Re: Round 11 Trades

Any thoughts on who I should go with?

Ablett or Thompson.

Both massive scorers, and will play every league game from now on. (GC have had their two byes and Adelaide's next bye is in a non-league round.).

Re: Round 11 Trades

I certainly agree that it does make sense to bring in a defender this week, but these are my thoughts:
G.Ablett is going up in price if I don't get him now.
I have to bring in a FWD/MID in my forward line to get Pav there later so I have to do a FWD downgrade to Mzungu unless another one pops up later.
Also, I'm planning on bringing Newman in next week after the bye in place of Toy.
Brain melt :p

If you've got a plan go with it! Like I said, despite the relative weakness of your backline (compared to your MID/FWDs) it really seems as though the moves you're talking about are best made this week as opposed to anything else you could do. :thumbsu:

Thanks mate. It's good to have someone reaffirm my trade thoughts :D

Re: Round 11 Trades

I have enough cash to get any forward this week. Was thinking

Pav v Goodes V Stevie J v Sylvia v Chapman

Was worried about PAv as Sandi isn't playing and his price might drop. I'm going for a league win and Geelong have a bye in the finals but is it worth it? Chap is cheap.

I'm going to get 1 this week and another next week. Which 2 should I take and which 1 first?

Re: Round 11 Trades

Looking through the backmen what are peoples thoughts on:

Shannon Hurn $358,500. B.E 44 - last two rounds of 109 and 97 (steal for a backline?)

Heath Grundy $409,100. BE 97 - 113, 46, 142 [Would he be regarded a prem for backline, considering scoring is average down there?]

Brent Guerra $404,700. BE 41 - 136, 72, 169

Duffield - $392,700. BE 12 - 60, 128, 133 [Is duffman back?]

Hanley - $394,000. BE 4 - 100, 108, 121 [real roughie]

What do you guys think, tryin to be unique for a league win.. Adcock/Scotland are good options but tryin to be very different!

I am convinced Chappy is carrying an injury. Will be rested soon i think. BE of 127. Might get him cheaper if you really want him. Out of those Pav is the safest bet, very consistent!

Re: Round 11 Trades

Question. Four of the guys in the top 6 of my league have Ablett (I’m one who doesn't). Do I get him and match them, or go unique, take a risk and get Thompson? I’m leaning toward Thompson just because he’s cheaper and if you take out Abletts Adelaide game he’s averaging more. Then again he's not a champ either...

Super Pav!

You're getting too tricky for me mate. I'd be too scared to make a risky trade, even getting in premiums has been touch and go (I want my $100k back Gibbs!) Out of the ones you've listed maybe Duffield? Low BE, bye is in the non-scoring (for league) round.

Re: Round 11 Trades

Get whoever you think will score you most points over the season and back yourself in. Getting the same player is a defensive move, but also if they're the best player to get then it's a good move because getting anyone else will leak you points.

I'd be rolling with Thompson. I'm considering him next week when I drop swallow. As great as Ablett is... you're probably better off with Thompson as a unique too! Besides Thompsons Bye means nothing.

Good advice. Thompson won't look as nice in my mids but I think his advantages outweigh the risks. Doing it. Thanks.

Yeah am considering Duffman, but man love watching grundy play. However shannon hurn is so cheap and backmen are so unreliable anyways. I could be just as good with Lower playing everyweek!

Backmen are annoyin this year! boo.

Am facing the same the same question here...

for starters I would rule out Hanley, i dont think he truly has enough runs on the board.

Reg Grundy i know has been a consistent scorer over last couple years but im just not sold on this bloke.

Broughton, who you didnt mention seems to have changed roles this year and is not freewheeling as much as he used to.

Guerra's not a consistent footballer in my opinion. (that and I already have buddy and cyril)

For me it would be a choice between Hurn and Duffield. I'd personally lean towards Hurn only because I already have Pav, Sandi, Lower and getting in Mzungu where as from the eagles only have Cox.

