Gary Ablett, Matthew Scarlett, Darren Milburn, Andrew Mackie and Travis Varcoe were expected to return this week, while Cameron Ling was "line ball" and Steve Johnson might be available. James Kelly was unlikely to play

Concerning for SJ as there is still doubt about him. Knowing Geelong and their conservative approach, if he hasn't fully recovered they won't play him. With all those other ins they may just decide to give him a rest for another week.
I'll be mighty pissed if he misses for the third week in a row.

Big Cox out for a few but hopefully back...

"At this stage we're hoping that they may only miss two or three weeks and we'll get them back up and going."

Flying to Adelaide for groin treatment. Here's hoping he comes back this season cause I'm stuck with the big fella till death do us part, or the end of the season. Whichever comes first.

No idea if Jacobs will be back to cover for me anytime soon. Anyone?

Eagles send pair to specialist (AFL.com.au

WEST COAST will send star pair Dean Cox and Daniel Kerr to Adelaide this week to seek specialist treatment on their troublesome groins.

Coach John Worsfold said neither player required season-ending surgery, and he was hopeful they would be available for selection in two to three weeks.

Kerr hasn't played since the round 13 win over Hawthorn, while Cox returned after a two-week layoff to face St Kilda, but spent the entire last quarter on the bench.

"The issue is that the soreness that they've got came on reasonably suddenly, but it hasn't gone suddenly and that's the concern," Worsfold said on Tuesday from Subiaco Oval.

"Both players are going to fly to Adelaide with the team on Friday to see a specialist in that area over there, just for another opinion on what he thinks may be happening.

"At this stage we're hoping that they may only miss two or three weeks and we'll get them back up and going."

West Coast has had a horror run with groin injuries in recent seasons, with Sam Butler, Chris Masten, Mark LeCras, Brad Ebert, Chad Fletcher, Beau Waters and Luke Shuey all struck down.

Worsfold said the Adelaide specialist that will treat Cox and Kerr, Dr Steve Saunders, had dealt with West Coast players in the past.

Adelaide, Fremantle, Carlton, Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions have also enlisted the specialist's help.

"He's got a reputation, he's renowned (and) he's done some good work," Worsfold said.

"He's actually assessed some of our players in the past, both in Adelaide and he's been to Perth before to look at some of the players.

"He's had good results with some of his programs treating and preventing these types of injuries."

Cox's injury has thrown open the door for forgotten ruckman Mark Seaby to take on Port Adelaide ruck duo Dean Brogan and Brendon Lade on Sunday.

Seaby has been a solid contributor for West Perth in the WAFL, but Nic Naitanui and Quinten Lynch have been preferred as backup for Cox since Seaby's last AFL game in round nine.

"I would expect that Seabs would come in knowing the quality of ruckmen we're up against," Worsfold said.

"He didn't want Coxy to get sore, but it's happened and that gives him his opportunity."

Lynch stepped in to lead the ruck for large parts of West Coast's 20-point loss to St Kilda and Worsfold said he had been really pleased with his output this season.

"He got pretty tired in the last quarter and Gardiner started to dominate the hit-outs, but when he's fresh he's really held his own."

Star Eagles to see specialist (Sportal)

Star West Coast duo Dean Cox and Daniel Kerr will travel to Adelaide with the team on Friday, but to see a groin specialist and not face Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.

The All-Australian pair will miss at least the next three weeks with groin injuries that the Eagles are still unsure what the specific problems are, but are hopeful a renowned specialist can help them recover.

Coach John Worsfold said on Tuesday that they are hoping to get some answers to determine when or if Cox and Kerr can play again, or at all again in 2009.

"Both players are going to fly to Adelaide with the team on Friday to see a specialist in that area over there just for another opinion on what he thinks may be happening. That's the next step and the issue is that the soreness came on reasonably suddenly, and hasn't gone suddenly," Worsfold said.

"If it was just a muscle strain in either case you would expect that it would clear up reasonably quickly, but they haven't. It's something that we want to make sure we know exactly what it is."

"At this stage, we are hoping that they might only miss two or three weeks and that we will get them back up and going. We expect both to be unavailable this week and next, and then we don't know from there."

With Cox out from the ruck and the Eagles coming up against Power pair Dean Brogan and Brendon Lade, Mark Seaby will get a call up for his first AFL game since Round 9 after consistent form in the WAFL with West Perth.

"I would expect that Seabs will come in knowing the quality of ruckmen that we are coming up against," he said.

"He's always been fully aware of where he has sat, his attitude has been outstanding and he's played very good footy. He didn't want Coxy to get sore, but it's happened and he gets his opportunity."

Worsfold will most likely use Seaby as his No. 1 ruckman with Quinten Lynch and Nic Naitanui, whom he expects to return, to be his relief.

"Nic's injury is going pretty good and everyone expects that he will be right. Lynchy has gone really well and I've been pleased," he said.

"He got tired in the last quarter and (Michael) Gardiner started dominating the hit outs, but when he's fresh he has done really well. He (Lynch) can't do it on his own, but can as a backup. He could grow further in it if we want to give him that opportunity."

West Coast has lost 18 straight games on the road but Worsfold is confident his young side can get it right and break that hoodoo on Sunday at a ground the Eagles have done well against the Crows, but not the Power.

"Most of our travel program is the same as it was in 2005-06-07 and it works pretty well, so we think we know the best way to travel. There is a couple of things we will do differently this week, though, with the earlier game start and are travelling on Friday with no training before that," he said.

"It's a funny one. We haven't had a good record against Port Adelaide there, but we've had a reasonable one against Adelaide, so that's one of those mental things. We are confident we can win there even though Port is a good side and can still play really good footy."

DEAN Cox and Daniel Kerr will spend at least the next fortnight on the sidelines as the Eagles attempt to diagnose their mystery injuries.

The duo will visit a specialist in Adelaide this week in a bid to get the bottom of their complaints, which West Coast medical staff believe are groin related.

Eagles coach John Worsfold could not rule out the possibility the pair were suffering from the dreaded osteitis pubis.

Kerr has missed the past two games with his complaint, while Cox spent almost a month on the sidelines before returning for last Sunday's loss to St Kilda.

However, Cox's injury flared by halftime and he was unable to run out the match.

Worsfold said the pair would miss the next 2-3 weeks at least, and possibly sit out the remainder of the season.

"Both players are going to fly to Adelaide with the team on Friday to see a specialist ... just for another opinion on what he thinks may be happening, so that's the next step," Worsfold said on Tuesday.

"The issue is the soreness they've got came on reasonably suddenly but it hasn't gone suddenly, that's the concern."
