No, you don't recall correctly. You won't find any post of mine that resorts to abuse. And yes, I'm offended. You constantly bemoan a lack of quality discussion and yet, here in a thread where lots of posters are happy to qualify their views and step away from entrenched positions, you are the one dumbing the discussion down to moronic levels. What's worse, you've effectively derailed a thread that showed respect to and recognition of a player you have championed. I have gotten heartily sick of your posting this year but this takes the cake. If anyone is a hypocrite here it is you.
And i have had to put up all year with hysterical, biased bullshit aimed at a good player ......so what goes around, comes around ......deal with it !!

I definitely don't call myself a Mackay basher and definitely don't like potting any current crows players.....happy once you leave the red, blue and yellow though.

But Wayne you have to admit that there have been a few games this year where he has not played at his best. I have no doubt there is a mob mentality to pick on Mackay way too much.....but put that aside....he has not always played a good game. I think the fact that he gets a lot of negative press by the fans.....you would be happy to see a supportive thread.

Yup no one can argue the fact that he continues to be picked every week and by many coaches before him. I think there is something behind that. I don't always agree but personally feel relieved when he plays a great game. There are two extremes in play right now though. Those who are determined to bring him down at all costs without really watching his games and those who will defend him blindly again without really watching his games.

For me this has been his best year in quite a while. In my mind he has more good than bad....but some of his bad really stinks....hence why he has been dropped etc.

I respect the fact that you have defended Mackay from as long as I can remember. You go into bat for our number 14 more than anyone else, however in my opinion you should have come in a thread like this with a "told you so" attitude....not taking aim at everyone attitude.

Anyway I am not even sure why I am commenting on this. I do try to leave the BF politics alone and prefer to focus on Crows related stuff.......so.....

Carn the Crows. Let's smash those coca COLA Swannies out of the finals like we did back on Sept 12th 1998.

Dmac you beautiful bastard! Didn't notice him to miss a kick all night. Well done son.
Missed his first kick, did a usual bomb down the line out of defence which was picked off. I rolled my eyes and got ready for the rinse, repeat we usually get from him.

And then he did something he hasn't done for three years, he lowered his eyes and started picking off targets.

Hopefully the coaching staff reinforce this week with him, lower the eyes and pick off targets.

He doesn't have the leg to release over the top like smith and seed, so he needs to go the other route and hit up the free men short.

Well my opinion on Mackay after last night has not changed one bit. He was good last night, hardly set the game alight however. I would never pick him in our side again as I think we have far better options available. One game does not a career make, esp when you have a gold pass for 2 years to play a reasonable game. Mackay is 100% a shit footballer who had a good night for his obligatory 2 half decent games a season. The fact this thread exists is no more or less embarrassing than the threads about his ineptitude.
Quicker this giy plays permanent sanfl or for someone else the better. Willing to put money on him being as crap as ever next week, as usual.

Harsh but fair.

But credit where its due I think.

Yeah but he is almost getting to much credit imo. We are a 5% minimum better team with him gone.
The fact this thread exists for his second good game of the year is almost embarrasing. Waynesworld is wrong imo about mackay but he has every right i think to question the love in, when we all know he will revert to shit, esp if the next game against sydney is tight and full off contests.

I'm happy with Mackay staying in the team if he performs like last night. He contributed well.

But next week is the real test. Can he back it up? History says he can't

On balance yes but this isn't about the season, it was about last night and standing up in a final.

If history tells us anything then you'd be right.
I know you arent saying this, but its not about being right. I am also confused by how the shit form of Mackay can be forgotten after 1 decent game. No way for mine he isnt dropped as most here would usually agree on, but seem to have forgotten with 1 good game.

This is true, he was very lucky to be playing. Luckily he made the most of it

Don't agree. A good game is rewarded by a second game....at least most of the time...and should/will this time. The real question is why he continued to play when he was having woeful games. There is an obvious strategy that the coaches want to stick with....but sometimes the selection decisions do not compute. I definitely don't understand it....but when he plays like that I don't care about being wrong or right.

Hendo is confused by this. Get what your saying though, still for me hes on the chopping block.

You just wish Skid Row would reform and tour. Get WW off bigfooty for a couple of weeks.

Where is Sebastian Bach when you need him??

Mackay played well, very well. But needs to back it up next week to prove he can be consistent.

Different argument for mine. A lot of the debates are based on opinions. For me I am more curious as to why CEY has been out of the side so long. One of our most consistant SANFL players by all accounts. I am not a Hendo fan myself....but that is my opinion.

Generally speak our best team is Seeds in and Mackay out....but I can't fault his selection this week. Not off last night.

I only watched the replay, but looked like he played well. Seemed much more decisive in what he did with the ball instead of dithering about and getting caught
I am glad for him and I was a critic last year.

You know i totally agree on Cam:)

Yes but standing up in one final does not a career make. I would drop him still for a fit knight or menzel.[/QUOTE]
See..? This is the part I cannot understand. Most of the guys with the same attitude as you towards Mackay, still make the same mistakes. You don't like him! I can understand that. What you guys wont admit is the fact that, even by not playing very good, his games are still believed to be better than what your replacements players are capable of producing NOW. Or was it not a Freudian slip when you state that you would still change him for a FIT Knight or Menzel? Fit, or Playing as well right now, is the main point.
