I’ve done the exact same thing. Feel kind of bad about it lol. Thought for a while that he had the biggest bust potential out of everyone at the top end of the draft and now I fully believe he might be the best out of the entire crop. This is entirely down to his leadership and maturity. He’s going to be an absolute superstar.

I take some relief in the fact he’s a good kick. At his height he could play down back and give us some rebound if he can’t find it in the midfield.

Wanted Josh at Pick 1 since May.

Has everything you need on and off the field to be a champion

A classy Cripps is very rare, infact, he may be one of one

Has a great haircut too will be tearing it up at garden state

I looked at the online training vision and I saw a few times this balanced runner with the ball going through advancing with a 16 on his back.

Is that Smillie, because if it is he looks smooth and mobile.

I do not like the Cripps/Fyfe comparisons. I think this guy could be a totally different better player. I do not want Richmond to sink to the levels at CFC and Freo.

Question can Smillie kick 100 goals from CHB at Richmond in a year??? How would he do that?? Well he would not stay at home at CHB because he is not kicking 90 metre plus goals from what I can see!!!

He’s no Noah Balta.

I did not know Balta could kick 100 goals from CHB?? any vision???

Because Smillie is different to Balta he would have to kick 100 goals from CHB being Smillie not Balta unlike a 'Trading Places' movie although Balta might be able to fill in at CHB along with others as Smillie transfers the ball up the ground.

Balta might be able to kick 100 goals as a forward but I cannot see Balta kicking 100 goals as a CHB in a year because Balta does not have the balance and composure will ball in hand moving forward Smillie appears to potentially possess in the run as opposed to set shots. Balta is more your athletic jumper aka pinch hit ruck support as well

The other thing is if Gibcus was on the half forward line it would not be hard for him to drift back and help out on the half back line if need be

I do not think Cripps could kick 100 goals from CHB because with ball in hand moving he does not seem as balanced as Smillie so it would be difficult for him to kick such goals on the run I feel and we know Fyfe was not the best kick for goal

from the online vision the unicorn aspect seems possible as Smillie has the KPP support potential and yet seems adapt offloading the handball and or kick when necessary to advance. David Dench was 191 cm and although Smillie is taller he moves as if he lacks the barriers of taller players, especially if assisting in the KPP area.

Of course if Smillie was to play a CHB role it would not be conventional. rather some kind of quasi CHB/centre role where RFC has ample guys like Balta/Brown/Trainor/Gibcus and others that could go through CHB and support depending on opposition matchups and our own setup and approach at a point in time, allowing for Smillie to be released further up the ground in transition as well as any slingshot movement

Is Smillie like a David Dench but more up the ground being released by greater defensive support given RFC team mix?

Said a while ago he looks a natural born midfielder , notice he’s always on the move , it’s a natural instinct good mids have especially ones that aren’t explosive quick but coz they’re always moving they got momentum , cotch , cripps, pendles they all have it .
When graham came in he had to learn it , had moderate success , lambo was a good student

Josh doesnt stop , can’t wait to see him in action
