2009 Trade Discussion - Part 5

Hey, we're in similar situations mate, I have 11 trades left too but only $54,900 in the kitty. Heres my team:

Backs:
Goddard, Cornes, Fisher, Adcock, Cheney, Broughton, Petrenko (Hodge, Bock)
Mids: Bartel, Swan, Gibbs, J. Selwood, Rich, Otten (Beams, Anthony)
Rucks: Cox, HMac (Jacobs, Spencer)
Forwards: Riewoldt, Chapman, Deledio, Franklin, Higgins, Walker, Brown (Ziebell, Hogan)

I would like to get two out of three of Johnson, Pavlich and O'Keefe but I'm having trouble working out a way to do it. Would you care to exchange ideas seeing as though we're in similar boats? I'm going to read your post in more detail now and respond.
Wow. Our teams are amazingly similar. You're looking at getting 2 of Pav, SJ and ROK - I have Pav/SJ and I'm loking at getting 2 of Riewoldt, Buddy (both who you have) and ROK.

I think SJ has a BE of mid 20's this week, so this week's the time to get him. To be honest, looking at your rookies, I can't really see any downgrade that could get you the $$ for SJ. Well, you could go Rich/Otten --> Daveport, and then upgrade either Walker or Brown, but I'm not sold on Davenport.

To get Pav: Rich/Otten to Sidebottom, Walker/Brown to Pav?
To get ROK: Walker to Sidebottom, Brown to ROK?

If you're keen on ROK, I'd probably go with that option. It means you can keep Rich and Otten, who could help you pick up another upgrade down the track. What do you think? I guess you'd be trying to get SJ and Pav in though as your main priority.

I agree with you, Buddy is (IMO) the best option there. He has been average at times, but is still scoring decently. Once he gets form back look out. I already have Gia, but he would also be a good option. Coincidence that he scored well when Higgins didnt play though?

Oh and the only reason I took Hill in the mids was because I thought Hurley was the best back rookie option, and couldnt afford them both down back on the pine. Would have been a good move but for Hurleys quad.

Exactly what i thought. Still not sold on him.

I'd like to keep Brown, and trade out Walker instead. I think Brown is a better bench option, which is how it will go when Ziebell comes back for me (barring any further fwdline injuries).
You're right on SJ, the trouble is unless I trade Chapman out I can't realistically reach him. Additionally, I don't want to get rid of Chapman unless it was for someone like SJ who can score as well, or better than him. Chapman for O'Keefe is a downgrade, I don't like it unless I could use the cash to upgrade Walker to Pavlich at least. The other thing is that SJ will go up this week, it does seem like now or never for him. I'm making things hard for myself arent I haha.
Thanks for your help anyway, I'm sure I will figure it out eventually ;)

I would imagine my Midfield/Forward is my strong points, especially with Ablett/Higgins returning this week. Backline is definitely a concern and I plan to fix it in the next few weeks as I played 4 rookies in the back this past week.

Current Team:

B: Cornes, Adcock, Scotland, Hill, Suban, Petrenko, Broughton (Houlihan, Hodge)
M: Ablett, Gibbs, Judd, J Selwood, K Cornes, Rich (Beams, Anthony)
R: Cox, Kreuzer (Jacobs, Spencer)
F: Pavlich, Deledio, Gianciracusa, B Johnson, Franklin, Higgins, Warren (M Brown, Ballantyne)

15 Trades left, 34, 400 cash

If Houlihan is named:
Hill > Grimes (Hill has a BE of 86, while he will most likely recover in terms of value in the next 2-3 weeks, i simply cannot afford to keep him in my team as i need some dough, his replacement sounds like a possibly keeper, if not, still a good acquisition in terms of cash value for the latter)

Petrenko > (any cash cow below 90k, possibly Greenwood though I'll need to search around and see where he is at)

---

If Houlihan isnt named, I must persist with Petrenko for at least another week:
Hill > Grimes

Beams > Sidebottom (Frees up alot of money for the following week)

I've basically locked in the Hill>Grimes trade which will give me 99,700k with 14 trades remaining. Thoughts?

oh. your backline need some work.

If houlihan is named, swap petrenko for grimes.
There are not too many back downgrades now. so trading those players down will be a little tough....
id be more comfortable keeping hill rather than pestinko

Has anyone watched Jack Grimes (or Grimey as he likes to me called) play?

Sure his dt scores have been impressive but is he good enough to keep his spot and also keep up this quality?

No doubt. Huge wraps on the kid, has been talked about as a future leader of the club. Wont get dropped.

Thinking about downgrading Hodge to Grimes to give me a whopping 146k which I can use to make a big upgrade which I could really use. I can't play Rich and Otten in the midfield forever, I need a Premium right about now.

This week,
Should be going

Out Taylor Walker
In: Sidebottom

Out: Ricchitelli(why'd i pick him?)
In: S.Thompson

Laves me with 10 trades, then ill lay off the trades for 2 weeks.

