Fred and Terra have both proven they can cut it at this level, looks as though Maycon will be the dud. Hoping he can prove that theory wrong though! Either way, god I can't wait for October!

If Maycon turns out a dud, am I right in saying that our only back-up striker with a decent size is Babalj? Nothing against Babalj (think he will be a very good player in time) but that doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Your confidence is now filled.

Yes 6 in his last 3.

Add to that 4 goals in 6 games for Richmond SC and a few in Heart pre-season games including a bag of 4, a hat-trick and a brace.

Hopefully he is given a chance to play centrally this season. When he did get minutes last season JVS played him on the Right wing.

We also have Terra who is naturally a striker and played there later in the season with good results and then there is obviously Williams too who has a good record in the position, if needed.

Not sure about Terra as a striker. It might be his natural position but I can't see him having much success there in the A-league. Would be much better on a flank or as a wide man in a front three.

I cant believe they signed that maycon. He was playing in the rio de jeniero state league. wasnt even playing serie d in brazil. I can see this guy being a massive flop

Why? Just coz he is small and fits the mould of a typical winger? He scored 2 in 3 games when playing the role.

As a winger he seems to get stuck in the corners to often, constantly pushing to deep or taking on 1 to many.

Id rather see him in a formation like this, where he'd be most efective:
Srhoj
Fred-----------Terra
Duganzic----------------------------Williams
Hoffman

He signed for that club just for the Rio Cup and was their highest profile player, scoring 6 times in 7 games in the comp. He was at Serie B before that with ASA.

Whilst on paper that looks like a good structure but who is gonna supply cover for the defence, way too much attacking players on the pitch at once.

Some State League when it has Corinithians, Fluminese, River Plate, Palmeiras, Vasco de Gama, etc.

Brazilian system is completely different to the traditional system. They play in two leagues each year, the national league and the state league.

Yeah if Shroj is your only defensive player you have problems.

Well, I wen't and watch the practice mach earlier today. Scoreline was 11-1, we played well, very flowing football, got caught on the counter a little bit, but nothing major.

Scorers were: Hoffman (4), Terra (2), Babalj (2), Dugandzic, Worm and Ibrahmim.

Line up:

Tohmas Dunn*
Taseski - Germano** - Thompson/(Trialist 45') - Behich/(Good 30')

Sarkies-----------Srhoj/(Kalmar 45')

Ibrahim-----------Hoffman----Worm/(Dugandzic 45')

Terra/(Babalj 45')

* Youth team keeper.
** 22y/o Argentine trialist named Johnathan Germano.

So take from that what you will. Although we still have Hamill, Marrone, Colosimo, Williams, Fred, Maycon, Zahra and Bolton who didn't play.

Just to clear some things up: Fluminense, Vasco de Gama = Rio de Janeiro state league.

Corinthians, Palmeiras = Sao Paulo state league (different to RJ state league)

River plate = Argentinian team.

Maycons team (Nova Iguacu) were in the Rio state league and finished second last I think. This team is semi-professional, and barely has fans, they do not compete in any national competition, just the state league (which is a hugely lop-sided competition). This is not too say he wont be successful in the A-league. Only time will tell.

**** Modern Football!

In other news Levchenko signs with Adelaide United on a 1 year deal.
