Reports are Suns were paying half of his contract ($500K) for at least his first season with you(?).

Wouldn't say Wright was surplus per se. Dew just rated Day more at the time as he was "more physical", despite the fact that in his (Day's) miserable career he had/ still hasn't kicked 20+ goals in a season.

A second tall-forward was still a strong need and a requirement hence going after Chol and Casaboult, and pulling Lukosius from defence into the forward line (move was going to be made irrespective of King going down).
I don't think it's that much. Half the appeal of us is that we've been able to absorb most of it

King was also drafted as a defender not a forward, as a likely May replacement.
My memory of it was Suns paying approx $200k for the first two seasons (so this season being the last) of his contract with us.

Soft as butter. Every second week he simply does not turn up or compete. Soft at the contest, lazy, slow and uncompetitive. For a big man at 203cm and 103kg he gets moved off the ball like a lightweight by players far smaller than him. Needs to harden up and crack in at every contest.

To be fair, conditions didn't suit and he had 2-3 defenders most times. Yeah there were times he should have done better but the players around him did nothing.

His hands weren't on yesterday and he dropped marks he normally would've taken. He's a confidence player and looked low on it. Had an off week but clearly tried, was diving after loose balls multiple times during the match. Wouldn't call that soft, lazy or uncompetitive.

He had multiple defenders on him most of the time. A fit Jones and Stringer in as opposed to Waterman and Francis would've made the richmond defenders accountable and likely would've let him mark and kick a few, or had jones/stringer do the same.

Go back and watch the replay. Countless times he could've got to a contest to impact it and didn't. I don't care if he doesn't take every mark just compete! Don't let defenders take easy/uncontested marks without making them earn it.

Was unlucky not to get a couple of arm chop frees early, but seemed to lose his confidence and dropped a host of sitters over the rest of the match.

He is all duck or no dinner at the moment, really needs to find a way to be consistently involved when he isnt getting good looks forward, especially by holding his marks around the ground.

Yeah fair call. Now you mention it I did notice him jogging in late to marking contests some times. I was watching on tv though, so don't know if that was a lack of effort, or that he got a block earlier in the play and knew he wasn't going to make it to the contest.

Particularly in the 4th quarter there was a change in aggression though, diving on loose balls and putting in second and third efforts. Assume he got a rev from someone during the break. He strikes me as a player that if he's on, doesn't need anything, but if he's off, goes into his shell and needs someone to drag him out of there

Bit stiff to not recognise his little efforts like when he was bringing the ball to ground for some crumbing work but yeah his hands have been made of butter lately. And some may say it was a little dewy but it wasn't raining and other forwards like Lynch and Jack were able to get their hands on it so no excuse. Needs to work on that.

Seems he is either on or off with his marking.

Feels like he’s been the loan man up forward for most of the year, always getting double teamed. Could have had great year with Stringer and Jones in support.

Not sure if it was obvious on TV, but Grimes deployed some 'defensive craft' pretty effectively on Wright - lots of off-ball holding / chopping that went uncalled. Double teamed effectively as well.

The smalls just gave the targets very little to work with and they weren't able to get loose.
