Laverde on LTI list
Essendon has placed Jayden Laverde on the long term injury list.

The 20 year old injured his ankle during the second half of the JLT Community Series match against Geelong earlier this month.

He underwent surgery and the Club is hoping he'll return to playing soon after the mid-season bye.

Placing Laverde on the long term injury list allows the Club to promote a rookie who can then be selected in the senior side.

David Myers and Jordan Ridley are also on the long tem injury list with Shaun McKernan the only promoted rookie at this stage.

Laverde has played 18 games for the Bombers across his first two seasons in the AFL.

Wonder if/who they might be thinking about promoting.
McKenna I would have thought

Not likely, he's already on the main list!

McKenna got his stripes at the end of last year. Officially our (non-upgraded) rookies are McNiece, Long and Draper (and Eades, but he's no longer at the club despite still being on the list).

edit: And Laverde joins Myers and Ridley on the LTI list too, with McKernan replacing Ridley (who is due to return from injury in about round 11 or something). Myers should be back in a couple of weeks, so if they needed a short-term upgrade they could use one for him, but I'm not really sure we need to upgrade anyone at this stage.

Draper/McNiece/Eades/Long/McKernan

If they wanted to just have Long up and about and ready for potential selection they could do that but you can mount an argument for keeping it as a spare just in McKernan gets injured or suspended for a week or two and they need to promote Draper

Agree. Hold off until one of them is knocking down the door. No point upgrading if they aren't going to be selected.

His combination of height, pace and aggression would be a good complement to our existing future midfield brigade as an inside mid. The questions are, can he get enough of the ball, will his body cope with the physical punishment and moe importantly, will the Coaches give him a chance to do so? That being said, I would be more than happy if he could just stay on the park regardless of where he plays.

I'm assuming Laverde will be playing VFL till round 15 or will he be able to come back straight in?
I think round 15 is when he's eligible to play!

From there I would assume he comes back through the VFL like any other player would which means he could quite conceivably be there for anywhere between 1 week and 3 or 4.

I'd give him at least 3 or 4. Not 100% on the rules but I think the fact he's missed so many games means he'll be eligible for the VFL finals too.
