To be fair Kolo did ok against degoey even though he kicked 5 goals, 2 were from umps ( not kolo's fault) and 2 junk time goals
5 goals against and he has does a good job? Has he ever kicked more than 5 before, that’s a lot for a HF

Why would we move Guthrie out of the role that earned him an AA blazer this year? He may have been named on the wing in the AA side but he's only played there 17% of his game time

And in terms of centre clearances - he's in our top 5:
Dangerfield: 2.06
Fort: 2
Selwood: 1.92
Stanley: 1.62
Guthrie: 1.22

It's unlikely we'll see Fort playing on the weekend, so surely we therefore aim for a centre bounce combo of Stanley, Dangerfield, Selwood & Guthrie when possible

The only other player seemingly locked in our 22 who averages over 1 centre clearance per game is Parfitt with 1.07.
But let's put Atkins and Dahlhaus in there when we are 7 points down in the last quarter when the game is there to be won:straining:

Honestly can’t believe the “throw the half the team out” arguement.

We certainly didn’t lose bc of a lack of quality against the Power. Stay settled. Keep the same lineup and back in the style that got us here.

if Selwood doesn’t get up then Narkle or Fogerty comes in. Dropping guys like Rohan would be absolute hallmark Geelong in finals.

The old “keep calm” has never been truer. The Pies ain’t that good. Let them go in way too tall in the wet slippery conditions and reap the benefits.
I agree, but we need to make a few changes to adjust to the change in game style and team structure Collingwood has.

Both Dixon and Hawkins were smashed on Thursday night. That's a team effort not the result of one player. We pushed numbers back to make it hard for Dixon and they did the same with Hawkins.

Against Collingwood we dont have an obvious matchup for Taylor. And his lack of pace will be a huge liability.

Not sure how you can say Hawkins was smashed. 13 possessions, 7 marks, 4 tackles and 3 hit outs from full forward is a pretty solid stat line. If he had converted to his normal rate, he would've been seen as one of the best players on the ground.

Stanley, Selwood, Dangerfield and Guthrie should be in as many stoppages as humanly possible, unless Selwood misses through injury.

In that case; Stanley, Dangerfield, Guthrie and Parfitt should be in as many stoppages as humanly possible.

Atkins has been attending more centre bounces over the past 4/5 games, so that wasn't a surprise to see him there

Not sure why Dangerfield wasn't in there though - Selwood was on the bench injured, Guthrie also on the bench (maybe we part of the rotations), we needed someone like Dangerfield to note who wasn't on the field and then inject themselves into that centre bounce

The uncertainty of what our best 22 is is laughable, seriously no one knows, who comes in, who goes out, where should this guy play, that guy play, happens every year at finals.

That’s what you get for ‘managing’ players during the season. For us, that's often code for avoiding making hard decisions. It's been a problem for years.

And of those 7 marks, 2 were contested marks and he took 6 marks inside 50. Another second or 2 in the 3rd quarter and it would have been 7 marks inside 50

Only twice this season has he taken more than 6 marks inside 50 - 7 against North, and 9 against Port in our earlier clash

You can all scoff at me, it's ok but Constable a big in.
Kind of obvious we need a big bodied extractor after the Port game. There is noone else.
I would go Sav in too. Want Stanley doing as much ruck work as possible more than playing forward.
Don't wanna tip us cause I did last week. Better to stay negative.
Woods too quick as it is. Constable would make us even more boring. Just get Paddy in the middle.

If they play Atkins get him to tag a Mid and shut them out the game. He is ok negating that about it!

Does anyone else think we're a rotation or so short in the middle against teams that bat deep in there like the Pies? If we do bring in someone like Narkle we really can afford to shed a tall from defence. We still have the option of Blicavs spending more time down back if needed as well.

Is Zach Tuohy doing enough to retain his spot?

Earlier this season he moved out of defence and into more of a midfield/attacking role, and that seemed to be providing positives earlier in the move; but with his late season knee soreness & the rib issue from the Dogs match, not sure the move is still having the same positive impact

Reports from training last week were that he didn't train with the main group due to his knee issue, if that's causing him problems between games and we aren't necessarily getting his best during games - would we get more from the selection of Narkle as part of the midfield/forward unit instead?
Yes touhy definitely dipped. Maybe he is in line for a structural change and be played down back if one of the talls are discarded.

We might as well do it because you know that if Selwood gets up (which he should), Greenwood will go to him and dare I say take him out of the game, he kept Kelly to 12 touches last night.

Agree. I think those dominating wins against st.kilda and port gave a false sense of what our best structure is. The last 3 weeks we’ve been exposed under pressure and the same old questions of what is our preferred structure have arisen again. After years of finals we still dont know.

And if we do nothing else, play Dangerfield in the MIDFIELD!!!

The problem with that is, in finals we really struggle to get goals on the board, Hawkins just doesn’t stand up, and our smalls go missing, so yes we have Danger in the middle but then he goes forward to kick us goals because we need them, then our midfield weakens because of it, major problem for us.

Yes pies bat deep in the middle. Especially if Philips gets back. We looked 2-3 midfielders short last time against them. Even their small forwards can go through there. Billy Elliot often has bursts on the ball as does de goey. Daicos on the wing has been in good form too.

Miers can stay in but is way more effective closer to goal.... im almost happy for him to be the deepest forward at times.... he can gut run but does his best work in F50.... CLose would be an add to keep it in F 50 too... not sure whom goes out as Atkins has seen MF time and Close is not big enough to be in there yet.

Go Catters
