I've come to the realisation that I have to trade Ottens to avoid a donut this week, so I'm thinking either go Ottens - Fraser for a decent consistent player, or Ottens - Kreuzer for more money, but perhaps less consistency.

Gut says Fraser but I could use the money to upgrade a defender

My other rucks are Andrew Browne and Daniel Currie

Wouldn't trust Rance to keep his spot. Raines should be back for round 5.

I'd start Petrenko, Crows are playing Freo where as Melbourne are playing their bogie team Port.

Fraser is underpriced. He had an injury hampered 2008. Probably the better choice. Kreuzer will be a gun but he's a second year Ruckman...YUK.

Right, I've gotta get rid of Hill. If he's named, i'm losing cash. If he's not named I cop a donut. I'm thinking the injured Buckley down to either Ellis or Hargrave to trade Hill up to Gilbert. So in essence. Ellis vs Hargrave, what are the pros and cons.

I have a minor problem considering trading, and am seeking an opinion.

My current backline stands as 7th Raines, 8th Suban, 9th Broughton. The first trade will most likely be Raines for either Cheney/Petrenko.
Raines --> Cheney/Petrenko (188,100 - 86,600 = $101,500 spare).

A) This then brings me to my midfield. 6th Hill, 7th Anthony, 8th Beams. If I decide to trade Hill > Robinson.
Hill --> Robinson (142,600 - 86,600 = 56,000).

Spare cash: 157, 500 + 2000 extra = 159, 500. This leaves me enough money to upgrade a rookie to a premium within the next few rounds.

B) or, alternatively I could trade out Anthony for Robinson. Leaving me with 103,500 and 3 playing rookies (in the mid).

The question is, is it worth having Hill in the mids and risk loosing money on him.

The next round, if i choose a) i'll look to trade Anthony to Zaharakis. If i choose b) I'll consider Hill for Zaharakis trade next round.

Really, it all depends on if Hill will reach his break even or not. It sounds stupid what I have just said, but if Hill turns out to be a dud ths round...

whats everyon doin wif knights....keepin him or tradin him? if i kep him ill be runnin beams, rich and otten in the midfield and had intended on keepin knights for the season. whats everyone gonna do wif him?

Similar issues with Hill.

I have 3 rookies in the back but im thinking of picking up Cheney then getting rid of Nicoski (SHUT UP!!!) for Harding

im really stuck on who to pick out of:
Andy Otten
or
Dayne Beams
or
David Zaharakis

Otten is safe bett and should average around 70. But Beams is a perfect fit according to 3AW to the collingwood team and he could easily be the Palmer of '09. David Zaharakis is in form and will smash some big scores and seems safe for a while.

Its so hard!!!

First he is injured and will miss 4 weeks.

i reckon you should keep him if you got Otten,Rich and Beams. Its smart because if you want to trade you can get the likes of Adam Cooney who is going to drop.

Hey guys, have 20 trades left and dont want to use them if i absolutely must.
I have Ottens, Raines,Butler, Anthony, and Hill who i am considering trading.
- Ottens is obviously injured but should i trade him to Fraser/HMac/Kreuzer or play jacobs and hold on to him
- Raines i want to hold on to as he is prob 2 weeks away and i have suban/hill backing up
- Butler if he isnt played this week i could do trade to Beams/Zaharakis or wait till next week to see if there spots in side are good
- Anthony i could trade to Beams/Zaharakis this week or next or just wait for Anthony to play as i have Robbo covering for butler
- Hill i might hold onto but his breakeven is pretty high and i could trade him to Cheney or Rance

Thoughts, Suggestions? cheers felllas

I have butler and knights too, im getting rid of knights this week. I would keep him though if you have those rookies to back him up...
My dilemma comes next week. Im gonna get Ellis and one of beams/zacharias, and i will have to decide whether i should get rid of

Raines and Anthony
OR
Butler and Hill

I really want to hang on to Raines AND butler, cos it sounds like they might come in handy later down the track, but that is not an option (i will be 20K short). What is the deal with Butler? I thought he was a premiership star, not the one made example of by getting dropped...

Hi All,

This is my first year of DT and I'm pretty happy with how I've been going so far averaging just over 2k and ranked 650~.

I'm a little stuck because there seems to be a lot of conflicting advice such as whether to trade some underperforming players now, keep them etc etc.

