Callum Mills

Callum Mills is one of the best young players in the AFL. The QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduate won the 2016 AFL Rising Star award and was selected in the AFL Players’ Association’s 22Under22 team in three of his four eligible years. Mills is a small defender with uncompromising courage who’s also capable of shifting through the midfield. The New South Welshman was elevated to Sydney’s leadership group during the 2018 pre-season at the age of just 21, and he’s now a member of a five-man leadership panel alongside co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Lance Franklin.

Surely he will be on limited game time? It's a big gamble but they would know better than me.
But why? He's been running. Has rehabed his shoulder. Doing skills sessions and match sim. It's no more a gamble them a player playing R1 without a trial under their belt, which happens all the time. If he gets gassed, sub him at 3/4 time, again something that routinely happens these days.

Providing he's ready and at no added risk of injury, I like this move. The captain essentially telling his team the time for stuffing around is over, I'm back!

Agree… not to mention he’s a super fit athlete… once he gets his 2nd wind, he should be right

Mills has only really had one outstanding season.

Happy to be wrong but I dont think an upgrade from Roberts (C grader no disrespect) to Mills (B+ grader also no disrespect) will make the huge impact to the side that most are expecting.

Again happy to be wrong but maybe the benefit is the cool and collected head on the field
