The Cripps comparison is correct, he bear little resemblance because Smillee is a fantastic kick and has great agility. When he starts crashing packs as a 95kg midfielder in a year or two, he will then start to look a bit more like Cripps.

Recruiters were overthinking it dropping him from a potential number 1 just because his numbers dropped a bit in the champs.
The question is going to be how good will Lalor be moreso than Smilie. It was an upside pick with not a ton of junior runs on the board. He has amazing traits but after watching even more of Sid Draper, Jagga Smith, FOS...these kids are also freaks and this draft was stacked.
I think I jumped the gun on the Jagga Smith hate train too quick with everyone else. My money is on him for the rising star. Smilie or Draper runner up.

I don't think you can seperate any of them without a crystal ball. They all look guns, Lalor might have a slight up side in match winning ability, but the top 7 all look pretty even. I wanted Draper first, then I went to FOS, happy with Lalor, Smith at 6 would have been great, but maybe Smillee the next Cripps but with skill. Langford looks a star.
Too late now, it's done and dusted.

Cripps wishes he was Smille
Smillie will be the best of the lot with Lalor a close second for impacting games. Jagga will get a ton of the pill with less hurt factor and FOS will get about 20 per game but not be anything special. Draper will be a good 200 gamer.
Smillie will be crushing blokes in about 3-5 years time and he will surpass all of them.

Yep. Draper has game changing agility and line breaking ability. Something we don't have.
I guess we will see how it all plays out.

The backpacks they were wearing were from underage squads or teams. Smillie wore all of 24, 26 & 29 in teams he played for last year.

Wouldn't say that but if we're talking ideal outcomes I would way rather Smilie ends up more a Bontempelli type player than Cripps.
Does all the inside stuff but way more damaging on the outside, gains meterage with his run and kicks goals. Smilie has the capability to do this.
The way he's carried himself in the first week is so impressive.
Not gonna get ahead of myself and label him a 'superstar' just yet but I don't think it's unrealistic to expect him to end the war in the middle east & solve the global energy crisis (as a floor).
