No he is not

He has played a max 5 games as a defender and will get chewed up and spat out by a quality kpf
Kosi as a defender is not Liam Jones toe nail
He is miles ahead of miller and young. By bet will be he’ll hold down FB. He got drafted as a KB started as a KB got moved fwd out of necessity. Liam Jones was a putrid KF Rory Lobb the same both have become handy KB. He has the tools to be a handy stopper. Big athletic, hits packs, not expected to take marks so we won’t be relying on the part of his game which is his weakness

Even last year from what I remember of him (not a huge amount) but the few highlights I do recall are from when he was playing behind the ball

I think he might be a little bit like Balta where he is more suited to be reactive to the ball coming in over someone like Jack or Lynch are more proactive to create a target to someone to kick it to

Kosi is Miles ahead of Miller , Yeah right

In which way is he ahead for the life of me i cannot see it !!!
Went back to look at their stats just to reaffirm both similar ages and similar games
Miller behind players that played in a premiership dynasty and Kosi in a team where they have struggled in his time at the club.

25 year old player thats been in the system 6 years
I think we know what we have and clearly not good enough

Dont waste time giving him games and just concentrate on getting the valuable game time into the kids

IMO Kosi is the ideal player to keep on the list moving forward. When we become a good team he’s the perfect ‘break glass’ player to come from the VFL to play a role either back, forward or ruck. He’ll never be a world beater, but in the 2028 SF when Gibcus is injured and we need an opponent for McKay, there’s no reason he can’t come in and do an important job for a week.

He played some pretty decent footy the last 10-games of 2024 as part of a woeful team and he’s only 24yo.

After this contract just keep him on 1-2 year deals, pay him $200k plus match payments and we’ve got a nice and cheap insurance policy ready to go when needed.

Kosi is up there with one of the worst RFC players to ever pull on the jumper, he's a shit player.
A perfect 'break glass' player? Wow, thank god you have nothing to do with list management

One thing he will be is a live benchmark/signpost for the new guys who want respect and to play.
Couldn’t be arsed thinking about who are the worst players to pull on the jumper but the fact is in terms of the players who make it to the level, Kosi isn’t blessed with alotve talent and if these kids start drinking their own bath water because they’re AFL players now… but can’t keep him outve the team or they get replaced by him.
I think competing against him could be a good way to keep their feet on the ground if nothing else Kosi doesn’t look like someone who gives up easily.

At the moment Kosi is a fill-in while our kids develop. The best way to develop kids is to play them in a competitive team. I don’t see that getting 10 goals kicked on any of our new recruits will help their development. For example apart from Balta who can we play on McKay. Trainer isn’t strong enough yet. Same with Brown. Gibcus at this stage is an interceptor rather than a lockdown defender and will be until they sort out his hamstrings . Blight did a good job last year. Miller and Young aren’t mobile enough. So, what do we do if Balta isn’t available? Are we going to drag one of our young forwards back to get beaten. Too me if Kosi becomes a good defender then he adds to our trade capital in the future

A fair few backhanders going out to Benny Miller by some here. I thought he had a pretty good back end of the season. The way the ball was coming in with minimal pressure, he got to spots to be competitive. I'm not writing him off, nor claiming him as our best back, but he is going to be very bloody handy over the next few years as we get games into much younger players.

Kosi, I couldn't give two knobs of goats $&#@ for. I'm with you THE_GUN - I will expect very little, so that I'm never disappointed. If he thrives, win / win.

He was non-competitive in the back half. I've been a Miller apologist before and even I can't deny he just gave up multiple times and watched as his opponent lead out and marked practically uncontested. Only excuse would be he was carrying a pretty serious injury and played through it. His front half was good.

His front half was good - both games against Hawks were good, had ordinary games against the Aints, his last against GC was ordinary but he had mates. Massive improvement on earlier years. Let's see what 2025 will bring!

You certainly cant play Kosi on Harry and i would say Young & Miller offer more defensively than a failed defender/Foward
which has shown nothing so far as a defender

Miller not mobile enough ?
Are you serious ?

Maybe go check millers speed agility and leap

We had injuries and the team was cooked and no structure combined with the flood of ball coming into the defence
Rance / Scarlett & Francis Bourke would have got smashed

Miller has not had time to settle into any position and finally gets a chance in defence and nobody to back him up with injuries to Grimes , Young and Balta getting thrown foward along with a mis season pick in Blight being called up

Not sure what people expected from Miller with all the sh!t happening around him no wonder the bloke got smashed
Balta , Blight , Brown , Vlastuin & Miller with a combination of Short , Smith , Trezise , Broad rotating through the defence and an injury blessed season will allow Ben Miller to at least have a chance to play on his opponent with a decent chance

Sure he will have days getting a hiding but what do we expect from a defender playing in a wooden spoon side

I’m a fan of Miller. Against guys like Charlie Dickson or Charlie Curnow who are more straight line players Miller is fine. Against Treacy from Freo last season he got caught out of position multiple times. McKay I suspect would simply out run him. This is not a criticism of Miller, I think he did a good job last season in a defence under siege. it’s just that IMO he’s a big guy best suited to playing against the power forwards not the Treacy and McKay types.

Yze had Miller behind Gibcus & Young KPD. Balta KPF. If Balta is KPD and Blight killing it, Miller won't play much AFL. Young, Gibcus all in line to play when fit.

Nor will Kosi.
I would hope that Yze’s opinions are not that black and white. Miller would be the better KPD against the King brothers or Charlie Curnow IMO but behind the others against forwards like McKay . Hopefully Yze picks the right guy to match the opposition forward structure.

Scarlett definitely would have. Won under 4 contests per game. Dead set receiver. Bourke & Rance on a totally different level to Scarlett, who is a cheap 6x AA induced myth.

Only played KPD in his first couple of years at the Hawks, and even then was thrown forward at times. First couple of years were also heavily interrupted by injuries. The Hawks then moved him forward out of necessity at the beginning of his third year, and kept him there.

He's definitely a failed forward, so we may as well give him a chance to make it as a defender. Best case we get an Astbury-type who can lock down on the big blokes to free up others.
He’ll never get to the level of Astbury. The guy shuts his eyes when contesting a mark. Astbury was a rock, this guy is a marshmallow.

We paid **** all for him and cash isn't an issue. Anything he does will be a bonus. Who cares.
Correct, he was delisted by the Hawks and was even dropped from the Box Hill that season.
