Imagine been told at the start of the year that not only would Laverde be a defender this year, that he would be successful AND hold his own against Elbow...oops, Buddy !

Well done to Jayden.
Amazing too because it’s his first year in that role and not many keep Buddy quiet, let alone with one arm.

The 50 metre penalty paid against him on hbf/wing that led to a Buddy goal was putrid, I'm not even sure Buddy had completed the Mark.

I used to like Buddy but now all he does is beg and whinge to the umps, as soon as he is beat in a 1 on 1 contest he is looking around for the umpire for a free kick..

Laverde has been enormous this year and has probably been our 4th best player behind Parish, Stringer and Merrett.:thumbsu:

I was incensed by that 50. What a load of crap it was.

I wouldn't quite have Laverde that high on my list (I'd still have Tippa, Hind and Ridley ahead of him with Redman and Heppell about equal) but he's been quality this year and its been really exciting to see him make a position his own and actually stay fit for most of a season. Shame about the shoulder injury.

Avoided major damage, 50-50 chance to play this weekend
Key defender Jayden Laverde is a 50-50 chance to play in Sunday’s game against the Western Bulldogs after sustaining a shoulder injury.

The 24-year-old has avoided any major damage and was able to play through the Dons’ match against the Swans, but is carrying soreness and will be listed as a test this week.

“Jayden injured that shoulder during the game,” Murphy said.

“He did really well to function during the game because he was in a lot of discomfort.

“He was cleared of structural damage which is really good but he’s still very sore and he’ll be a test this weekend.”

I like what he is doing playing on the second tall. Unsure if he has the capability to play on a sides third tall (see JUH, Marshall, McDonald.T, Rohan) and do a reasonable week.

The simplicity of a second tall seems to suit him

Sorry don’t understand…do you want him to play on two players? Otherwise why can’t he beat third best if he can beat the second??

Jesus Christ he gave future teammate Ben King a bath.

9 intercepts and 3 contested marks directly opposed to him.

Ben to join EFC to avoid playing against Jayden ‘The Clamp’ Laverde in the future!

Been a fan of Lavs for quite a while and up until now have been disappointed that he never quite made it. Mostly due to injury.

Breakout year, has been so important for us, never expected it to be as a defender.
