Didak's probably being slightly underrated. Averaging about 24 touches a game and has kicked 15 goals.
Probably. He'd be in the forward line of the AA team at this stage imo.

Not sure that Thomas has actually been our best player.
Swan? Collingwood are hard because their best 10 have been pretty even.

Good to see Fletcher get some recognition at last. He's been great all year. Pretty good for a 35 year old.

Oh no, here come the muppets to say that Fletcher doesn't play on the best key forward.

How apt that you post of yourself taken shortly after the draft.

lol, Pigdog has a point though. I gave Cooney votes for the game and for some reason I didn't put him up. I'll bump him up a bit. Not sure why McDonald can't be ahead of him though.

I just can't see how you could move McDonald up 8 spots on the back of the weekend games.

Now I didn't see any of the Melbourne vs WC game as I was at the Bulldogs v Sydney game, but I cannot see on the back of anything I have read that McDonald's performance could have been more influential than Cooney's especially given the results of both matches.

Yup would have Dids on a HFF, regardless of the fact that he has primarily ran through the midfield this year. He's more of a forward than Swan who was named in that position last year in the AA.

Swan has been our best especially since the Saints game (AKA the debacle). Generally has our most clearances, possessions & right up there in tackles. I think his ball use has improved again this year also. I honestly think he is one of the top 5 midfielders in the comp now (but probably closer to top 10).

Movements aren't purely based on the performance of the individual. You have a point though, maybe I bumped him up too much. I still think he has been a top 20 player this season.

I really, really think that Goodes is coasting by on his reputation from last year in this list. There's probably nearly 10 people in the unluckys (Gibbs especially) who had currently having better seasons, and would deserve that last spot in the 50 a hell of a lot more.

Also don't know if the top team on the ladder by a clear game should have their highest ranked player at number 20, but that's a bit more contentious, given that Collingwood is a very even team - as shown by having half of their best 22 either in the 50 or rated unlucky.

Apart from the last 3 quarters against Geelong and the second half against WC, Goodes has been good. By his standards he clearly has another level but his level is above the majority of the competition.

Gibbs, Kennedy, Boyd, Carrazzo, Bolton, Jack, Duffield, Salopek, Frawley and Cross are probably the next 10. So maybe one of those names should be ahead of Goodes. I think his season is being underrated slightly due to his high standards.

I'd honestly have Swan about 10-15 at this point, but that's just me...

Judd probably still a bit low. I know he's missed the 3 games but if Ablett is at 2 after missing 1, why shouldn't Judd be higher?

He's arguably been in the top 3 players on the ground in 5/5 games this season - how many others have managed that feat in 5/8 games? Ablett, Sandilands...Barlow?

Just looking at where he sits in the Brownlow votes (pretty much top 3 across the board), I think he's stiff not to be top 20.

True... Ablett was not in Geelong's best 10 players this week... plus he missed a week...

sure ablett would still rank much better... but 5/5 almost BOGs v 6 almost BOGs shouldn't have such a just a difference in ranking

It's not just about BOGs though. It's about adding some sort of value to the team. Missing a game is just a 0 imo.

Lets say you give them a mark out of 10 for each match.

Ablett
R1: 8
R2: 7
R3: 8
R4: 8
R5: 9
R6: 0
R7: 10
R8: 6

Total: 56/80

Judd:
R1: 0
R2: 0
R3: 0
R4: 8
R5: 8
R6: 9
R7: 8
R8: 8

Total: 41/80

He is still effectively 2 games behind Ablett. Which is about right. It's hard to know what to do with players when the miss games. Griffen fell 10ish spots. If he missed again he'd fall 10ish spots. So it's about 20 spots that Judd is behind Ablett. So I should move him up to about 20-25th. Not sure if that's the right way to treat players who miss games. I try and keep a rough guide of the score for the year, but in most cases a player who gets a 0 falls about 10 spots if they are high on the list.

Or I could use a system where if they play at least 60-70% of games I use their average for the missed game. So Griffen would have stayed a top 10 player this week. Judd has played just over 60% atm so is that enough to be rated in the top 5?

I was just thinking that if I picked the AA team now I would have Griffen in it but I have bumped him down behind plenty of mids, so he wouldn't make the team based on my list. Same with Judd. I'd pick him in the squad as well but he'd miss out based on my list.

I'll do this later in the week because I went away for the weekend. Only game I have seen is the Swans one. I've taped most of the games so I'll probably have the list up on Wednesday or Thursday. Sorry guys.

Cooney played another ripper... Surely he will find his way into the top 10 this week. ;)
