The Swans like a settled back 6, they're building one now which will last years with very few changes
McCartin x 2, Blakey,. Lloyd and Harry have 2-3 years left at least. throw in Campbell. Its a hard line to break into.

I reckon there'll be a list turn over of 6-8 this year with retirements and delistings. I put Gould in the box that if another team wants to trade him and offers the Swans something, he'll go. Otherwise I reckon he'll get another contract.
I cant judge where hes at????? my heart wants him to stay and watch him smash oppo forwards and set up attacks with 50m bullets, my head doesn't know if he can.. An enigma of sorts

On exposed form he can smash and bullet but not lockdown. Running out of time.

Will played his best game for the club yesterday. Was a rock in defence, especially after we lost Fox and COR to injury. Just has to reproduce this week in week out and he will get his shot in the AFL.

I didn't think he was that great. His second half was a lot better than his first. He kicked a brilliant goal, had a couple of strong contested marks and made one good tackle (all in the second half from recollection). Other than that I wasn't so impressed. Didn't make much use of his kicking power (might be under orders not to just kick the ball away), and didn't impose himself that much physically. Still, wasn't enough to have me salivating for him to play seniors. That said, I really do want him to make it. He has a lot of great attributes.

Had 2 or 3 good long kicking distributions from defence in the first half, which would have made him look better if his teammates hadn't fumbled marks and turned it over. I'm not advocating for a debut yet though.

Any chance of a debut this week v Lions?
It's down to him, Reid and Melican. I'd love to see what he could do at AFL level but suspect Reid is the safer option given his height (against a tall forward line) and ability to give a chop out in the ruck, given Darcy Fort will be the lion's 2nd ruck.

Reid has never played in defence but he will more likely come in for McDonald as a forward.

Melican might get the nod but Gould could be a smoky.

Agree about Reid to replace McDonald. Sure thing.
Another option that will light up this board is JPK replacing Paddy (numerically, not positionally). Rampe will play as the second Key in any case.

I think Brisbane is a tough opponent to debut against. They have got Daniher, McStay and a resting ruck as talls. But also a few dangerous mids that push forward like Bailey, Mcluggage, McCarthy and Rayner.

I would be tempted to bring in CoR as a quicker medium defender. And also have Reid replace McDonald, but be someone who can play in defence if we struggle with their talls.

But probably Gould would be happy to debut anyway because you never know when you get an opportunity.

COR has not played in weeks.

I don't think an average game by Gould would cost us the game. He's a big boy and has played as a defender from the get go. Can't be that bad. I want to see us roll the dice. Bringing in COR would not make us any better at defending v their talls.
No point going with a Melican, we know what we have there. Who knows, Will may well be worth his weight in Gould.

Sounds like Gould is not ready. (btw I'm hopeful but on his last showing I think he is not there yet).

Horse said Heath Grundy took 5 years in reference to why Gould has not debuted. "Some players take longer".

Sounds positive on his development but not yet.(reading between the lines).

The guy who was drafted in 2004 and debuted in 2006?