The thing with Hurn is he is exactly the type of player supercoach rewards. If you look at most of his 90+ scores over the years you'll see many of those scores are generated on the back of 15-20 possession games. He doesnt need high disposal numbers like most because his disposal is so damaging. That being said I think he's copping more of a tag then he used to which is why his scores are suffering.

The other one I'm keeping my is Bob Murphy but he's got a dodgy injury history.

Newmans also a potential great pick up but already have Deledio (and batcherlor) in backline.

Any one of these are a ballsy decision though but I guess thats the beauty of supercoach, living and dying by the sword.

Would love people's thoughts on who they'd go for in the backline outside of the stock-standard Gibbs, Deledio, Goddard, Shaw, Enright, Fisher. Where do you guys think the value lies???

Yeah my bad!
Broughton is also another option to consider when you look at the following: $385,300 BE 57: 71,90,121. [Starting to hit his straps?- However not so much a unique].

Scotty Thompson doesn't score too badly either
$400k BE 40: 80, 117, 121

I suppose if Saints can manage some good form Sam Gilbert is another option at $372,600 BE 63: 77,106,90

But yeah not sure if it is worth spending big in the backline unless they are locks such as Heath Shaw, Delids etc. This is why I am strongly leaning towards Shannon Hurn --- but I do love watching Grundy play. Extra 50k for the enjoyment of watching him play haha.

Why not, picking him will certainly make you follow his game more closely! :p

for those who only allow 400K for Thompson prepare for a shock when you do your second trade for the week and he is 500k lol

Hahaha. If you'd been following my posts, you'd see that I was talkin about the backman. Scott Thompson from North :)

Re: Round 11 Trades

Too Hodge or not to Hodge?

He is hitting form.. Hawks fans.. is he completely fit? Will his body hold up?
I see Hawks play GC last round.. but that might be a bad thing as they might rest him!

..or should i just spend the extra 50g's on a safer bet like Pendles?

please help

I'd go for Pendles. I'm considering Hodge too but I've got 4 other hawks (2 I'll probably trade at some point). I think he'd be great as a cheap option if you've already got all the real guns but if you don't have Pendles or someone else with a killer average then I'd probably pay the extra because even though Hodge will probably go well he probably won't surpass some of the guys available for an extra 30-50k. From memory his price had dipped a bit lower than the current, that was probably the time to jump on - from a value for money standpoint.

I will be getting Newman next week. A top-six backmen on current averages, and priced under $415K. One bye out of the way, and the other in a non-league round. Having both Delidio and Newman is not a concern as Delidio can be shifted to the midfield bench in that round.

Adcock could be down around that $425K mark in week or two, coinciding with Lower/Stanley possibly topping out at $325-$350K. A nice upgrade for just $75K-$100K.

Enright is the other value in the backline based on past history. This weekend's game will be important in assessing where he's at form-wise.

I think you have sold me! thanks for the advice!!! :D

Re: Round 11 Trades

I need a bit of help on what to do next. Any advice is welcome.

I still have my back reserves from day one. None of them are playing at the moment which doesnt help.

Im considering downdrading McKernan>Smith then Burgoyne>Ablett/Hodge/Dal Santo or ??

Another possibility is Burgoyne>Smith Higgins>prem forward.

I also think my backline may need some touching up soon.

12 Trades left and $101.70 cap remaining.

BACKS: Goddard, Gibbs, Heppel, Murphy, Suckling, Lower, Hibberd (Toy, Otten, Cheney)
MIDS: Pendlebury, Swan, Judd, Selwood, Goodes, Burgoyne (Deledio, Libba, Polec)
RUCKS: Cox, Bailey (Sandilands, McCauley)
FORWARDS: Franklin, Pavlich, N.Riewolt, Zaharakis, Higgins, Lynch, Mzungu (J.Riewolt, McKernan, Richardson)
