together,” North Melbourne’s general manager of football Brady Rawlings said.

“Charlie has done a power of work on his body and strength, and to suffer an injury from a really innocuous, unlucky accident, is obviously really disappointing for him.

“Since arriving at the club he’s overcome multiple setbacks , but shown great dedication to get his body right.”

I've only seen / heard this claim from alternative / vegan diet proponents. I don't think it is accepted science.

Not the best news but hopefully he can still get a full pre-season in for 2022. It's right about now we'd love a player like Jarred Waite to be available as a free agent to help make the Comben, Edwards and Larkey transition easier.
you would have a fit waitey on the pitch anytime , loved watching him.

Is there anyone vaguely medical on here who can say something categorical about Patient Comben?

this is AFL football
Blokes 6 foot plus 90kg of pure muscle, and they are the little blokes, belting you every time you go near the pill

what possible chance is there of him not getting collision injuries in the future?

Yes it is quite concerning indeed. I'm sure the club doctors would have checked his bone mineral density. He does seem awfully prone to fractures which is worrying for his longevity.

The link I provided was not from a vegan affiliate source, but it's hardly controversial that Dairy isn't a good source of calcium - https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/calcium-and-milk/

I agree that you'll find some studies showing vegans are more prone to fractures and others that they're less prone. Neither here nor there really.

Given 3/4 of the worlds' population is lactose intolerant to some degree, it's a testament to the power of advertising that we all grow up thinking it is good for us.
