Not sure we have good news... but the less bad news...

Stanley got thru ok and appears to not be injured. Grundy is not NICNAT, but still the 2nd best ruck in the game. If Stanley can push around the ground and kick a goal or two and provide a target down the line for us that a break even. Again not saying he cant beat Grundy or is as good as, he can level that contest.

Making Moore accountable. This had nothing to do with Tomma, although he needs a good game. Its more about whom ever plays as # 2 KPF.
Be it Sav, Rohan or whatever, they must compete and take marks away from Hawkins. Must must must. If not, Moore and co will will zone off and clean up across half back.

Cox - I think it needs to be team approach. Having Stanley in as #ruck allows BLitz to be Capt everywhere... but id rather he just be defender. And that means one of HT or Hendo are out. Not making the call whom, but CS made the call on Dasher and Moons in the 11 GF.... tome to be ruthless again ( wont happen)

There is more but im still sore from the QF so thats what i got for now.

Rohan has taken 1 single contested mark in his past 7 games. And it was on the half back flank.

rohan is not a marking option to take pressure off hawkins. He just isnt that type of player.

rest of your post i agree with.

You are over rating taylor.

struggles to make our best team of the past 20 years.
youd figure you of all people would be over making overly dramatic and wrong takes ...

guess not

B scarlett, lonergan, wojo
hb enright, harley/taylor, stewart.

i think people have forgotton how good harley was in the early 2000s. Plus he would be the captain if he played. Its either him or taylor for mine for the last spot on the backline.

Stewart will end up with 4 all australians plus. Only injury interupted start of the season stopped him from getting 3 in a row this year. He is the best medium tall defender in the comp. an absolute lock.
Dont get me wrong I like Stewart but has been average this year that collarbone shook him up a bit, but I do expect him to get back to his usual self next year...

Harry Taylors stats for the night: 7 Disposals, 3 Kicks, 4 Handpasses, 1 Mark, 1 Tackle and 14 metres gained from 94% ToG. Taken from here: https://www.afl.com.au/matches/2898#player-stats

Sorry, but Taylor was a liability on Thursday night. Their forwards were zoning off him all night and he struggled to keep up. By no measure at all was he our best player on the field on Thursday.
Yep, port had a game plan against our tall defenders. They played Taylor like a fiddle.

Even then dixon dropped multiple chest marks and other he would have gobbled up with Harry struggling to plan with him. He was lucky he didn't get multiple goals kicked in him.

How many games has Jenkins played this year?
People are also mentioning Clark. How many has he played?

Yes, I know, but Jenkins played well in the scratch match by all accounts, and if you were to pick the less likely to freeze under the pressure of a final I'm thinking Jenkins rather than Sav.

We are now looking down the barrel of straight sets time to be brave
B. Bews Henderson Kolo
Elliot Cox DeGoey
HB. Stewart Blicavs O'Connor
Thomas Mihocek Hoskin Elliot
C Clark Selwood Duncan
Daicos Greenwood Pendlebury
HF. Ablett Hawkins Dalhaus
Maynard Roughead Crisp
F. Rohan Jenkins Menegola
Madgen Moore Quaynar

Foll. Stanley Danger Parfitt
Grundy Treloar Adams
Inter.
Guthrie
Narkle Tuohy Atkins
Stephenson Noble Mayne Cameron
Out: Taylor, Henry both hard decisions to make,Taylor one could backfire and I like Henry but I'd like another tall forward option forward and a bit more pace in the side v Pies,Miers if we can't leave him inside forward 50 crumbing then he goes for Narkle.
IN; Clark and Narkle for some run,Jenkins for support for Hawkins and a couple of big goals as well as helping Stanley.

Did i hear Steven got injured in the scratch match and is out for year (hammy?)

If so then id make 1 change.

Esava for Henry.

Henry looked a dear in headlights and dont see a great matchup for him. Who will be the defensive match ups...

Taylor->Mihochek
Henderson->Cox
Bews-> Elliott
Stewart->DeGoey
O'Connor->Hoskin elliott
Kolo-> Daicos

Close?
Henry was not a deer in the headlights. He was consistently attacking the ball. He kept getting caught because when he did he was on his own because the players around him stopped running.

He is about the last defender I'd drop coming off the port match

B: Bews, Blicavs, O’Connor
HB: Stewart, Henderson, Clark
C: Duncan, Guthrie, Menegola
HF: Parfitt, Ratagolea, Dahlhaus
F: Miers, Hawkins, Rohan

Foll: Stanley, Dangerfield, Selwood

Int: Narkle, Henry, Tuohy, Close

Out - Ablett, Taylor, Kolo, Atkins
Ins - Narkle, Close, Ratagolea, Clark

I like, but I'd be sorely tempted to roll the dice on Jenkins instead of Sav.

Yeh, I’m the same. But what swayed me is that Ratagolea, for all his problems, does provide good defensive pressure for a tall. Better than Jenkins. Jenkins probably less likely to make mistakes. Better kick for goal. But I reckon more likely to have no impact too. Went with Ratagolea, just.

Edit - Ratagolea a better option in the ruck too which allows Blicavs to play as a defender all game.

Harry gone on 2 years too long but would easily be in our best team last 20 years

Just didn't do enough when he got his chance, I only want Close for his defensive speed
So you dont reward players on form? If they have one patch you font like 12 weeks ago then thats it. They can never get back in regardless of how well thry are playing?

Sav is also vastly the better marking option.

In Esava Close
Out Taylor Henry
Blicavs and Tuohy to play down back with Esava helping Stanley in the ruck. Danger should play midfield. He does not work having him play as a forward against quality teams. It works as a backup at times but shouldn’t be plan A.
Would be just as happy to see narkle or Jenkins in. And there’s other defenders who could come out. But a better balanced team would be to have 2 less defenders. And we have to play a 2nd key forward.
Make these changes and I think we will win the Pies played their grand final already and celebrated like they did.

I will fall off my chair if they actually make these changes though.
