Nah, straight in.
We need his tackling pressure. Green simply isn't providing it. Either that or Begley in until Lav is fit.

Did well today! Running well and confidence building nicely.
Won't take as long as I originally thought.

If he has a good game next week, then he'll certainly be in contention

Do not agree that he is moving that well. Not that it worries me but he's lost a lot of agility and does not have that bounce in his movements.

It doesn't worry me because he's still working out how to carry what looks like an extra 5 or 6 kegs. Throw in the long term ankle injury and I expect that caution should and will be exercised.

Was an encouraging performance today but ignore the puff that will be written up. He's still at least three games away.

Do no want him straining to keep up at AFL level.

The main thing now is to get as many miles into the heavier frame as possible and to get him primed for a massive pre-season as an inside midfielder.

Yep there is no way he comes straight in. Would be a huge risk.

goody goody gum drops re his form though.

Really good game today I thought. His kicking for goal was a bit shaky: should have had a few more than the 3 he ended up with IMO.
He needs to play VFL for the rest of the season because I have $ on the VFL side for the flag .... seriously though, another few weeks at least.
Does he need to play X number of games for the VFL to qualify for finals?

Missed over half the season so no (I think)

I'm am probably one of Laverde's biggest fans coz he ma boi and all, but he needs to build in the VFL.

Only just got used to VFL level paced footy. I wouldn't risk him in what is likely a high tempo game at Etihad

We're too conservative as a club. Bring him the **** in. Guaranteed to bury the saints.
There aren't many guarantees in football, and a guy who is almost certainly still not ready to return to senior level coming in and destroying a side at AFL level is most certainly not one of them.

tend to agree.
though i wouldn't say the Saints are a physically tough opponent. They are a quick side though. Wouldn't mind it if he came in and went to Ross to run with him head to head. Back in the deep end.

question would be who he comes in for
i think he will get his chance once the k's are done in the VFL (pretty close now) and someone like Jobe or Myers needs a rest.

The only other problem is that the VFL side played on Sunday and the seniors play on Friday. It wouldn't be wise risking him on a 5 day break

If they had any intention of playing him against St kilda he would not have played the match out. No one was held back. If anyone comes into the side it will be out of the rested players.

Suggestions he should play are absurd. Needs a minimum 4-6 week block of match conditioning under his belt before being considered.

Great signs he's getting busy early, but let's remember he's missed 4 months of footy as well. He'd sink at AFL level if he were to get thrown in deep end this week.

Ideally he keeps dominating & we get him in for last 3-4 games.

Good point.
There is no point rushing him either
Id prefer we give Begley 2 games in the seniors starting with the Saints and then swapping him for Laverde after that. Gives Begley a taste and makes sure Laverde is 100% and is replacing a like for like position
Or, if begley rips it up, have them both in :)

Still stand-by that he is one of the most talented players on our list and could genuinely be anything. All that said, not this week & not the week after, like many - I'd prefer to give Begley a run at it, and once Laverde is match fit then give him his run of games.
