When you look at his interview he really seems to be maturing as a person. He is about to turn 22, and should play his 50th AFL match in 2025.

There is a really big injection of young or inexperienced talent back into the team over the next 2 seasons just from the players we already have on the list who have missed loads of footy in 2024.

Clarke, Fawcett, Gibcus, Gray, Lefau, Maurice, Ross, maybe Bauer & Young.

Then some further improvement expected from:

Banks, Blight, Brown, Campbell, Green, McAuliffe, Ralphsmith, Smith, Trezise and hopefully Sonsie.

Not too many potential superstars in there but a load of upside in those 19 inexperienced players already at the club. By 2026 we would expect this group of 18 is basically providing half our first choice team.

To think we are about to add likely 6-8 rd 1 draft picks over the next 2 off seasons, we should have plenty to look forward to.

Maurice is my favourite player though, love watching him play.

There is the possibility that we are about to have a fairly complete young quality list 'just appear' in the next couple of years. I'd love a V shaped rebuild

Just to note here.

In 2016, players who played in our 2017 Premiership team played a combined 261 games for the club. So there were roughly 12 of them in the team on average in 2016.

During 2017, Premiership players who had been on our list in 2016 played 391 games between 18 of them. There were roughly 16 of these guys in the team each time we played on average.

So of the 18 x 2017 flag players on the list in both seasons, we had roughly 4 extra of them in the team for each match in 2017 compared to 2016.

We are not set up to challenge for a flag in 2025, but we are likely to get a similar boost just from players who are on our list in both 2024-2025 seasons I think, ie at least 4-5 extra of them per week should be in the team. It is a big difference.

This is the draft we add the core of talent ,plenty of foot soldiers listed above that can play a part , we need the difference makers now which are inevitably found in r1

Only watched the last 20 mins of the VFL, but he was the difference
A number of our players can’t hit the side of the Jack Dyer Stand , MRj is elite by foot

Hmmmmm so I'm trying to get my head around the MRJ hype.....
-Carlton’s VFL are bottom of the ladder ✔️
-Carlton are decimated with injuries and their VFL team was cobbled together with blokes from the stands who'd been on the turps all night, worked 5 hours on the tools and had a stalactites mixed souva and 3 red bulls for breaky churning in the guts with 12 beers, a few jaeger shots and a couple of tequilas✔️
-MRJ played ok... not spectacular against nobodies! A 4th year full time AFL player played good against nobodies! Not even VFL listed players from the bottom team! So basically F grade opposition. Wow wonder how he'd fare against A grade opposition like Bont, Cripps, Neale, Serong?

Not sold on him either but the way we're haemorrhaging players atm we've gotta sign someone up.

- Carlton VFL one week earlier beat top 4 Geelong at Geelong by 23 points.

- Carlton are actually 3rd bottom and with a percentage of 90 so they have lost a lot of close games.

- 1 week prior to the Geelong2 upset, Carlton2 ran Brisbane2 to 23 points with just 3 less scoring shots. Brisbane2 are 3rd on the Smithy's VFL ladder.

- As usual, you have no idea what you are talking about.

- As usual, I have to correct you.
