i hav picked some playrs in my team that i am iffy about because i cant pick premiums i have to pick players between 300k and 400k

what are peoples thoughts?

I did this once. - Not picking premiums. It was a disaster. Even though all my players were bargains and went up in value, they weren't scoring enough points and it was costing me games. I was basically forced to trade in a whole new side just to be competitive. Before I knew it all my trades were gone.

I thought picking nothing but bargains was a great idea at the time, but it was an epic fail. Don't make the same mistake! You need a balanced side of premiums, bargains, and cash cows.

Tippaz sounded him out in his guide. - Go read that.

Regardless of how much improved his DT score will be this year, he's proved himself in the past as a keeper that can score tonnes, and he's durable. Only downside is he has quiet games when Carlton are being dominated.

See his 2008 record: http://www.fanfooty.com.au/players/year.php?firstname=Brendan&surname=Fevola&year=2008

Thanks mate. Didnt know fanfooty existed, also didnt know that Tippaz did a guide.

I just put him in my team next to Cloke, Roughead, Rocca, Lloyd, Lucas and Tippet.

My forward line is looking pretty potent.

Only downside!!!!!!!!!! I would say that goes against what you are looking for in dream eam consistancy. Fev's a great player but not worth the amount you have to pay when you know he will have a brain fade or a bad game and get a 40. If you really want him wait until after the low score and pick him up then.
I'd go O'keefe or Sylvia before him

No need to be a dick-head! You asked for an unbiased opinion so I gave you the most blatantly obvious and accessible one there is. Only a tool argues with sarcasm by the way.

Not even the most Unbiased of oppinons would say that Fev will get 110 goals

Fev is a full forward, and a very inconsistent full forward at that
Yes, he can get 100+ in some games, but the next game can also get 10+
Plus i dont see Carlton improving too much on last year (not untll they find game winners, other than fev and judd)

For that price i would look at someone like Bate or Cloke (providing he plays up the ground), or fork out the extra $ for a Lynch/Okeefe/Brown/B.Johnson

Goalsquare full forwards with an ego > than their talent = no in DT

Their may be better options regarding ceiling and potential in DT scores other than FEV. But Fev would be picked in a DT side as a keeper. A keeper doesnt necessarily need to improve and in case he doesnt. Your keepers dont need to offer value. By selecting FEV i think hes one player in the higher end forwards in which you know what your gonna get by selecting him. By selecting him you lock away a spot in your side for the entire year you dont need to worry about and if he avgs anything above 80 which i think is a given than its a very good selection.

Anyone that says you need 85 for avg in forwards is dreaming, thats a dream not a reality. It might be goal but you probably wont reach it unleast you sacrifice the rest of your side.

Fevola IIRC is also very durable a forward that you know will give you an 80 avg + a few captain weeks when he plays collingwood and other sides when he scores 150 + durability means a very decent selection.

Not sure what you mean here mate, having every one of your forwards averaging > 85 by seasons end is very achievable.

It is achievable of course, in an ideal world. But when injuries strike a player averaging 80 as your 7th forward is not the be all and end all.

Although, why you would pick a player that you think is going to hold his average at 80 (when he is priced at that average) is beyond me when you could pick someone cheaper that will improve their average to 80-85.

If you were going to pick Fev it would be because you think he can kick 110+ goals and average 90. Which is ludicrous.

Then again I didnt think Ablett would do what he did last year :p

Bingo. Sylvia, Bate, Davis - all similarly priced, all with greater potential to increase their average and therefore total points output. Not to mention that if you're picking Fev, you're picking a player under an injury loud, a player that relies on teammates feeding him the ball to produce a respectable output, and a player that kicked about 100 goals last season for an average of only 82.8

Agree here BB and St K. Don't like getting into individual players but if the Blues have stated they are too one dimensional and looking to go to Fev less this year I don't see how that can help him. After all, that's why Yarran is at the Blues instead of Ziebell.

But that's the joy of DT. If somebody feels Fev will increase his average then they can ride him home. No issues with this at all.
