Re: All things Trade Week

Eade does not strike me as a stupid man so why didn't hill get games? Every one knows he is a good athlete could he be mentally suspect?

Re: All things Trade Week

Who knows this for sure? Maybe there were no issues, and the guy just didn't put in the hard yards, or maybe he's just not an AFL footballer.

Akermanis has mentioned it a few times (may even be in his book I think). Looked quite an exciting player not too long ago, wouldn't mind picking him up on the cheap tbh.

Another player I am curious about is Ahmed Saad.

Anybody know much about him?

Tested very well in Repeat Sprints (1st), 20m sprint (2nd) and Agility test (2nd).

Apparently one of the best small crumbing forwards in the VFL who has amazing tackling pressure and is very nippy, i,e. uses his speed. Is still very raw having played only 5 years coming from a soccer background.

Could be worth a shot, likely to go late 2nd round to rookie draft perhaps.

Looks great but knowing us won't take him with our first rookie pick, we'll take some hack instead while Saad becomes a gun that year.

A family friend was on the Sydney list when Eade coached and yes Eade is an idiot!

Re: All things Trade Week

Ugh Josh Hill.

This may backfire spectacularly. I hope the recruitment department know what they're doing.

Reminds me of Dalziell.

Obvious flaws, Hill=Lazy ... Dalziell=Disposal

Comes down to whether Eagles can get rid of the negative trait where the other club had no luck.

Weak draft, our picks will buy lower quality this year, so as long as we don't pay too much, it might be worth taking a risk.

i live in melbourne now and northern bullants seem to always be on tv as the VFL game of the week and thats who saad plays for.

most comparible to david rodan in build and style.

very zippy and when involved can be super influencial but often goes missing in games.

not goal saavy enough to be a forward pocket player, not classy or built well enough to play full time midfielder.

would be handy, but def not a long term prospect i dont think.

Could do the opposite. For the pick we will likely use this is a worthwhile deal.

He can play just needs a new environment.

Re: All things Trade Week

It's actually 28 and 33 for Ebert and another pick (probably 45)

Good deal if true
This is correct.. my post was worded arse about. :) Thanks larrikin.

Yes, good deal if true.. and I think that may put us in front somewhat as we were unlikely to use 45 anyway.

Certainly a very good outcome, if true:thumbsu:

Shuey took the heat during and after the collingwood final with 17-19 posessions and 7 tackles.

Yet, I recall Ebert had 7 touches in total and was the obvious player to be dropped. His mental fragility with the dummy spit has been exposed and it is time to move on. 28 and 33 would be outstanding.

I like Hill as a player, his attitude is horrific though, if he can fix that up he could prove of Value. Never mind just remembered our entire game plan revolves around pressure.

@BMCK - Apparently 33 is on the table from Port as well

We won't need to involve Port in the Hill trade, he's not that high of a commodity.
Besides the above, 3 way trades don't happen very often.. we on BF are very good at doing this though :).
Suggest third rounder for hill at best, and as reported Port to give 28,33 for Ebert plus later pick from us.
We won't get Clark, we don't have the currency.

Any interest in Mitch Morton as a replacement for Ebert?

He is on the outer at Ricmond and would come very cheap? He has had problems at WCE before (mainly attitude) but does have good skills and athleticism.

The call comes down to do we think that with the current strength of our leadership group and coaching are we able to rehibilatate him? I am thinking perhaps but would love to hear other view points.

There's more chance of woosha becoming AD's bitch than of a morton coming back to west coast.

Surely you jest?

Re: All things Trade Week

Josh Hill can play footy. Yes, he has been disappointing for the past two years but he has also been trying to leave the club during that time too. There is no way you will ever play your best footy if your heart is not in it.

Yes, he does appear to be a little soft and lazy but that will soon be thumped out of him at West Coast. The Sydney Swans have a remarkable history of picking up other players who weren't doing much at their respective clubs who have excelled at the Swans. There is no reason to think that if we do get Hill that he can't be a solid contributor. And if we get him for a late draft pick that we weren't going to use then it is just a bonus.
