Bullshit that he wasn't dropped a couple of weeks back - hasn't helped him or us keeping him in. Not fair on him to be honest. Pretty pissed off with the club on this one.

At least be was harrassing and putting all his weight into tackles last season (sure he wasn't the best tackler but he rarely let one slip). Now his tackles are several rungs lower than those delivered by hartung and polec. I think an auskicker could take him on at the minute. His pressuring isn't the same quality that it was.

All fumbles. Trails his opponent. Zero creation. Couldn't kick the top off a rice pudding. No run.

Needs a spell in the seconds because his confidence is gone. The match committee are doing him no favours. If only spucer was healthy. Would love seeing him and curtis running around.

Already a very limited player, and the fumbles tonight made it even worse.
36 games into his career, needs to be improving, but has no real weapons just "structures and trying hard"

It’s not JAck’s is fault they keep picking him. Leave the personal insults out of it and focus on Nobel and his team who keep putting the kid in the same situation
But if I insult Noble, isn’t that personal too?
I agree though, Noble’s persistence with him is frightening

His height works against him clearly but he’s not clean at all and he can’t afford to be.

That dropped mark. The collective heads dropped all around the team and Carlton were never headed after that.

Stop playing him you s*******

At the start of the year I thought he was starting to get there and tonight I just witnessed one of the worst performances I have seen from a North Melbourne player. He actually had a negative impact tonight he was that shit.

We can’t keep giving games to blokes that belong in the McCains factory. It has to stop.

F*** me - blokes played a shit game. Sure, drop him but the talk of writing him off and never letting him on the field is embarrassing.

He's 20 years old.

4th at the club for pressure acts over the course of the season and 6th for tackles.

This, combined with us being extremely skinny for small forwards is why he'll (probably) play more often than not this season - despite it probably being best for him that he go back to the 2's and build his confidence.

Anyone could play his role. His pressure acts are just chasing behind rebounding defenders. I wonder what percentage of those tackles too ended up with an effective handball from the opposition because there isn't enough strength to get them down, I can think of a fair few.

Zac Langdon and Darcy Macpherson are apt comparisons - both have been club leaders or close to it in pressure acts - but it's not enough. Hence why they aren't in best 22s getting weekly games (Langdon has now been dropped after being the sub).

If we are going to get a forward whose only requirement is to "try hard" and to "pressure" the opposition rebounding, can we get someone fast and strong? They don't need to be a good kick (can Mahony kick it over 35 meters?). They don't need to be "crafty". They just actually need to impact the rebounding and not just get plaudits for "trying hard" while being young.

Reckon jed let's him have a spell, Jed can pressure forward well and pinch hit in the middle whilst he gets back to 100% match fit. Mahony needs touch, and he can't improve that getting it 7 times a week. My 2c

IMO When he is on the ground he has a Tank, runs all night, provides opportunities gets in some good spots, just lacks a bit of skill at the moment, hopefully the fumbles will disappear over time.

He’s Kayne Turner.

Lol another one.

He looks totally devoid of confidence.

Surely they do him a favour and drop him for his own sake?

I actually think the kid will probably be happy to be dropped, doesn’t look like he wants to be out there.

Yep he needs to play 2s for the good of the team and him

I like Mahony, but he is a natural midfielder who is unable to play the role at AFL level because of his height, stature and no obvious point of difference that would make him an elite small forward. Sometimes with smaller players they have to have at least one elite trait (speed, goal sense) to overcome their height. Unfortunately I don’t think he does. The same can be said for Lazzaro. The same can be said for Turner, Hrovat ect. Lazz and Mahony have both ended up being perplexing picks.

We’d been linked to Chad Warner in the whole lead up to the draft with our picks in the 30’s and then we ended up going Mahony and Perez. I don’t get it.
