Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

Chad Warner
DOB: 19 May 2001
DEBUT: 2020
DRAFT: #39, 2019 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Willetton (WA)/Aquinas College (WA)/East Fremantle (WAFL)

12 months is a long time in footy , and things change quick , but Chady is homesick and will go home , but will play out next year. I will say it again 12 months is a long time . He loves the club . This is why the academy is so important

Its his partner doing the pulling back home i dont see it changing in 12 months.

We will back here whinging how ripped off we got

Seriously, just rip the bandaid off now.

There has been talk of Chad going home over the last 2 or so years. His Mrs is from WA, so I only see the draw home getting stronger from here.

Chad mentions her when he talks about the decision to go home, which I completely understand and is reasonable. It just strengthens the go-home factor.

Just get the deal done, get what we can and move on.

I dont wanna hear the club disillusioned with Freo or WCE offer in 12 months time if he requests a trade.

Fair enough with Dawson we were blindsided but Chad has made his intentions well in advance.

Warner has been in a pretty successful team where he's allowed to play to his strengths. He'll need to weigh up the risk of going to a less successful team & how he'll handle it. Interesting discussions in the Warner household, with the Swans & potential WA teams. I hope it doesn't negatively impact his performance.

It does when your present team is in the Premiership window , and really we still are with some luck
He could go to Freo and be in the premiership window.

He could be home in Perth on a fresh new 1.3mil a season deal in a week's time if he really was that desperate to go home.

Instead he is going to stick with us for another year on maybe a third of that, when he knows he is leaving in 12 months. I'm sceptical.

He's also a young man, who has had plenty of big moments & has a big decision to make. I can understand why he still needs time to figure things out. I hope he signs a 2yr extension or something similar, would obvs love long term commitment but being a bit more realistic.

That's what im hoping and he won't feel tied down for years

If we don't win next year then he might feel bad leaving, as it's seen as abandoning his mates but if we do win then the itch of potentially winning more with his mates could get him to sign a 2 year deal. I'm trying to stay hopeful lol.

I don't care much either way. These blokes are such prima donnas, two of my three daughters did the long distance relationship thing, one of them for nearly ten years in total - they made it work and were on less money than these blokes. I know some can and some can't, yadda yadda yadda, I'm more just venting still ATM.

It's not her

Given how we just went this year, I believe history would suggest next year won't be it.

I would be really happy to be wrong.

Would very much prefer we keep him but if he wants to go home and we can get more for him now...
