357 match thread posts from 12 Dragons may not seem like a lot, but it was actually the second most posts by a team in Round 15 (behind the Roys with 377)! That, combined with a healthy 56% share of the thread, suggests that our activity levels cannot be faulted - although it would be nice to see another 2-3 Dragons in there. DJ75, BringBackTheAnchor, Chief, Matt_352, Ashman OG, Mooresome ... come back, we love you!

Braklet was up and about with week with 78 posts, as was Bonz with a very solid 75 of his own. DragoDelph (49), Strigoi (34), T2B_ (33) and Hatchy1992 (15) were also quite prevalent.

Two weeks to go in the season, with finals just around the corner. Let's finish this off with a wet sail and lock down that double chance for the finals. You know what's better than a championship? Two championships! Go Dragons!​

One of the awards that is issued each season at Dragons FFC is the Coach's MVP. Each week Coach will cast votes based on who he thinks performs best on the qooty field. Raw statistics, positional dominance and big moments in the sim are taken into account, and Coach crunches the numbers with a complex algorithm to deal out 3-2-1 votes. Coach AceAndy still has the big job at the Dragons, despite an increasing reputation for sudden, strange onfield moves that either pay off brilliantly or end in total disaster, fast becoming known as Craaaaazy Andy, but after a premiership in season 32, understandably still has the keys to the machine that is the Dragons.

Coach's thoughts:

So another of the reverse fixtures rolls around and we came up against the mob where I have to spend half the week trying to pry serial_thrilla away from Marlowe and try to get him to do some actual training. Yes, that's right, the Gold City Royals, allegedly captained by PMBangers.

Our form has come together at the right time of the season but the Royals have had a bit of a habit of spoiling our parties, so would we manage to snag another win this time?

[RD 14], Conditions for this match - WARM

Well it was a warm day as the Dragons ran out to meet the Royals. Gold City got the first two goals to kick off proceedings before our co-captain in T2B_ hit back with a major, followed by his partner in crime in Pie 4 Life and then the ever Subway voucher seeking forward pocket in Knifey Spoony (twice!). Likely wanting in on the Subway action, Hatchy1992 kicked a snag next. DJ75 and Bonz (x2) followed up to have us sitting pretty early although the Royals managed two late goals before quarter time, leaving a margin 25 points our way at the first break.

Things were a little more even in the second term. Hatchy1992 secured his voucher with a second goal to his name while Blaze Storm and Bonz got in on the action as well. The Royals managed 3 goals of their own throughout the term meaning at Half Time we had a slightly adjusted margin of just 24 points the Dragons way.

The trend continued quite remarkably in the third term. DragoDelph (x2), and T2B_ once again got amongst the goal scorers while the Royals' CakeEater proved to be a bit of a thorn in our side snagging two goals along with a single to Marlowe which meant that at 3 Quarter Time we had a margin of... 23 points our way. Surely this meant we were on the way to a 22 point victory if things continued?

Well wishful thinking as the final quarter proved to be a bit of a heart stopper and I even found myself Qoogling to see if I could sue the team in case of a heart attack. The first half of the last term was all Royals as they piled on 4 goals, 3 behinds and actually took the lead by 4 points. Bonz, HawkAussie (enjoying a stint in the ruck) and DragoDelph all kicked a major each to get us back out to a 14 point margin as red time neared. The Royals however were not done with yet, as they scored another 2 goals and a minor score to get the score to just 1 point our way.

However, the Dragons held firm and a massive sigh of relief was breathed by both myself and my Switch which had nearly got clenched into oblivion during that suspenseful last quarter. Still, a win is a win!

• In an epic battle, not much between Ulahoopski and Strigoi - the former was probably a smidgeon better. - 85m from 13 to 98.
• In what became a bit of a clinic, T2B_ gave The Filth Wizard a lesson. - 97m from 2 to 99.

Defender highlights: serial_thrilla (9d, 5m) destroyed his direct opponent at Full Back and got a decent amount of ball himself, while Stoods (19d, 4m, 3t), Matt_352 (15d, 6m, 3t) and paraaaa (15d, 1m) all battled hard defensively and got plenty of the pill as well.