My team is as follows:

B: Hodge, Fisher, P. Burgoyne, Houlihan, Rance, Suban, Hill (Raines, Broughton)
M: Bartel, Corey, Judd, Higgins, D. Rich, Cooney (Robinson, Sidebottom)
R: Cox, McIntosh (Giles, Currie)
F: Deledio, Giansiracusa, S. Johnson, J. Brown, Lucas, Skipworth, Ziebell (Yarran, Ballantyne)

Now my issues and thoughts are as follows:
I have no backup Forward, Ruck or Back. Possibly Broughton this week if he's brought in. Despite this I haven't used a trade and seem to be able to avoid a donut this week if either Hill or Broughton get a game.

Because I'm completely new to this I'm trying to learn as much as I can about trading strategies and it seems that starting 5 rookies on the field isn't great. My backline is obviously the real weak point with Hill, Rance and Suban starting. I only have 23.7k in the bank which limits my upgrade options.

Trades I've been considering:

Hill > Petrenko (Over Cheney or should it be the other way?)

I am happy enough to wait for Raines to come back as many people believe he will average enough to up his price. Otherwise, with the money from the Hill trade I could go Raines > Gilbert.

This would upgrade my backs to Hodge, Fisher, P. Burgoyne, Houlihan, Gilbert, Petrenko, Rance (Suban, Broughton). Gets 1 rookie off the field but blows 2 trades...

Another option could be Yarran > Krakouer up the front instead of the Raines trade to get Ziebell off the field and provide some donut coverage.

Of course I could just wait another week, take the small loss from Hill and reassess. I don't think I have the experience to even contemplate going for the car this year but I would definitely like to win my league so that is the aim.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Should I keep Raines and Hentschel. Have Petrenko, Cheney and Broughton in the backline, so I have cover. Have Walker and Mitch Brown as back ups in forward line. Interested in Skipworth. Is it worth getting him now or have I missed the boat?

I'm gonna sit on Knights. He is a scoring machine that flies under the radar. I have enough bench depth to cover him for now with Beams and Robinson, but if it becomes plainly obvious that he is gonna be a lot longer prospect than 4 weeks and I'm copping doughnuts weekly, then I may re-evaluate that stance.

What is Hill's BE this week?

I think he has to maintain an average of 56? Suffice to say unless he has a blinder he is gonna drop in value if he plays this week. But I think he will improve as the season unfolds and he is less over-awed by the whole AFL footy thing. I dont think he will be a big scorer, but I think he will be an honest bench type player that will appreciate in value, albeit not Palmeresque.

Hentschel should be on the block IMO. Hasn't been a good scorer historically, and hasn't shown much in games this year. If you have the trades I'd go Hentschel to Skipworth - his value change wont be until after next round. But he has shown to be a vital forward line link man for the Dons - that means plenty of marks, kicks and the occassional goal - all good scoring traits. If he tackled more he would be phenomenal!

Backs : Hodge, Lockyer, Cheney, Chornes, Petrenko, Birchall, Mcphee (Hill, Raines)

Midfield:
Swan, Gibbs, Selwwod, Kerr, Hasleby, Rich (Otten, Whitecross)

Rucks:
Hille, Cox, (Jacobs, Spencer)

Forwards:
Lucas, Deledio, Okeefe, B. Johnson, Higgins, Skipworth, Ziebel (Hentchel, Walker)

bold players arnt//might not be playing this wk
was thinking hill for rance...but now having doubts that rance will get many more games
should i downgrade somewhere and upgrade hill or raines to a harding//houlihan

thoughts

Are Hentschel -> Zieball and Raines/Hill -> Cheney worthwhile trades?

tough one to call without knowing your whole squad. Hentschel IMO a definite yes. The backline guys is for you to decide.

Depending on how much you have spare, maybe punt Raines for Cheney and use your excess cash to upgrade Hentschel to a keeper? But again, I dont know what your teams comprises of so its a bit of a guess really....

Thanks but I already have Higgins and Skipworth and I don't think there are any players around the 200k price in the forwards other than them worthwhile picking up so I might as well just get Zieball and save the cash for later trades.

Seriously thinking of trading out Lade for Kruezer.
Do people think Kruezer will be a keeper this year?
Would pocket 100k but not sure its worth the trade
Lade is looking awful and is about to drop in price... Kruezer looking great and about to skyrocket
