what are ppls thoughts on trading out david mackay ($222) for daniel rich ($120ish) ???

mackay is av about 68 rich 85 .... i'll pocket $100000 and rich by the looks of it will be a far better cash cow... and av the same if not more..

is it worth wasting a trade on??? i have anthony and robinson on bench

thanks in advance

Pirelli - I think if your main aim is to win your league then you need to have say 6-7 trades leftover late in the season (round 18 onwards) to cover for injuries suspensions in the finals as well as late season upgrades.

I think your lack of high scoring and playing rookies (apart from Rich and possibly Robinson) and weak 5-9th backs might mean you need to trade some underperforming or dropped backline rookie (e.g Hill) for someone who might be a bit better (e.g. Grimes) later in 5-6 weeks and then upgrade him again later.

For most teams I would think a Hill trade to Petrenko/Cheney would be a waste but given your weak 5-9 backs and lack of playing and high scoring cash cows it does make some sense. The alternative is waiting for a new and seemingly better cash cow back to come along in the next few weeks but they don't come along as frequently as the midfield ones.

You've had a good run with injuries/suspensions so far so maybe use a trade Hill - Cheney or Petrenko - flip a coin. I would concentrate your efforts on the backline for the next 5-6 weeks as that is where your weakness is. I wouldn't worry about getting a few donuts in the coming weeks - you only win your league in the last weeks of the year.

umm i wouldnt think so, but u would hav picked adcock as a keeper wouldnt u ?

also
if Hill doesnt get picked, is it worth trading him out for cheney or otten ? will cheney play many games? cuz i hav petrenko covering raines and i will have broughten in if he gets named instead of hill ...

You see that's the thing. On paper, Adcock to Lockyer looks like an ok trade. But if I picked Adcock as a keeper (which I did) then it's sideways.

My rationale is I've done pretty well in picking good keepers, except probably Adcock, and we all make mistakes, maybe I should jump off before it's too late.

Not to say that I am uimpressed with Adcock, he scored 75 against WC and 63 agaisnt a carlton side that restricts point scoring, but I just see the upside in Lockyer to be great. Not sure what to do.

Do you have Hill in the mids? Cheney should play for now, not sure when Grimes comes back.

I would bet my left nut that either Hill and/or Broughton will be in the side. IMO a wasted trade as you wont be copping a doughnut. They may not be scoring all that greatly, but ride the storm and hold onto your trades like they are gold nuggets and use them when you absolutely have to (scoring doughnuts through suspensions/dropped players/injury) or you have a good cash cow -> keeper trade.

Hill's probable inclusion has made this tough

i can do

Hill -> 86k
Knights ->Power/Boyd
or
Raines ->86k
Knights -> Swan

i don't wanna use these trades as early as now, and given Hill or Broughton play this week i won't be copping any zeros though i'd be playing Hill, Suban and Rich,Robinson
and have no cover for backs nor mids.

though i am tempted to jump on swan now and get hold of a top 5 player early on and out of the way, though this will mean having 4/9 backs being rooks...

i guess i did look at Knights as a keeper, but 4 weeks means at least 50 potential points sitting on the bench (diff between knights and sub) and given that i want to dominate my league from start to finish, which is my main objective, i want to field a strong team going into the head2heads..

Sucks to be me working from 4-9pm thurs :(

Thanks so much for your input. I'll wait for the lists tomorrow then do the Hill trade!

What do people think about J. Garlett?

I'm looking at trading Henstchel for Garlett purely as a money making trade. He looks good with an avg of 60. Can we expect him to keep his spot for the next two or 3 weeks?

i wouldnt think he will keep his spot with all the carlton players due back in next couple of weeks... mainly midfielders to come back in but i think he will be one of the first to go from the side

???????

anyone considered heath hocking? dont no much about him are there any essendon supporters who know if he will stay in the side for long?
I'm not sure if he can keep the scoring up, but the way he is playing I see no reason why he would lose his spot in the side. Has upside if he can continue to score the way he is.

You sure that's the worst thing in your team at the moment? I don't think increasing your bank by $100,000 is worth a trade. I think they will average pretty similar so the cash is the only reason to do it. I wouldn't do it.

You're pretty much right, it's so hard because he's been performing ok, especially considering his size.

If we drop a game over the next two weeks and he doesn't perform he will probably go imo.

Just had a quick look at Xavier Ellis' finish to the season - he averaged 88 over the final 6 games (plus scores of 85 and 136 come finals). Started the season with a score of 82 against Sydney. If he can average 85 he would be a keeper in my mind.

Ive got both McMahon and Bock not playing this week, and im loading with some odd trades. Currently looking at doing Simmonds -> Kreuzer and McMahon -> Fisher. They dont seem like good trades, but they really help set my season up.

Alternatively, I could trade McMahon down to Ellis. Gives me an additional 50k to play with, for a total of 348k. Enough to upgrade Brown/Walker plus Cheney at some point.

Thoughts?
