Doc still has a few years left. Doesn't have to be the best player on our list to be the best option as skipper. Don't rush it with Walsh. Wait a couple of years and can still lead for the next 6.
What I am sure is going to be an unpopular opinion. End of the year we should re-jig our onfield leadership. Docherty to skipper. Walsh/Weitering VC. Cripps to play footy.
(I don't think Cripps is a very good leader .... inspirational at times, yes .... but not our best option as skipper)
For the sake of discussion ;) as this looks like a very unlikely get to me, but seems like everyone is assuming that Rowell would be the one we were after .... I reckon Anderson would be a better fit for our midfield.
To be fair though ... we're hardly going to come out shouting that we've got cap issues.
I think that there's a combo of waiting for the overall cap to increase, along with us going longer with key assets as risk mitigation for the impending addition of a 19th club ... and that's got us in a...
I haven't got an issue with Durdin - and I don't think I'm inferring that even slightly in my post.
My suggestion of Tomlinson is that I reckon he's the best mature defender/utility across all clubs who currently isn't getting a game. (he's got May, Lever and Petty in front of him). Just...
Similar thinking to the above, I'd like to see us get a little more cover with a bit of height. I actually wouldn't have minded us asking questions of Tomlinson - especially if Marchbank's body doesn't hold together.
I reckon Harmes could be a good fit for us - bit of a harder edge around the contest. Guessing it'd also be a budget issue. Also gives us a bit more cover as I'm nervous about the type of injuries we've seen with Hewett and Kennedy.
You could probably mount a fair argument that Higgins and Dahlhaus haven't actually been misses - and contributed to the squads development. Jenkins and Steven probably the true 'misses'.
Re Schache discussion - what is he 24? 25? - lot more exposed form to fill our backup KP stocks than any...
I think we might be seeing a slight cultural shift happening with respect to list management - obviously the focal point right now are the Cats.
I'm putting 1 and 1 together and making 5 - so it'd be interesting to see some more rigourous statistical analysis across the league.
I reckon there...
Hey, I have a history of taking part in plenty of rumour discussion, and I enjoy the banter around it - even when most of it is tongue in cheek .... and I've never taken down anyone after a rumour has been proven to be incorrect (which I think is poor form) .... it's just the suggestion that Dow...
Flip this around .... can you imagine if the "Big Fish" was ours and an oppo club was offering up two players who only played a handfull of games this year? Yeah lets trade McKay to the Dopers for Ham and Snelling .... I mean go ahead and make up some rumours but let's get a bit more in the...
I love Cotters - but if Sidebottom plays wing he'll be too smart and experienced for him (or LOB). Newnes a better matchup for Steele IMO.
Cotters on WHE. Leave LOB out.
I'm not sure you've seen too many Richmond games this year if that's your view of him. He's spent plenty of time in the midfield and has had significant impact. He's as hard as a cat's head and leaves nothing in the tank. I reckon he would be the sort of player Vossy would love.
If he's...
Interesting discussion. It's also about having the right mix in our mids.
Oppo clubs will be having a good look at the weekend's game in terms of a template to cause us some damage. They pretty much conceded stoppages, forced shallow forward 50 entries then destroyed us with run and spread on...
Sure, but is Frydenberg just a mate of Sayers, or does our board sit around and say "Let's pick the worst Federal Treasurer in the most corrupt government we've ever had as our number 1 guy - that'll endear us to our members"... seriously, we're scraping the bottom of the barrel. We need to do...
In his defence - when you have a midfield that refuses to run with their man (or at least get back and cover dangerous space) - you could put any defender in the comp in the same position as Plowman and get a similar result.
Maybe he follows a similar trajectory to Mills with the Swans? - couple of years in defence didn't do Mills too much harm when finally released into the midfield.
Feel like Stocker has developed into our best option at the moment as our tough, nuggety small defender for when we need that type...
