We must beat Essendon, for my sanity. I struggle to find words which can convey to others over an internet forum how much I despise the Bombers. Lets roll those rats.

Massive game. To lose and go 4-6 after all the work we have done to get to 4-4 (now 4-5) will be devastating. Im quitely confident about this match.

I'll say right now, that we will win.

Way too much pace. Way too much run. Won't have to worry about Lloyd (He's in TERRIBLE form).
Slightly worry if Grant can't come up, as you'd assume he'd take Lucas, but plenty of options there.
McPhee reported (although not much in it), Solomon not reported, but will get 2 weeks.

Will be very disappointed if we slip up in this one.

We always play Lloyd into form Christo

Re: Ïf the sydney game wasnt the most important game of the year, the Essendon game I

I'm talking about the guy who got 4 goals kicked on him in the 3rd quater and 2 in the last.Must of been 42.

Re: Ïf the sydney game wasnt the most important game of the year, the Essendon game I

Now you're talking about 2 different people :)

Dale Morris, number 38, in the 3rd quarter. Extremely hard for anyone to stop O'Loughlin when he's in that form, and being so new, he'll learn
Matthew Boyd, number 42, in the 4th quarter. First goal he shouldn't have gone to ground, but he tried desperately to catch the bloke. Second goal was a fantastic kick by Hall.

Boyd's come off 3 very good games in the past three weeks, and being a fan of him, I'd hate to see him get dropped for those 2 incidents.

I don't see it any more important as any other home and away round.
Face it, on yesterday's performance we are not a finals side and Essendon aren't either.
Prefer to lose knowing that we are blooding young talent, developing skills, confidence and a game plan.

Tentatively agree, but think this is one we should win, so will be very disappointed if we drop it. I thought the Swans would beat us - a combination of the SCG and them being the best at locking down an opposition - but think we should run the dons ragged.

Good point Ernie although going on current form most teams are not finals sides either as they are so inconsistent with only Geelong and West Coast certainties for the eight.

As for yesterday I would agree that we are not ready for finals football, however even though we played ******** I don't believe the Swans can play much better than that and on the wide open expanses of the MCG I think we would kill them.

Stuff that.

We are good enough to make the 8, one narrow loss to Sydney "at home" does not mean we are not.

Essendon are vulnerable and exactly the sort of side we should beat, add to that I cant stand them and want to be able to enjoy the sight of less dolled up clueless teenage girls all in brand spanking new Essendon attire and of course the number 18 on their jumpers trudging to their matches as we send them crashing down the ladder.

We are more than capable of beating Essendon, and my god I'll be angry if we dont.

I tend to agree. I was disapointed to lose yesterday, but not overly concerned. Down yesterday were Cooney, Gilbee, Gia, Murphy, West, Harris, Eagleton and Murphy, yet we only lost by 13 points. Had these guys got into the game earlier we would have walked all over them!

Re: Ïf the sydney game wasnt the most important game of the year, the Essendon game I

Ok I should state I would take a win this week over a loss.
I was at the game yesterday and from what I saw we aren't a finals team until we get some bigger bodies in the midfield(a year or two on the Griffins, Cooneys, Wight etc), experience at the contest (Minson, Skipper, Wight) and at least 1 dominant tall forward. If we make the finals it will be all Eade's doing.

Beating Essendon will only mean we beat another side in the 9-16 bracket.

I fear yesterday's game exposed us to other clubs how poor we were at the stoppages/clearances against strong tough midfields.

Re: Ïf the sydney game wasnt the most important game of the year, the Essendon game I

We were ordinary yesterday. We were ordinary and we had more scoring shots. We were bad. I think however, we'll still be playing finals this year.

Exactly. For the first time in a long time I believe we are genuinely better then them. Would love to smash the arrogant pricks

Into a bloody pulp, then suck their eyes out and throw their entrails off the bridge outside TD onto the train tracks where they will be repeatedly ran over by the Broadmeadows line train?
