He looks *ing good when coming at the ball.
Take the 1st quarter out of the equation as we were getting caned and the ball was nowhere near our forward 50, he was only doing this for 1 quarter out of three.

He might be the best forward in the league if he fearlessly led to the ball, was stronger in the contest and actually halved 50-50 contests, but he is so far off that with his timid style.

obviously we need to find him a reliable, long term second tall to help him out. I really feel like 2 years ago we missed an opportunity to bring in a big bodied, strong marking stop gap forward in the mould of someone like Casboult or O. McDonald to help him out.

Not specifically them but I think the club dropped the ball in the years where Larkey became our focal point to take some heat off him. He’s done exceptionally well to be as prolific as he is, especially when he is very lead/mark orientated rather than strong contested mark.

I know he had a good game goals wise but I can't help but think about the drop mark in the 1st quarter. The pass Larkey received from Sheezel was sublime and when you drop marks that are relatively easy for a forward it can demoralise the morale of the team.

He has a habit of doing this in games.

And he knows it. He drops his head and gets angry at himself. It’s really weird like a balloon deflating or something.

He would obviously know being really our only avenue to goal that if he makes these mistakes they are compounded doubly for him, the team and the fans.

The weird thing is that this year, despite kicking big bags, I have never thought that he is in form to truly rip a game apart. Which I suppose is a good thing. He has a real ways to go before he is at full confidence.

Not just that one, his snap which hit the post and the overrunning of the ball which would've taken him into an open goal. Could've finished with at least 8 goals.

Club needs to fine him every time he does an I'll disciplined act. Ford had the ball and he gave a free behind play dumb! Also why did he not go back and take the shot instead of passing to sheezel in the last quarter or was the mark touched?

Agreed, if other key forwards had his opportunities, they would be executing better. Larkey seems to drop easy marks, get outbodied and is super slow moving the ball on. As frustrating as he is, he is our best forward though.

Equal third in the Coleman in a team sitting 17th. WC can same the same with Oscar Allen.

He's getting goals so his results are outweighing his issues. And I can live with that.

But gee he is an incredibly flawed footballer.

Really feel like this is one of those brash opinions that people plant a flag on and pray they’re vindicated. As the slow passing of time doesn’t prove you correct, will you jump back on the Larkey bus when he’s got a fit, experienced midfield to lead to?

The guy had 3 on him at stages. That’s what the opposition think of him at the moment. He’s finally getting some foil with CCJ and clearly showing why he’s one of the better young forwards in the game.
