Re: 2012 Geelong memberships (14/02/2012: 30,891)

I'm an interstate member, and signed my partner up for her first membership this year.

Just a thought - I wonder whether there are ways of adding extra value to interstate memberships for those of us living outside Victoria. I haven't been able to go to a Geelong home game for 6 years (we lived overseas before Brissy), yet my membership has always entitled me to 5 home games in Victoria.

I'd much rather entry to the two away games we've got in Queensland this year, or access to a supporters' function up here if that's not feasible. The club needs to find ways of adding additional value to interstate and non-attending membership packages if they are going to grow our base to 50,000 or more. It's hard to justify the expenditure if you're not a die hard, when all you get is a travel cup and are told that you can "pick up" your hat from the club store that's 2,000 kms or more away...

Agree with this. People wonder why our number is a little low. Lack of imagination and suitable packages from our membership department is not helping.

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships (14/02/2012: 30,891)

I agree too. I didn't get a chance to get over for a game until the Prelim final...
I don't understand the point in marketing an "Interstate Package" when all the games included in the package aren't interstate at all.

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships (14/02/2012: 30,891)

I never get around to picking up my membership until March; this year will be the same.

I think more effective catering to our interstate supporters would be beneficial, but you'd have to have different packages for different states. I don't know much about interstate seating allocations, but it's safe to assume that it's tougher to get a seat for a WA away game than it is to a QLD away game. Plus, we've played two away games in WA for the past five or so years, most other states would only be one. This year, it's two games in QLD and WA and one in SA and NSW.

I think anything below 45k would be very disappointing.

Got the family's members gear. For those interested:
- USB stick as expected is pitiful, only 2 GB (not worth getting)
- Blanket is identical to last years, except of course has the year as 2012
- The hat is mostly blue, Cat-face club logo on front, ISC and Ford on the sides, member 2012 on the back, and the only white really being to lines that are on top of the visor that follow the shape of it.

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships

I don't think it's a money thing, they're likely trying something different, and if they get a lot of feedback, I'm sure they'll be back in 2013.

I would suggest this: https://shopdesq.imgstg.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Product&ProductID=22509&OrgID=1747

Since the 2007 flag, I've been wearing the most recent premiership scarf, and this one is by far the nicest, and includes all three years. Not to mention our awesome tagline: "The Greatest Team of All" :)

I preferred the 09 and 07 scarfs. I get the weg / knight poster framed and hang the scarf on top of the frame . This year efd me up, because it's for all 3 years. Also like having the players names on it.

Anyone able to give an update on the latest membership figure. I'm having problems with the e-mail the club sends out. Cheers.:thumbsu:

Bit disappointed the club has seen fit to give our membership list to a third party. Okay, there’s a Cat interest – sort of – but still.........

Re the membership number. C'mon guys, we should be aiming at 50,000 with the success we've had, not 40,000.

Re: 2012 Geelong memberships (29/02/2012: 32,096)

Never can understand why more local Geelong supporters don't become members. Would love to see the breakdown of where the members are geographically.

I mean, if we could get 35,000 from Geelong (out of a population of 175,000), there's no reason why in the rest of Australia we can't add a Bulldogs or Kangas tally of memberships too. That would give us 50-60,000. Might have to build another level or two onto of the Cattery, but hey, Cooky would be rapt!!!!

I have a sneaking suspicion the quantity of reserved seating at KP is a limiting factor on overall membership numbers. Hopefully the new stand will help in that regard.

Besides, let's face it, we've never been a huge club. So long as our support remains steady when the inevitable decline comes, I think we'll be doing alright.

How many members from the old Wade Stand are without a seat and what has the club offered most as a result of the new stand for the coming season?

A story in last weeks Addy says they've found seats for all Wade Stand people that want them. There's something like 1100 seat holders who've taken up the option to sit out the season.

I got a call from the club yesterday asking if I'd like to sit in the premium seats in the Hickey Stand. They asked because I've already paid for Gold seating,so the move would cost me an extra $40.I took up the offer.Haven't been told where in the Hickey Stand my seat will be.

It'll be curious if the prices of seats in the Ablett terrace will go up due to the huge reduction of those available.