Midfield highlights: The Bash Brothers in T2B_ (25d, 6t, 2g) and Pie 4 Life (29g, 4t, 1g) were AGAIN a powerful combination while also hitting the scoreboard. DragoDelph (17d, 5m, 3g, 1b) once again showed his craft around goals as he efficiently hit the scoreboard playing as a centreman while HawkAussie (16d, 7t, 8ho, 1g) battled bravely against the rampant Royals ruck in GreyCrow after one of my famous "ruck shuffles".

Forward highlights: Bonz (7d, 4g, 3b) was doing Bonz things, just lacking a little accuracy, while the two opposing pockets in Knifey Spoony (3d, 2g, 1b) and Hatchy1992 (2d, 2g) once again made it clear they were only in it for the Subway vouchers but kicked multiple goals nonetheless.

The Dragon Spirit Medal is an award that is voted on by all the Dragons FFC players to acknowledge the opposition poster who best dominates the match thread and/or the Qooty field. High quality banter, excellent engagement with all posters, and good humour are all taken into consideration.

So after #grandfinalrematch we hit the first of the reverse fixtures, this time playing the Roys again, which as far as repeat fixtures go is no bad thing.

The thing about the Roys is you know you're always going to get >100 posts from a certain site Admin (no not Chief) as well as being shown around Dragon Island by the enigmatic Mobbs. Combined with a whole lot of elderly Gorilla jokes of course, yours truly being very, very guilty of that.

Anyway, as was alluded to, the Roys have some posting clout but the winner for Round 12 was neither of the Roys mentioned, but rather the great Dingster!

Congrats Ding, well deserved as always.

And while their Dragon Spirit winner in Round 2 was essentially an SFA rent-a-player, this time they will be pleased that their "youf" have been noticed.

For the Round 13 clash vs the Gumbies, please give it up for their youngster in Falconista ! Congrats mate.

Another quiet week last week, this time against the Phoenix back in Round 16. 276 posts from 11 Dragons was once again on the low side, but we were in the middle of the pack for the posting stats this week - the reverse fixtures doing their best to stifle the league! We're now on the cusp of 10k posts for the season though!

A huge week from Strigoi (62) who was at her best, whilst there were valuable contributions from the likes of Bonz (42), DragoDelph (40), T2B_ (27), Braklet (19), Hatchy1992 (11) and Ljp86 (10).

The next week against the Bombers has come and gone - and let's just say the result was a good one. Posting stats for that to appear shortly! Go Dragons!​

Nice win Dragons!! What a fantastic comeback that was in the last 30 minutes of the game. The first two quarters were rather close with a see-sawing contest but the third quarter was pretty tough as we found ourselves trailng by seven goals late in the term. Our fightback in the final quarter was excellent and very happy to see us come back to grab the win and for Bonz to kick the match sealing goal to claim the Fred Medal.

Quite a number of good efforts this week in what was a very entertaining game. Pie 4 Life played another super game along with DragoDelph, Bradesmaen put in another stellar performance along with T2B_ with three goals while playing in the midfield. Bonz led the forward with a bag of five goals while Knifey Spoony and Hatchy1992 secured more Subway vouchers with five goals between them. Matt_352, HawkAussie and paraaaa also had solid patches as well during the game in a really good team effort.

Nice to get a win in such a close match. Next week is a huge game in the first week of the finals so we'll need to be at our best for what will no doubt be a tough contest.

Even a lively Bombers match thread could not save us from the late-season doldrums this week just gone: with only 290 match thread posts from 12 Dragons! Even so - only the Roys and Bombers posted more than us, so we're not alone in this situation: hopefully the finals can liven things up a little.

Strigoi (56 posts) once again led the charge, and she had support from Bonz (46), DragoDelph (34), T2B_ (31), Pie 4 Life (31), Braklet (30) and a re-invigorated Blaze Storm (15). No posts from Knifey Spoony this week though - so his Subway voucher may be rescinded.

For the season as a whole we did pretty damn well though: 10,153 posts from 17 match threads is the fourth highest in the league, and we posted over 300 times on 14 occasions (once against ranked 4th). Posters per match thread ended up at 14.53 per week, which was a bit on the low side (rank 10th) - but hopefully we can rectify that in the off-season.

But that can wait a few weeks, as we once again claimed the MINOR PREMIERSHIP and now charge into the finals with a home qualification final as we aim to defend our title! Go Dragons!​
