inject Chapman ... & take Buddy's 7 goals away ...
Also the last time Hurley played on Lake Hurley was BOG.
The 84 point win where Riemers should have kicked 7? Lake was the little boy with his finger in the dyke for the Dogs. Been a long time since he has picked up another BOG.

Michael Walters is a better goal kicker then Breust and probably a better marking player, but Breust is the better tackler and has better evasive skills. There are some aspects of Walters game that's better then Breust and there are certain aspects of Breust game that's better then Walters. At this stage it's a 50/50 split. If I was a recruiting manager at an AFL club I would be very happy with either player.

Agree that Breust is the better tackler, but I can't agree that he has better evasive skills. Both players have an elite ability to stay on their feet and remain balanced. I think Walters is at least equal to Breust in his evasive ability. Even though neither player has jet boots, they are incredibly hard to lay a hand on... part of this is agility and smarts, the other part is their balance and ability to keep their feet.

Breust used to be a very reliable goal kicker if memory serves, particularly from set shots. Dunno what happened this year. Breust is a very, very good crumber... just seems to always be in the right spot. Walters is very good also, but reckon Breust would shade him there from what I've seen. How much of that is the quality of key forward he's crumbing off... I dunno... but from what I've seen Breust is better at picking up crumbs, Walters is a better overhead mark (despite being a short a*se).

The other thing you'll probably notice in the coming years is how good a field kick Walters is. He's a very good shot for goal, but he's an even better field kick. Breust is a very, very smart player and a good field kick (if memory serves), but Walters has an edge there. A key advantage with Breust is that he has the tank and runs on the board to spend more time in the midfield, or as a high half forward.

Love Breust though, and as you say... each have skills that they edge the other, and any team would be happy to have either.

1. Nic Naitanui
2. Daniel Hannebery
3. Tom Rockliff
4. Dayne Beams
5. Rory Sloane
6. Steele Sidebottom
7. David Zaharakis
8. Hamish Hartlett
9. Luke Shuey
10. Steven Motlop

Unlucky: Jack Ziebell, Daniel Rich, Phil Davis, Michael Hurley, Jack Redden, Luke Breust and Stephen Hill

The Herald Sun reranked this draft's top 10

1. Dayne Beams (29)
2. Dan Hannebery (pick 30)
3. Nic Naitanui (2)
4. Rory Sloane (44)
5. Jack Ziebell (9)
6. Steele Sidebottom (11)
7. Steven Motlop (39)
8. David Zaharakis (23)
9. Luke Shuey (18)
10. Daniel Rich (7)

I'd take Naitainui and Sloane over Hannebery, and Shuey and Rich over Zaharakis, but it's pretty spot on.

I presume Rockliff wasn't ranked because he went in the PSD?

Yeah, it's only the ND. No rookie or PSD.

You'd assume so. They didn't include Hanley which I'm guessing is because he wasn't selected in the ND.

I like Hanley, but it's a top 10 and it's probably because he's not quite there yet.

For what it's worth, Hanley wasn't in this draft group. I was referring to the 2007 one they did. You wouldn't have Hanley ahead of someone like McEvoy or possibly Mayne?

Pretty lineball for me. McEvoy obviously has form going back 2 or 3 years and Mayne has been a very good marking forward for about 5 years now. All pretty level at this stage.

Sidebottom is an overrated player. Very outside, slow and poorly skilled but very smart and can play a role in a good team. I feel like he will become a bit of a whipping boy if Collingwood fall down the ladder.

I like Sloane a lot. I think most people do. Would have him in the top 5 for sure.

I wouldn't say Sidebottom is slow or poorly skilled, he is one of the more skilled players on our list. His best attributes are his creativity and endurance, his worst is his lack of consistency. He doesn't have the body to be a big inside player, but thats not where we want him to play anyway, ideally he is taking possession on the wing and delivering inside 50. On his day he can be a game winner but unfortunately you never know when his day is going to be.

Yep... Was 2 votes away from a Norm Smith medal, and virtually nobody rates him as anything special, but is overrated...

Nice video about Sloane and his draft day. Interesting he was overlooked in the 07 draft as well as been taken at pick 44 in the 08 draft. Just goes to show that the cream rises to the top.
Also said him and his family are tragic St Kilda supporters and he was really upset that the Saints didn't even want to talk to him. Sliding doors as they say.

Really disagree with this about Sidebottom. Ever since he came into the AFL, he has just always had the ability to make the right decision under pressure. See his goal in the 2010 Grand Final in the rain, clean pickup in the wet, spun through a pack and nailed it from outside 50. Will always be a very very high quality footballer.

Hart, Pickett, Embley, Champman etc... have all won Norm Smiths, doesn't make them any better than Voss etc who never won one.

Straw man argument. Just because some great players have never won the Norm Smith (or Brownlow), that doesn't mean that players who have (or have come close) aren't at least pretty good.

The shittest top 10 I have ever seen. 4-8 are the most over rated blokes you will find. Ziebull @ 5? laughable... same as half the list. Beams would be my number 1 probably, but to exclude Redden and Rocky and instead put in Motlop, Ziebull, Sidebottom, Zaha... FFS

shit list is shit.
On what planet does anyone rate Redden ahead of Sidebottom
