Geelong v Hawthorn. The rivalry re-ignites.

I'm just looking forward to getting Egan and Tomahawk into the team. Lets see anyone monster our backline then! And hopefully another overrated power-forward to with Mooney might help a bit too....;). Why must I continually over-rate Freo??

Same bottom four as this year because i can't see any of them improving more than the others such as: Carlton,Richmond and Essendon.
I think Carlton will make the top four because every year (bar 2005) a team from the bottom eight goes into the top four the next year.

1997: Melbourne - 16th 1998 - 4th
1998: Brisbane - 16th 1999 - 3rd
1999: Melbourne - 14th 2000 - 3rd
2000: Port Adelaide - 14th 2001 - 3rd
2001: Collingwood - 9th 2002 - 4th
2002: Sydney - 11th 2003 - 4th
2003: Geelong - 12th 2004 - 4th
2004: Adelaide - 12th 2005 - 3rd
2005: Nobody
2006: Kangaroos - 14th 2007 - 4th
2007: Bulldogs - 13th 2008 - 3rd
2008: Carlton - 11th 2009 - 4th?

Re: 2009 AFL Ladder Prediction

1. Geelong - too good! great midfield, awesome defence, and talented youngsters coming through
2. Hawthorn - will come close, maybe on even points, with great potential for boyle, williams to make the attack even more potent, and of course the class midfield and talented youngsters stokes/rioli developing
3. Collingwood - had an excellent season considering the off field turmoil and injury. a settled collingwood with great youngsters still developing will rise if didak and shaw re-settle and injuries treat them better.
4. Saint Kilda - although fourth is as good a guess as last for the saints, top class players, a few good draft picks and the building relationship of lyon with his players will mean that they hold their position. riewoldt is their star, with gram fisher goddard all playing important attacking roles accross the backline
5. Western Bulldogs - faded towards second half of season. i feel they do still lack a big forward who can regularly kick a big for them, and also backline is a bit suspect at times. top class midfield of cooney (who i still young and thus will only improve), cross etc will keep them there abouts.
6. Carlton - will continue to rise. if they sign warnock, he will give evem better service to the midfield. fev will kick 100 goals with judd/murphy/gibbs hitting him on the chest regularly. they will be a high scoring team, yet their defence is still suspect. expect their season to in the second week of the finals
7. Richmond - showed improvement. they can build a team around deledio, tambling, and the inspiring richo. with cotchin, morton and others improving, they may just sneak into the top 8.
8. Kangaroos - showed at the end of season by losing to port that their ability to play consistently. struggle to beat the middle of the ladder teams around them. still dont have any big household names other than harvey. will fall a few places, but still make 8.
9. Essendon - played ok at times throughout the season with a young list and an enthusiastic coach will contine to improve. i think that the older players will be shown the door if they dont play well, and their is potential for a new leadership group. injuries hurt them more than ever in 2008, and better luck will see lucas and alwyn davey provide some smarks.
10. Brisbane - will continue to rely heavily on black, brown, bradshaw who will manage to keep them from the bottom four. with a new coach however, and an ageing list, they have potential to finish much lower.
11. Fremantle - will improve with sandilands, palmer, ibbotson, pavlich and good draft picks (hopefully rich) from this year keep them from the bottom 4. they were ok at times in 2008, and were better than their ladder position, winning numerous games by less than 10.
12. Adelaide - will struggle with ageing list which they heavily rely on. will continue to struggle to kick a big score, however their dogged defence will not only cause some unattractive football, but also maybe a few wins that keep them from their inevitable position in the bottom four for one more year.
13. Port Adelaide - will hold maintain in the bottom for, with only the ageing cornes and burgoyne brothers keeping them from the spoon. have very few tallented youngsters, and a questionable forward line who will trouble to kick scores - something which doesnt go well with suspect backline
14. Sydney - will fall flat unless they get a few key signings. having traded draft picks over the last 5 years for discarded players from other clubs like playfair, everitt, richards... their youth is not crash hot. an ageing list means that hall/oloughlan will again be relied on to kick goals - something i cant see them doing too well. how long can their midfield rely on kirk? who else is there besides him? with leo barry and craig bolton, their backline falls in the hands of kennelly who is always under an injury cloud and LRT - who is terrible.
15. West Coast - may be competitive at times with embly, cox and lynch, but will want to make the most of their lull by finishing low before the drafts are influenced by the emerging gold coast/west sydney teams.
16. Melbourne - similarly to west coast, they will want to make the most of the last conventional draft for some time. young team will continue to develop, with simon buckley, morton all showing promise in list that with jack watts or naitanui could make a great team in the future
