Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

People who question Davis, he was third highest forward for average SC points per game.

(111 per game)

Porp 87 and LeCras 84. Its not always how many goal you kick.

weird, i thought it was a forwards job to kick goals, not get SC points

HAHAHAHA yeah but its about how many SC(which any idiot knows is based largely on possessions) points a player gets. ha suck is up princess, he got in but lecras was robbed.

Typical AA panel giving it to players who have played numerous good years in a row, with the exception of maxwell.

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

People are criticising Swan being picked on the forward flank because it isnt his position. I dont think anyone would suggest he should be in the team, just not in the forward line.

Why then is no one questioning why J Brown is in the forward pocket. Dont get me wrong, he has had a great year and is a good player, but if he isnt good enough for CHF, or FF why isnt he on the bench?

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

Judd getting the Vice-Captaincy ahead of Brown is just utterly bewildering. Brown was overwhelming choice as best captain by the AFLPA... but the selectors know better than the players right. :thumbsu:

The icing on the cake of what was one massive Victorian circle jerk.

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

Questionable inclusions in my view:

Bolton -I know he's a great defender but has he really done that much this year? Undecided. He hasn't stood out although no CHB really does in my mind. So questionable but probably deserves it.
Maxwell - Goddard - although on the bench I know - completely and utterly deserves that spot.
Davis - been good but Porps deserves that spot IMO. I can't decide between him and Le Cras for the bench.

So my team would be
B: Enright, Scarlett, Lake
HB: Goodwin, C. Bolton, Goddard
C: Montagna, Hayes, J. Selwood
HF: Chapman, Riewoldt, Swan
F: Porplyzia, Fevola, Brown
Foll: Sandilands, Judd, Ablett
I/C: Boyd, Dal Santo, Davis/Le Cras, Goodes

Oh and saints backline was absolutely robbed. None of them on the field. In my opinion Goddard was one of the players you just had to put in, like Ablett, Judd or Riewoldt.

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

If Joel Selwood keeps going he might end up being the most awarded player in the History of the game.

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

clearly Judd used the pressure point on all selectors (except Walls he wanted him as a special super captain) but clearly he has not mastered it as he only got vice.

Brown as vice any day I know who I would want to lead me out of brown and judd and it is isnt judd.

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

For those that doubted the 2 year rule I would love to see them post again now and explaining the omissions of Gilbert and Clark and to lesser degree LeCras. People that doubt it now after all these years and again this year are living in denial.

My main issue is with half backline, no problem with Maxwell in side but should have been at CHB instead of Bolton, having Maxwell and Goodwin on ground and Goddard on bench is laughable.
