Played very well for Bendigo this weekend, hard to see him not getting back into the ones. Was a class above according to reports.
I like the Grimes one, he has the potential to be a keeper.
Brown to Sidebottom lets you trade in one mature cash cow for another who will also rise in value ... if you have the trades in hand for future upgrades this sounds fine too ... if you are short on trades though ... there are new 'sidebottoms' popping up every week ... you can only pick up so many
(For me last year, when Didak and Shaw got dropped and Ablett injured I ended up running out of trades with plenty still left in the bank.)
Question- Why wouldnt you get Grimes???
If hurley gets back i wouldnt worry but if he doesnt i would trade because petrenko may be dropped or else he my give u less than 20
Why wouldnt I get Grimes? Sheer fact that he is still a Rookie and no job guaranteee. Still carrying Hill on field also, which doesnt help.
Need someone cheap thats guaranteed to play every game and more points than petrenko

I think they are OK trades as I'm also thinking Petrenko to Grimes.
Sidebottom is clearly a good pickup, but personally I'm going to try to keep Brown as my 8th forward as I dont think he will miss too many games.
The other trade I'm considering is Hill/Houlihan to Gilbee if anyone has any thoughts?

Two trades this week and the next for sure, have 16 ATM so I can afford to used a couple in the next few weeks.
Players I want out of my team: (In Order)
Hill (If dropped)
Milburn (If injured)
Whitecross (Would be an easy player to upgrade, and would complete my midfield until the later rounds.
A Graham (On my bench and would free up about 160k if I trade him for Jacobs.)
M Brown (Has probably peaked but is capable of reaching his B/E as well.)

Mackie/Fisher/Purgoyne
Grimes
Johnstone/Cooney/Cross
If Milburn and Hill don't play they will be my two outs, with Hill out for Grimes, and Milburn out for Mackie/Fisher.

I'm happy that finally my trades seem to be working out. I have recently added Grimes, Gilbee and Coughlin and I am very happy with the points they have given my team.
On the flip side I've made some bad calls, Wells, Hadley and Moss.

Out of those I would think the safe option would be Enright considering he's the only one who looks the only option there to most likely play in all games the rest of the year.

For consistent scores, Birchall or Scotland. For potentially huge scores but also some shockers, go for Enright or Purgs. I'd stay away from Embley, way too risky.
I would imagine my Midfield/Forward is my strong points, especially with Ablett/Higgins returning this week. Backline is definitely a concern and I plan to fix it in the next few weeks as I played 4 rookies in the back this past week.

Hill > Grimes (Hill has a BE of 86, while he will most likely recover in terms of value in the next 2-3 weeks, i simply cannot afford to keep him in my team as i need some dough, his replacement sounds like a possibly keeper, if not, still a good acquisition in terms of cash value for the latter)
Petrenko > (any cash cow below 90k, possibly Greenwood though I'll need to search around and see where he is at)

My eye is also on Riewoldt. Although he's priced high at the moment and will probably drop later in the season, the Saints upcoming games are BL (TD), Melbourne (GCS), and North (TD). Getting him now will give me a good points boost over the next three weeks.
I have cash in the bank, so willing to make the investment. Anyone think this is a stupid idea?

Depends on the rest of your team, trades used and the amount of money you have.
Just off the top of my head ROK, Gia, Goodwin look pretty decent in terms of pricing.

I've been very conservative with trades, plenty of them, and plenty of cash if I make a downgrade (possibly downgrading Hill > Broughton in defence).
Saved the trades and the cash for moments like this.
I got my lowest score this week, and have big games in my league coming up. I need the points!
