Moloney has been better than McDonald for Melbourne. Stiff to miss out.

Wellingham ranked ahead of Pavlich, now there's something I thought I'd never see. Only a handful of people on here would've rated him last year, probably one of the most improved players in the comp, the gap between him now and last year is astounding.

I think it's Jamar and McDonald as a clear top 2.

After that
3. Green
4. Grimes
5. Frawley
6. Moloney
7. Petterd

Moloney has been good but it's your defence that has bee outstanding imo. Expecially Grimes and Frawley. Maybe I'm overrating Grimes and Green but they have been consistently good so far imo.

Gibbs would be close to the performance of the week... let alone make it in the team of the week... terrible call imo

Really? He wasn't even a clear best for that match let alone the week.
I thought Ablett, Scotland and Judd were definitely better and Armfield and Russell slightly better.

I didn't watch the match only listened to it so hard to judge but Gibbs did receive the perfect 10 in coaches votes.

Watched STK v WBD, NTH v MEL, SYD v BRI, GEE v PTA, WCE v FRE and bits of CAR v COLL.

Didak, Carlile, Russell and Gilbee very unlucky for the top 50. I try not to be bias(biased? I don't get the difference) when doing things like this but I think all of those Swans deserve to be in the top 50. 3 near BOG's for Judd can't be ignored now. Probably lucky but he is too good atm.

When I've finished my studies and work has died down a bit during the next week I'll start doing this list midweek so I can watch the replays of the games I miss.

I say this in a friendly way...

But what does Stanton need to do to get into the top 50?

He's been our best player this year and isn't even in the unlucky section?

I might be a bit off with Essendon becasue they are the team I have watched the least amount of this year. Twice they have clashed with a Swans game and Stanton was missing from the WC game I watched. He should be in the unlucky section, so should Pears but I took him out after his injury. I'd definitely have Watson as your best and then Fletcher 2nd best.

Stanton gets a lot of the ball but doesn't really influence the game as much as he should. R1 he was outstanding but apart from that I haven't seen any decent form from him. Which is partly due to me missing two games but from what I read on the Essendon board/match reports I don't think he has been your best this year.

This is a good reason why I will start watching the replays of games during the week and then doing the list. I could be completely wrong and Stanton could be your best player this year.

I think your being a bit generous to Hodge. The way I see it, his team is 1 - 5, and if you look at the players around him Sandilands, Ablett, Brown etc, they would have single handedly lifted the Hawks to at least another win. He only got it 19 times on Saturday with 4 clangers... 2nd best player in the league? I'm not sure.. My opinion though.

Rest of the list looks fantastic, Stanton stiff. I see you caved to the pressure to put Judd in, I think over the 5 games Stanton would have to be better than the two Judd played.

List is looking better and better as time goes on. Gilbee has to be the stiffest of all, I'd probably find room for him in there if possible. Franklin very, very stiff to not even be rated as Unlucky.

Hodge has been insane this year.He has tried his heart out and has dominated for that team this year. The others needs to take a leaf out of his book.I think he has been the best player this year tonne of possessions clearances tackles and has to ruck.

He is ave 29.3 possessions a game and 5.7 tackles his game against Collingwood was one of the best games i have seen.34 possessions 13 clearances 14 contested possessions 6 tackles was brilliant even more so when they were getting smashed.

Is very easy to play good in a good team the cream rises to the top when the team is going bad.

He is a out and out superstar.

I'd definitely have Watson as your best and then Fletcher 2nd best.

Agree that Watson and Fletcher have been our best and probably by a fair bit. I think Fletcher gets rated pretty harshly on this site because people can't get past the fact that he doesn't often match up on the best forward. He is the best kick in our team, reads the play as well as anybody in the game and is yet again having a great year.

Sidebottom2Beams summed it up well. Hodge is carrying a football club on his back. Franklin has started to help but Hodge has been brilliant so far this year.

lol I did. Probably shouldn't be but he has played half of the games now and has 3 near BOGs.

Franklin has only played two good games so far but he looks like he is building. Gilbee is unlucky but I thought his performance was overrated on Friday night. Didn't really do much but Gilbee, Carlile, Didak, Russell, Mundy + the other outs would be next in line for the top 50.

Hard to argue with what you've put up again AG as usual...except for one spot and i think that is ROK. I think his season has been a tad overrated by some. Definitely in the top 50, definitely in the top 25 but i think 5 overall is a bit high.

Btw, i backed ROK at 101-1 the other week for Charlie so i want him to perform as much as the next man and of course he is one of my team's best, but i think 5th is a little bit high. I reckon 13-18 would be suitable. Pav could be a little higher too possibly.

Great to see Jude rising and Wellingham has stunned me with how good he has become this year.

Chapman should definitely be ahead of ROK, so I missed that.

I'd still have ROK top 10. In that group with Goddard, Montagna, Barlow and Griffen. Consistency is what has him in the top 10 but maybe I am overrated him. Love him as a player.

Hmm yeh probably in with that Montagna...Griffen group. That is fair. He is playing really well anyway, one of the toughest midfield matchups going around due to his ability to go forward. He has taken the 2nd most marks I50 of any Swan and is in the top 20 or so in the AFl for it. Something many people might not realise. Just his kicking at goal that is letting him down a tad.

He is such an awesome player. All for pick 50 something too!

Yeah, Heath Shaw not far behind that and aside from round 2, Didak hasn't done a whole lot wrong.
Swan hasn't been that influential but hasn't really had a bad game as such - still averaging over 27 touches a game.
He was just about the only bloke not to get in on the act on ANZAC day, I thought. He's one of those guys who can be dead quiet and still rack up 25 touches. Beams and Sidebottom have arguably stepped up ahead of him.

Pretty fair summation, he was BOG yesterday though. Ran all day & had over 30.

This. Stanton has been great.
