Ok, enough of the traditional AA's.... I know they don't ever play an opponent, BUT, man, I get frustrated when I see backlines/forward lines full of key position players, mids full of recceivers or all offensive types, etc. Good Utilities, whilst a dream for a coach, are rarely recognised in AA. With that in mind, I pick my AA based on form, proven record in big games, and a FIT for a position. Sure, some guns miss out, but then, others not normally considered will, as "balance" in an AA team is never seen as an issue!! Excitement was another consideration (sorry Presti...:>))

B: morris scarlett drummond
gilbert bock fisher

Mid: cox ablett murphy
j.selwood judd montagna

Fwd:higgins riewoldt s.johnson
davis brown franklin

INT:sandilands sewell enright davey

Em: goodes boyd dempsey akermanis

B: Josh Drummond - Matthew Scarlett - Simon Prestigiacomo
HB: Brendan Goddard - Sam Fisher - Corey Enright
C: Leigh Montagna - Lenny Hayes - Dane Swan
HF: Steve Johnson - Nick Riewoldt - Shaun Higgins
F: Cyril Rioli - Brendan Fevola - Leon Davis
R: Aron Sandilands - Gary Ablett - Chris Judd
I: Scott Pendlebury - Darren Jolly - Brad Sewell - Matthew Boyd

Very confident on this team apart from Shaun Higgins. It was between him and Chapman and a just went Higgins because I'm sick of Geelong.

Rightio i might have a crack:

B: Gilbert, Scarlett, Drummond

HB: Davey, Tarrant, Goddard

Mid: Dal Santo, Judd, Montagna

HF: S.Johnson, Riewoldt, Chapman

F: Franklin, J.Brown, L.Davis

R: Cox, Ablett (c), Hayes

Int: M.Murphy, J.Selwood, Goodes, Pendlebury

Captain should go to the best player for the year i think, so Ablett takes it.

A picture says a thousand words. When the other AA candidates get double teamed (by a fair duo themselves) for a 1/2 to reduce their influence then they can lay claim to be the starting AA ruckman.

That is an amazing picture 2 of the better modern ruckman being made to double team Sandilands. God I would like to see this man with a great midfield, I fear we are never going to be able to see how good he could be because of it.

I'll have a crack:

B: Simon Prestigiacomo, Matthew Scarlett, Josh Drummond
HB: Corey Enright, Sam Fisher, Brendan Goddard
C: Scott Pendlebury, Joel Selwood, Leigh Montagna
HF: Paul Chapman, Nick Riewoldt, Leon Davis
F: Brendan Fevola, Jonathan Brown, Steve Johnson
R: Dean Cox, Chris Judd, Gary Ablett
Int: Brad Sewell, Aaron Sandilands, Craig Bolton, Matthew Boyd

Thoughts? Lots of great midfielders to choose from, not so much forwards though. Riewoldt, Davis and Johnson pick themselves there but the rest are tough.

Well did anybody watch him? Played one of his worst matches of the year and was still nearly BOG.

He's AA.
Didn't see the match, was on a plane, but he is still just behind 6 or 7. He's fringe in my opinion, along with Boyd and Pendlebury. Dal, Montagna, Ablett, Hayes, Judd are defintely ahead of him. Selwood and Sewell just. I don't rate Watson and Swan as highly as others. Not penetrating enough.

He is the best player in the league at releasing others into space. A true in and under gun.

This is my perfect attacking TEAM right now based on my own squad. Not worried if they've had a quiet week or two recently and i;d prefer to pick the strongest possible bench that balances it out with utilities and mids.

.C: Dal Santo...Judd......Montagna
HF: Chapman..Riewoldt....Davey

Cant take anyone seriously that doesnt name Bock at CHB.

Can understand people arguing over Watson, Thompson, Sewell, Pendlebury etc. But Bock is just such an obvious selction. An AA team with Prestigiacomo in it and no Nathan Bock is a Joke.

Yeh, I don't understand it either. The guy who has conceded the least goals in the AFL while playing every game on the opposition's best forward. How does someone like that make an AA team?

The mind boggles doesn't it.

You can't really compare them. One is primarily a negator the other more of a rebounder. You compare Presti with Rutten, Scarlett, Glass etc. You compare Bock with Bolton, Fisher, Tarrant etc.

So why have Scarlett and Presti in the same team? The age old arguement, do you pick the best 6 backmen in the comp, or the best player in each position?

And again I'm sorry but I LOL at this (not trying to derail your thread here Gun btw) but whilst Bolton is an exceptional defender Bock is the most attacking CHB in the league...

Cox hasn't been anywhere near Sandilands this year.

Cox' stats always look impressive compared to Sandilands, but watching them there is no comparison. Sandilands is as dominant ruckman as there has ever been, hopefully the all australian committee recognise this and don't fall into their old habit of picking their favourite players..
