I've seen it a couple of times in the WBBL this season also - similar situation with a player going the catch but touching the triangle or outside of it before releasing the ball

The whole idea of this type of comp is speed - watching multiple to confirm a player is honest in signalling the higher scoring option just seems a waste of time

It’s been worse in the WBBL they have spent nearly 5 minutes on some of them just make a call if you can’t decide original call stands easy

Great comeback from the Aussies with a magnificent 7 over game win.

Hopefully we get two full T20 games in Sydney and Hobart to decide it.

Sydney will be fine no rain forecast here for a week

as much as i've tried to shit on it the novelty of a 7 over game is interesting. that's about it. it was over halfway through the 2nd innings like regular t20's that turn sour. people in the crowd who somehow knew about the game were rewarded with some sort of cricket.

I'm watching on a slight delay, so excuse the slightly out of context question.

But wtf has been going on with Ellis this season? I didn't even know he was fit, healthy, and part of this squad. I couldn't tell you the last time he bowled a ball for Tassie.

He was injured on the Scotland tour.
I guess hes just coming back to fitness.
Highly underrated white ball bowler.

Been injured/unfit whatever you want to call it

Bartlett is going to be a tough opposition for opposing BBL teams at the GABBA this summer.

3 wickets at a very good economy.

Probably the 2nd best player on the ground tonight. Ellis a close 3rd.

Ellis second for mine, not by a lot but just. Stoinis underrated too took the score from 70 ish to 94

Xavier Bartlett for me, just because he took 3 wickets , and those being all Top 5 batsman.

Ellis got Babar but the game was gone when he came onto bowl. His first over did restrict 4 runs and get a wicket.

So yeah real 50:50 choice who was 2nd best .

Maxwell still has a bit of value in the IPL, its come at the right time with the auction not too far away. He did say recently, that as long as his legs allow him he would try to eek out every opportunity until he can.

Maxwell has had more poor years than good ones in the ipl if he gets a deal it won’t be like his last ones. JFM will get one not sure if he was retained though

7 overs per side ... what an embarrassment. Why must they continue to turn a great game into a freaking joke?

when t/20 goes wrong, it goes wrong bad. 7 overs a side and we're just waiting until the game is awarded to australia.

how long until we do home-run derby type entertainment and bypass the whole cricket game thing?

For the first time, I have watched truncated games before , I must admit that game wasn't that enjoyable to watch. Make no mistake the less overs in a cricket game, the less skill involved for me. It becomes more of a lottery when you take 65% of a game away. It didnt even feel like a T20 game. In a proper T20 game, you still have to balance temperament, aggression, and use tactics over the space of a few deliveries. I mean tonights game, you would have hated to be a bowler. And the thing I hate about it, is some people will use tonights game for stats, in future. eg Stoinis striking at 300% in a fixture. Yep those stats will be added into his T20 career. And people may use this game as a reference point, when in all reality he has his 1 good BBL game every 10 games for the Melbourne Stars.

Cricket Australia job is to please the fans, keep the spectators happy etc

Think a game like that defeats the purpose of T20 cricket. T20 cricket should be that, not a 65% reduced game.
