Might be an unpopular opinion but Warney used to s**t me as a commentator. Knew the game inside out and had great insight clearly but used to love getting stuck into his whipping boys, he'd harp on issues and not leave them alone and have the bullshit backslapping matey banter which drives me up the wall.

I don't really remember Smith as a cricketer tbh, only really known him from commentary

Totally agree with Warney. I loved his personality and his cricket brain he had such potential as a commentator but couldn’t leave certain things alone.

I didn’t really see Smith either he had been replaced by Parore and Tony Blain by the time I was watching but he had one of the fastest test hundreds of all time for a while and was a real dasher at times

When I first started watching cricket New Zealand kept going between Smith and Warren Lees as keeper.

The concern for Perth will be 2026/27.

Next summer is a five Test Indian series.
Then a five Test Ashes in 2025/26.
Both will get big crowds.

But 2026/27 is scheduled to have 1 Test vs Afghanistan in Darwin/Cairns. Then 3 Tests vs New Zealand in December. Then two Tests against Bangladesh....in March. 👀
And I can't see Sydney or Melbourne not hosting a NZ Test. Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane are fighting for the third one.
What's happening in January/February that year?
Jamal easily been the most dangerous bowler. Surprising to see he's already 27, and I can't seem to find a FC record.

Truly uninspiring it has to be said.

Warner getting a few games at the end isn't near as concerning as the fact he has averaged ~30 for 3 years and no other opener has been good enough to rip that spot off him...

Maybe Bancroft will make the most of his third chance in the team but I'm not holding my breath - for Australia's sake, I hope he does because Usman isn't going to be holding up the other end for a whole lot longer and things will get very dicey if we've got to fill both openers spots in 12 to 24 months.
I’m doubtful about Bancroft. Every time I watch him bat he still seems to be plonking his front foot across the crease, yes he’s making heaps of runs at the moment but he doesn’t seem to have fixed the key technical issue that got him in trouble at test level.

Renshaw is the one who I think has the ability to make it. I’d be picking him first against the Windies.

I predict by the end of the day the pitch will no longer be regarded as a road.
Copy and paste of every suspect touring team here each summer. Aus bat and make 450-600. Aussie bowlers suddenly exploit pitch and touring team make 200-250 at 2.5 an over.

Getting a tad tiresome

This bowling performance reminds me of some our attack has put up. In isolation they have all bowled alright but not all at the same time and not when they needed to - and there is nearly 500 on the board.

Those missed chances off Warner and Uzzie early make a huge difference.
What do you mean by “our attack has put up”.

We have had the best/second best attack in the world for the better part of a decade.
