2011 Ladder Predictions - Part 2

Yet you place a group of much more talented lists below them on the ladder. We're all biased, it's natural, but at least don't try to kid yourself.

Bit of hypocrisy there surely. Don't be biased, based upon your own perception of talent. What if you are wrong and some of the Carlton kids end up superstars and the guys you thought would rock it don't? If that is his opinion why refute simply based upon your own. Maybe introduce some analysis instead of just passing his prediction off as bias, or better yet, maybe don't assume you are the keenest eye for talent.

If you are offended by this, that is your prerogative, but all I mean to point out is that you shouldn't disregard an opinion based upon your own assumptions of indefinite things like "talent"

What if I am? What if Collingwood's top 8 players all do their knee before round 1? I'm basing this on what I've seen, not what ifs.

What else should I be basing it on?

or better yet, maybe don't assume you
are the keenest eye for talent.

Every prediction in this thread is an assumption, no one knows anything. All I can go by is what I've seen of Carlton last year, and using that information I've come to the conclusion that they're not one of the top 4 teams in the league in terms of talent.

If you are offended by this, that is your prerogative

I'm not offended.

I completely agree with the bolded the issue I had was the use of the word "talent".

I personally think that our list has an over abundance of potential players, which can be indicated by the density of top ten picks. If you do not think that we are as talented as others (which could quite likely be the truth) that is fine. For the sake of constructive debate, who are the more talented teams? Definitely Geelong and the Bulldogs are more likely to be successful next year, but I would contend that injuries make Fremantle contentious and I worry that Sydney still has too many older players in the best 22 for durability over the course of the season. Melbourne will need a replacement for Frawley, and I think will struggle for consistency due to a lack of experienced heads. The Crows have some big gaps with the departures of a host of veterans, top eight material in my mind though. North Melbourne lack a certain level of star power, if Andrew Swallow steps up might fill the gap, and they need to find a consistent target (maybe Hansen) going forward.

Haven't got a clue really; but I'll have a stab at a prediction just for fun anyway.

1. Collingwood - Clever gameplan, but it will be unpicked
2. Bulldogs - good new additions, plus Higgins and Ward back from injury
3. Sydney - they have really classy young players
4. Geelong - new coach, new gameplan, they might slip lower
5. St Kilda - too much faith in recycled players, not enough good kids
6. Hawthorn - hard to place them
7. Essendon - much improvement with players maturing
8. Carlton - need to get rid of their coach - he has not delivered
9. Adelaide - injuries already starting
10. Melbourne
11. Fremantle
12. West Coast
13. Port Adelaide
14. Richmond

Collingwood - Bugger!
W. Bulldogs - Cheer Ripe. Class everywhere.
Carlton - Ready to cotend. Yarran and Garlett stars.
Hawthorn - Ready to rock and Rioli
StKilda - See Geelong
Geelong - Sliding, but still have guns
Adelaide - I like them. On the rise. Good kids everywhere
Melbourne - On the rise, but slowly slowly

Kangaroos - Almost
Fremantle - Sliding.
Essendon - NAB heroes, real season mediocre
Sydney - Gutsy but on the slide
Port Adelaide - Duds
Gold Coast - Yablett to win hem a few
West Coast - Outside Ruck division...woeful
Richmond - 6 good players, 30 odd list cloggers
Brisbane - Shocking List

Don't mind this ladder, most certainly though, Melbourne look 2-4 spaces higher than they should perhaps be, and Gold Coast will not finish higher than Adelaide or Richmond. From a biased perspective I'm expecting Carlton to obviously improve their position on the ladder this year and win 4-6 more games than last year - good chance to make 4th spot. Expect Essendon to just miss the eight on percentage.

My revised ladder

1. Collingwood
2. Hawthorn
3. Western Bulldogs
4. St Kilda
5. Carlton
6. Sydney
7. Geelong
8. Melbourne
9. Adelaide
10. North*
11. Port
12. Fremantle*
13. Essendon
14. Richmond
15. Gold Coast
16. West Coast
17. Brisbane

* Normally wold have been top 8, but injuries and bad pre-seasons make them narrowly miss IMO

Which is about a reasonable assessment. Anybody who says Top 6 is deluded, anyone who says bottom 4 is equally deluded.

im interested. can you name the 30 list cloggers please.

A month ago just about everyone had Essendon as locks for bottom 2 or 3. Now nobody is putting them in the bottom 4. Why is this? Surely ppl aren't taking into account meaningless practice matches?

My revised ladder, definitely a bit out there.
