Hey guys, trading out H. Hartlett for any mid under $395,000.. am leaning towards M. Murphy, M. Boyd, K. Cornes, C. Judd or Daniel Cross?.. what are your thoughts?
Already got J.Selwood? If no get him if yes I would get Murphy.

This is probs a stupid Q but just conforming

Fisher and L Anthony keepers?

Hey guys,
I have Petrenko and raines still in my team. With Cornes on the bench :(

I have been copping zero for a while (hoping one of them will come back) but looking to trade out one (most likely raines). J Silvester is an option for 75,000. So is Post (Richmond also). Just wondering if any of these guys would be a good pickup?

I desperatly need a back-line downgrade target.

Yeh i`ve already got J. Selwood.. I am tossing up between Murphy and Boyd they`ve both got similar runs home and I get an extra 10,000 if I trade for Boyd which could be handy for my remaining 4 trades..

Is SJ worth the extra cash over J. Brown? Or should I wait another week to reassess? I can play Ballantyne on the field so no donut there... SJ's breakeven is 104 so won't really change much in price.

The other question is who I should downgrade out of Muston and Hartlett. Apparently Hartlett is still 3 weeks away, but his job security seems much better. Any thoughts?

made a mistake, only 5 trades. Would u consider using 2 trades this week, or only the 1 downgrade?

Also, thanks for the help, lots of ppl have just commented :D

I think Tarquin's point in offering the idea was to get you to trade heavily now in order to do two things:

1. Get your team as good as possible as soon as possible
2. Teach you a lesson about quality drafting and the value of trades ;)

As it stands, I agree completely, as this was a lesson I had to learn the hard way last year (sucky drafting left me out of trades by round 15 or 16 with a kind-of-semi-competitive-ish-but-not-really team) and it's something all new DTers have to get into their heads pretty quickly.

Another thing I'd throw out there is to not be afraid of the double trade. Base your decision to trade on the price fluctuations and performances of your team, not using a certain amount of trades at a certain time (apart from saving some for finals if possible.) For example, I upgraded my midfield much earlier this year than I thought I would (about round 7 or 8), simply because the options I was looking at opened up.

In your case, Tarquin's option of bringing Hodge in looks to be a good one, as he's slowly creeping towards that midfield. His price is surely bottomed and its something you can afford.

So, go the double :thumbsu:

Personally i would bring in stevie j over jonno brown. I always prefer to have smaller players in my forward line who get runs in the mid field that the big marking forwards. Big marking forwards are way to in consistant. IMO only two exceptions are reiwoldt and pavlich coz their both freaks. Other than those two i wouldnt have any other big markin forwards in my team. I made an exception this year with buddy and look how that turned out. Id pay the extra doh and go stevie!

Hartlett and Muston is a tought one. Id probably trade out muston. At least u know that when hartlett is fit he will be back in the team. Theres no telling when muston will be back if at all. Especially while hawthoirn are still a chance to play finals i cant see him comin back in. If they drop out of contention he may get a run coz they may breed some young guys through however i think they will be within finals contention for most of the year. If i were you id boot muston..

Firstly, why are you considering SJ? The guy has just missed a game due to a hip complaint, there is no way I would be trading him in this week. (I already have him in my squad, so I do love the guy)

As for Muston v Hartlett, that is your choice, I think you've made a great case in the final sentence. Stick with your instincts, job security sounds good to me for a bench player.

Then again, Hartlett is more expensive (I think?) and you may need that extra cash from the downgrade, but I would probably keep the person with the most job security.

Just 3 trades remaining, so would love some thoughts on my potential trades this week:

1) No trades
2) Trade Rich to Anthony as 6th mid (2 trades remain, $360k in bank)
3) Trade Rich to Sewell or someone under $448k as 6th mid (2 trades remain, $30k in bank, miss Anthony as backup)
4) Trade Rich to Ablett, Muston to Anthony (1 trade, $75k in bank, Cockie/Anthony as bench players)

Not sure I want to miss out on Anthony, but then I don't want to have weeks with $300k+ in the bank while missing out on points. Currently my 1st bench players are Broughton, Cockie (Anthony if double trade), Ballantyne (currently on field for Pav/SJ).Thoughts?

Edit: Still in eliminator!

From what I've read SJ's complaint injury wasn't too serious. I was considering trading him in last week anyway, but thought he might not make his BE playing the Saints. Now they're playing Brisbane, and Drummond is still likely to be out so I have a feeling he'll have a good game if he plays.
I can hold off the trade and play Ballantyne, but not sure if there's much point. There's a difference of 30-40 ppg between starting a rookie and trading in a premium. The big question is whether its worth the extra $50k to get SJ over Brown (who tends to do well towards the end of the year; plus Brennan is out).

As for the Muston/Hartlett situation, I think you guys make a valid point. Muston *is* cheaper, but the difference isn't huge and probably wouldn't be the difference in a later upgrade. Hartlett does seem like a better player to me as long as he comes back fully fit.

Thanks for your input guys I appreciate it.

Money in the bank isn't going to be that important with that few trades left. What you want for your bench is someone who's gonna keep their spot.
Personally, I would #4, but trade Rich to someone who's better value for money that Ablett... That would hopefully leave you enough money in the bank to do a direct upgrade somewhere else in a few weeks. Its a bit risky using up 2 trades this early, but I guess you don't have that much choice left...

Ive got 4 trades left and 130k in the bank here is my team:

B:Goddard, Mackie, Fisher, Hodge, Cornes, Ellis, Drummond (Broughton, Grima)
C: Ablett, Swan, Selwood, Judd, Hasleby, Anthony(Kerr, Muston)
R: Sandiland, Cox (Meesen,Currie)
F: Pavlich, Franklin, Didak, Fevola, Higgins, Krakouer, Thomas (Ballantyne, Wright)

I have a few options and im really unsure of what to do.

1) Upgrade Thomas to Murphy this week and then upgrade Krakouer to Deledio/Davis the next. 2 trades left and around 25k left over.
2)Leave Thomas and just upgrade Krakouer to Deledio/Davis next week. 3 trades left and around 40k left over.
3) Upgrade Kerr to Salopek and Thomas to Murphy. 2 trades left and aorund 55k left over.
4) Upgrade Krakouer to Murphy and Kerr to Salopek this week. 2 trades left and around 10k left over.

Im leaning towards option 4 but having only 2 trades remaining is a little worrying. Thoughts??

I really need help for the following:

B: Goddard, Fisher, Mackie, Hodge, Adcock, Grimes, Broughton (Chornes, Silvester)

M: Kornes, Boyd, Selwood, Gibbs, Hasleby, Rich (Anthony, Cockie)

R: Cox, Mcintosh (Spencer, Jacobs)

F: Riewoldt, SJ, Delidio, Franklin, Higgins, Pavlich, Ballyntine (Goodwin, Sidebottom)

I have 124k in the bank and i need to squeeze money from somewhere to afford bartel or even Ablett. Any ideas?

any helpers?
should i do Sidebottom-->Hogan?

hi gys, i can afford any midfielder in league. my hunch is to trade in bartel. what do u think of that compared to ablett, montagna, swan, hayes, sewell, gibbs?

Wait until teams come out because someone like Walters from Freo is likely to come in with the injuries they have and I heard they might give Suban/Hiull a rest so he could come in. McKernan is another who should stay in the team because he has been performing well in the SANFL.
