Watt would have to be a HUGE chance to be dropped anyway.

I doubt he would be dropped if O'Keefe, Goodes and Hall all play as it would leave Hansen as the only tall option against one of them.

Even if O'Keefe doesn't play we will probably keep Watt as insurance, but I would much prefer Urquhart to come back in.

I wonder if any other club's supporters get ahead of themselves regarding young players as much as we do. Seems to me the difference between winning and losing is whether Ben Ross and Gav Urq play tonight.

If your comparing them to Watt and Brown...well..yes.

I think Leigh Brown had more impact from the stands than Gavin Urquhart did on the field last week. I'm not advocating Borwny ahead of Gavin going forward, but seriously, the kid needed a rest. Now 6 days later we expect him to be the match winner in a side he's not even selected to play in.

I think fans have asserted that players such as Ross are more suited to the prevailing conditions than say a Leigh Brown type.

That said, I think you are over rating Leigh Brown's output from the stands - marginally.

I guess its just bit of blind hope. That the youngens will atleast want to do more. Because some of the older statesman haven't shown much of that over the past few weeks.

But i reckon that will change tonight anyway.:thumbsu:

However we are making assumptions that the club is choosing between Brown and Urquhart. Neither is in the side. So who are we leaving out? And the other point is... how many games have we seen Gav and Ben play in wet conditions to know that they are suited to those conditions? Or is it just an assumption that because they are not tall, they will therefore star in the wet?

I want Ross in for Gav.I dont want Leigh anywhere near the list of players playing tonight because he is not up to AFL standard and i think he will be even worse in the wet.

I want Ross in for Watt or even Gav in for Watt.
Gav and Ben would be better than Brown or Watt because they are not tall.I dont know...call me crazy...i thought it was wet tonight and smaller men play better in the wet than bigger men:confused:. You know..lower centre of gravity and all that.

Ummm... neither of them are in the team. You can't bring Ross in for Gav because they are both emergencies.

So you're going to send Ben Ross out to play on Goodes or Hall or O'Keefe?

Did anyone say they expected either to be a match winner?
Does saying you want someone in the team suggest you expect them to be a match winner?
Boomer, Wellsy, Petrie, Hale , Harris and Simpson are the guys I expect to be match winners tonight.

Wet conditions, one of their talls possibly out, is it so outragous and harsh to want us to drop one of our fringe tall backs (who often looks like he is playiing in the wet on a dry day) and don't even consider a guy we are going to de-list (who pretty much always has the same impact whether it is wet or dry).

Incorrect.

They showed footage of the guys training at ANZ stadium last night and Ross was the first guy I saw.

Has to be a big chance to play and I hope he does.

Yep.

Me and Rossy were giving each other high fives this morning whilst Leroy topped up our drinks.

He's in town.

the purple patch we had and the games we played an exciting brand of football coincided with the inclusion of these youngsters,it seems to me that maybe some people on this board enjoy mediocrity because it's safe to keep playing the tried and true, well i got news for you they are not good enough as proven in the last 2 finals series.

Hang on a second. I just read a thread about us not playing underdone players or players that havent had alot of games in the seniors. Edwards, Thommo, Sinclair were all mentioned as being either column A or column b.

Well looking at Ben Ross, he comes under both categories. Only played about 3-4 games and is also coming back from an ankle injury or did these facts escape people.

Facts?, this is bigfooty not a fact for miles.