Id wait on thompson A10 - has two more weeks for the 57 to go through his rolling average and will drop below 350k. Wait till he's dropped more and has a bit of form with him.

Hey guys, this is my current side when fit:

Fisher, Cornes, Lockyer, Bock, Geary, Raines, Hill (Petrenko, Rance)

Ablett, Swan, Gibbs, J Selwood, Coughlan, Rich (Hartlett, De Boer)

Cox, HMac (Jacobs, Browne)

Riewoldt, S Johnson, Pavlich, Deledio, Gia, Higgins, Ziebell (Walker, W Thompson)
52k in bank

Was intially thinking of doing Rance to Broughton
Petrenko to Grimes

but I'm low on trades and looking at my side I realistically need to get another keeper/premium into my defence.

So I was thinking of doing Rance to Broughton (leaves me with about 178k) and then Hill to Mackie or Gilbee - could actually afford any defender including Goddard but not sure if it's worth using all my cash. I will need at least 100+ k to upgrade Rich to a premium mid down the track.

I could also turn Geary into Goddard without spending too much money but I think Geary can go up a bit more yet and push 350+

Would love to get rid of Petrenko but a downgrade doesn't net enough cash and an upgrade wouldn't get me a true keeper/premium so may have to hold onto him for now.

Thoughts on this? Any other defenders spring to mind or any other thoughts? I could also use the money to finalise my mids and turn Rich into someone like Murphy but I think Rich has a fair way to go yet. I also
think Ziebell has a way to go and will probably be one of the last players I look to upgrade (although ROK and Buddy are looking quite appealing to finish off my forwards) Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for your advice guys.

If you want a premium back player go Rance -> Broughton and then Hill -> Mackie imo

If you want to save a bit of cash and a trade at this point, Go Hill -> Grimes he wont be a premium like the others but he should be a keeper

Hey guys, there are three trades I'm looking at this week:

Hill --> Grimes
Rich --> Sidebottom
M. Brown --> Premium forward (probably Stevie J)

I'm leaning towards doing trades 1 and 3 because I think my midfield is probably my strongest line at the moment (scored a massive 686 between them last week):

Ablett, Gibbs, Mitchell, Morton, Selwood, Coughlan (Rich, Robinson)

The only thing that is worrying me about this decision is that I will miss out on Sidebottom. Are there any other midfield rookies coming through in the next couple of weeks that will provide a good downgrade target for Rich?

Hentchel for Sidebottom or Ballantyne??

Definately Sidebottom. If you need more cash in the forwards then you can downgrade someone else to Ballantyne when he is on the bubble.

Do 1 and 3. If Rich keeps his ave he will rise 10.7k and 9.9k for the following two weeks.

Liam Anthony should be playing soon, may have to look into that though

Im thinking Hill to Grimes, Otten -> Coughlan.

I know i missed the boat a little on Coughlan but I wasn't sold but he looks fit and is firing, it will give me enough to upgrade Rich to pretty much anyone and finish my midfield.

Anyone think that Coughlan is ok as a 6th mid.

My other mids atm Bartel Corey Kornes Otten (Coughlan) Rich (Swan in 2 weeks) Hartlett em Beams Zaha.

Next week thinking beams to 86K and the week after Zaha to ~400K

Harlett will be my mid emerg for the year.

Looking to upgrade Otten and Rich in the next two or three weeks.

Who are people looking at as upgrade targets?

I know names mentioned below 400 have been Scott Thompson and Cross, but I would rather trade in genuine premiums and I have doubts over these two players.

I would assume Kornes will be back to his best in two weeks time so this is probably perfect, while Priddis' 66 means he will be big value in the not to distant future too. What are peoples thoughts on Dal Santo and Pendlebury?

Yeah as a North supporter I definately have my eye on Anthony but who knows when he will play... is there anyone else??

This week ..
Hill to Broughtan (also depending on whether Houlahan gets named this week.)

T.Tuck (kept the faith far to long) to Corey

will leave me with 14 trades

Cheers Blue Boys.

You reckon Mackie is the best priced option at the moment? Had been eyeing off Gilbee but his 2 big scores has seen his price jump to nearly the same as Mackie. Considering Enright too but he's that little bit more expensive. I would like to get a premium in I think and want to get Broughton to make some cash - not too many downgrade defenders putting their hands up. Really wanted to jump on the Grimes train but with lack of trades I want to get someone durable and solid into my sidep- someone who I am certian will be a keeper barring any LTI's. Could be missing out on a gun but I don't think I can risk it. I'm sure I'll regret it later but I guess that's DT!

Option1
Hill -> Grimes
Krarkeour -> Pavlich

Bit of a sideways above, but still have enough trades to be able to upgrade Grimes if required... and Krak is done, as Port seem on the slide, Pav looking in form, should of grabbed him last week. Big mistake on my part.

Option2
Hill -> Broughton
M.Brown -> Pavlich

Broughton frees up a mountain more cash, but the issue is, my backline needs some better scoring potential as Hodge/Houlihan are currently sitting on the bench..

Thoughts?
