Funkalicious, wouldve loved Brennan to be right to go for round 1 but he wont be otherwise he wouldve been one of the first penciled in. Ive been big admireres of Brennan and Sylvia. I had them in my side for a long time. They wer going to be very cheap keepers and possible premiums. Very cheap 6th and 7th forwards.

I have gone off Sylvia a bit but its his year to shine. He has the most talent at the club melbourne and needs to show it as a number 2 or 3 draft pick. I can see him as a dominating onballer who reminds me alot of Buckley, Hird types. Big body who can push forward as a half forward flanker and have big impacts on games. The reason i am not picking him is because he 1)plays for melbourne and they will get less ball to him as a HFF. 2) Even if he starts to dominate teams will quickly shut a player like him down and i dont think he could handle a tag yet.

My worry with sylvia is durability, and also his status in the club - that 2 week ban isnt exactly what u want before the start of a season.

90-95 this year IMO.

If you think that, you should pick him IMO.

Coughlan - is anybody running with this guy? And is he still expected to miss the early rounds?

I have around $280k left for a midfielder which is a bit of annoying amount - not really star nor rookie money, but I could get Coughlan and have 100k left to upgrade another area. Any thoughts on him? Or a suggested mid for around the $280k price?

Hmmm apparently Heath Shaw is carrying a niggle. Does anyone have any specific info on what it is? I have looked on the pies board and couldn't find anything specific.

do people think david mackay is in adelaides best 22? played 18 games last year, but as pointed out by Tippaz, could have been filling in for brent reilly. mackay is currently in my team and performed quite well over the NAB cup. what do people think?

Heath Scotland

Haven't seen Scotland mentioned much. I know he's recovering from injury, but he should be right for round one according to Rutten, and played with the Bullants last week. Has had fairly good durability, missing 1 game in the last 3 years, and only 4 in the last 5.

Averaged 89.5 last year, but that was down on 99.8 from 07 and 104 in 06. Used to be considered Swan/Cross calibre, but has seemingly dropped off the planet. Is there fear that Chris A Johnson will steal his numbers? Or are people offput because Carlton's list is solely comprised of midfielders and rebounding half backs?

Butler would be a good cow around that price imo.

He comes with an injury risk as does anyone with value at that price.

Cheers :thumbsu:

I see Travis Tuck is also around in that range - does anyone think he is a potential cash cow? Just think he might be a little more of a chance to earn a regular spot in the line up than Butler at WCE.

IMO Butler's already in their 22. Don't forget he's a premiership player.

Guys there's been a couple of Carlton articles in the last day or two and Yarran's name hasn't been mentioned once. Looks like we're going to ease him in? Luckily Carlton team is released wed night, but for those starting Yarran on the field just be weary.

Ratten speaking
He said the Blues also had four players in contention to make their AFL debuts, with Mitch Robinson, Sam Jacobs, Aaron Joseph and Jeff Garlett all under consideration.

Unbelievable that Gartlett could get a game before Yarran. From what I've seen of Gartlett he's a skinny turnover-merchant. I wouldn't worry about Yarran not playing round 1. If it happens, you need to look at the big picture. Yarran's class and he'll be worth it in DT once he gets his chance - which should be round 2 if not round 1. But it was a worrying article given the lack of available forward rookies. Will there be a forward line curse this season?

IMO still a gun. Although his had an interrupted pre season. I had him all of last year. He had a really shit start to the year. But in the middle of the year gave me some great scores. Only danger is how KP will he play.
IMO still a good pick:thumbsu:. Sorry if i didnt give you any stats or anything, just tried to give you m opinion.

Was like my favourite player.

Had him 2 years ago. What a gun. Scored 150 in the last 07 game as my captain! :D

Injury riddled pre season. But supposingly had the ball on a string in the VFL last week. Risky, only because of Chris Johnson coming in. But with Carazzo injured, will be a good unique pick up IF he stays on the park. :thumbsu:

Scotland = risk v reward. If you are picking a few other injury-riddled players such as Drummond, Malceski, Raines etc, then I would not be selecting Scotland.

Heath Scotland has missed just 1 H&A game over the past 3 season and only 4 over the past 5 seasons.

He's also never had off-season surgery to this tune before. How his body will now handle the rigours of a 22gme AFL season remains to be seen, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him miss a game or two due to 'general soreness'

I read this story on my phone earlier today. There was a piece at the end that referred to Yarran that isnt with this story. Ill find it quickly...

Here it is. It continues from the part about Robinson/Garlett and the rest being possible starters:

"But the Blues top draft pick from last year in Chris Yarran is an unlikely starter and is likely to be eased into the senior team after first playing in the VFL for a couple of weeks."

Doesnt sound good, will have to trade him out of the team now...

JONATHAN BROWN!!????

hes been abit of a smokey for me (obviously everyone knows hes a gun) but ive seen very few teams with him in

i know everyone says he starts slow etc. but will he be good enough for his price to have at the start
now being the most senior player at brisbane might spur him on

Thanks mate, I suspected as much with Garlett's name being thrown around. TBH his pre-season form, however brief, hasn't warranted selection over Garlett.

If he comes into the seniors around round 3-5 and people buy him for rounds 5-7 he could be good timing to pick up. Will be one to keep an eye out for VFL form.

is deledio worth of his price of 433k odd or is it worth a downgrade to a chapman to gain another 20k odd to then upgrade my 6th back of rivers to a dempsey/petterd?

currently

backs are hodge cornes drummond malceski houlihan rivers raines

forwards are pavlich deledio n.brown d.thomas higginskrakouer hentschel
